I think the producers are hoping for 7 seasons and they have enough material for that. But no-one can ever be sure, some shows get prematurely cancelled although this one is not likely to.

Probably seven. That's how many seasons all the executive producers want. And ratings are still very high so it seems very likely that by that time the ratings would still be high enough for it to not get canceled before it could have a finale.

I think seven seasons is a perfect number. Let's just hope that if somehow ratings are still extremely good ABC will let this show go and not keep it on after its past its expiration date.

I think what Eva said is that after Desperate Housewives she will quit acting and start a family, but she says that DH will go on for a long time.

Eva Longoria and Brenda Strong (Mary Alice) are contracted for 7 seasons, should the show run for so long. Teri Hatcher is contracted for 6. Don't know what their contracts say, but Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman and James Denton (Mike) aren't going anywhere the next two seasons. And expect to see Nicollette Sheridan and Doug Savant (Tom) back next season.

this show is great and i think 7 is the perfect number. All the woman will keep reprising their roles for a very long time, it gets over 20 million viewers each week and ABC are patching up their mistake from last season for not involving Mark Cherry as much in the Script, this season is going along as it was in the first season and i think this could turn out to be a very hott season. I can never get enough of this show!

Yeah, the script so far is better than last season. This season's mystery is more interesting and complex than Season 2. I think we all want Orson to be a good guy (since Bree seems to only end up with weirdos), but considering that he mysteriously ran over Mike, that may not be the case. Maybe he will be like Paul and never go to jail.

If the mysteries for each season stay good, I'd say the show has several more seasons. More than 7 seems excessive though.

I was thinking about that too, and I think seven is the perfect number. It's not too little, but it's not too much. Hopefully, it will stay on that long. Also, that's the number I always heard. It's also the year I graduate.

I think around 7 to 8 Seasons would be great, just perfect. The way things are going, with the writing being so good and the writers making good choices, Desperate Housewives could easily last that long.

I would be extra satisfied, though, if it went on for 10 seasons... and they STOPPED it. 20 mil. viewers for 10 years is a great run. Then, they GRACEFULLY leave... wouldn't that be great? Am I asking for too much?

Also to add to that, if there were ever an 8th season, Eva would not be in it. She has stated many times before that she does not want to renew her contract once it is over. So the most we'll get from her is 7 seasons. As for Teri, I'm not sure about her. It would be weird having a 6th season without one of the main housewives and even a more comicky/gimmicky character like Susan isn't really expendable. I think if one housewife left, it just would not be the same show. I hope none of them decide to leave prematurely.

7 is a great number if it maintains the quality. Buffy ran for 7 seasons and bowed out gracefully. I hope this show doesn't pull a "7th Heaven" and continue while the show blows really bad.

I think that Eva will stay until the end, but she is keen on starting a family, but i guess she can still do that when the show is running

That is impossible unless they pull a "Sopranos" and skip two years between a season or two.  Otherwise they end after eleven seasons.
