I know it's impossible for DH to get 20 million viewers for the finale these days (maybe 2 years ago they would have pulled that off), but now when we're in 8-9 million viewers and 2.5-3.0 demo range, hm .... I doubt it.
MY PREDICTIONS:
9:00pm: 10.25 million; 3.2
9:30pm: 11.00 million, 3.5
10:00pm: 12.50 million; 3.9
10:30pm: 14.00 million; 4.5
with the last 15 minutes being over 15 million and about 5.0

Will & Grace is a sitcom though and therefore isn't serialized at all, unlike DH which means the audience needs to have at least some knowledge of what has been going on the show. In addition to that, W&G ended many years ago when the TV landscape was still flourishing and when TV shows could still get high ratings... that's not the case anymore, obviously.
OT, there's two million who DVR the show every week so I think the majority of those will tune in to watch the series finale live. Add to that another 2 million viewers who will be interested to check out the finale and you will have 13-14 million viewers; this number will be reached during the second hour though. I expect the first hour to have like 11 million viewers or something.
I think the fact that there's no recap of the season before the finale begins is going to limit its ratings a bit since old fans who haven't paid attention to this season are less likely to tune in now. Let's hope that ONCE finale is up a lot over last Sunday and gives DH a little boost in its turn too. 
When Lost ended it got 13 million viewers for its finale. If DH could get that I would be happy out. I cant see the show hitting over 20 million viewers for the finale (it is possible but I dont think so).
Here is what I think:
Give Me the Blame (1)
9.00: 10.50 million viewers and a 3.3 in the demo.
9.30: 11.30 million viewers and a 3.7 in the deom. (10.90 and 3.5)
Finishing the Hat (2)
10.00: 12.87 million viewers and a 4.4 in the demo
10.30: 13.78 million viewers and a 5.0 in the demo. (13.32 and 4.7)
12.11 and 4.1 averaging over the 2-hours.
I was going to guess higher but I dont want to be too disappointed if the ratings come in and they are not great. I would be hapy if the ratings could match the season 7 premiere ratings. At least we can say the series went out on a 2 year ratings high. I am expecting more viewers for the second hour of the finale. More people will want to see how it ends and the ratings in the las 15-20minutes should see an increase also.
Oh, I really hope the show can go out with good ratings. As long as we break the 10 million bar, Happy days.
Also by the way, I might post here again if I change my mind, which of course I will, with a different ratings prediction.
If any of you are living in the US, could you tell me if ABC is doing anything out of the ordinary to promote the series finale? Do people know about this or is it not being promoted efficiently? And how does the marketing campaign compare to the one for LOST's finale?
I think it can pull off at least 15 million. It's the series finale! A bunch of people who stopped watching years ago will be curiously tuning in. Probably in disbelief that it's still on. 
People are prediciting the finale's ratings on tvbythenumbers, and according to the poll so far, most people are expecting 3.0-3.4.

very smiliar but people over there are not that optimistic.
8:00pm – Once Upon a Time = 10 million; 3.4
9:00pm – Desperate Housewives = 11.2 million; 3.4
10:00pm – Desperate Housewives = 13.5 million; 4.0
Or OUAT could get 10.5-11 and help our beloved DH out
^^^Daniel, I agree with you. Over at tvbythenumbers, they dont think the finale can get over a 4.0 and 11 million viewers. They are saying around a 3.3-3.8 and 10-11 million viewers.
Its the last ever episode people, many who left the series seasons ago will return to see how the series ends. Just because its mothers day doesn't mean the ratings will go down. Last year the ratings remained the same, viewership went up slightly and the series finale of Brothers and Sisters aired and it gained 2 million viewers from the previous episode and went up from a 1.5 to a 1.9.
So DH can definitly get at least 12 million viewers plus if not even more. But just to be safe I am preparing myself for not so amazing ratings.
