well this episode of desperate housewives certainly had a few big suprises even more then usual, i certainly didnt expect martha huber to die so early as she is such a big character however she was evil i really did feel sorry for paul even though he is really creppy and now a murderer, other then that there were some other big moments in this episode like susan and mike doin it for the first time and lynette vision was also a big shock for this episode well done for desperate housewives for showing a gritty side to motherhood overall a really great episode liked it alot cant wait to see what is next for the women of wisteria lane

  • The death of a housewife... the near death of a housewife... a housewife does it with the man she loves... Season 1 classic!

This is another one of my Season 1 favorites! The death of Martha Huber shocked me a little but it was a good way how she got killed and at the same time Mike and Susan were having sex- finally!

The Lynette plotline was great- how she nearly committed suicide and when Mary Alice was handing her the gun. I loved it when Bree and Susan came to her in that park and Lynette was saying they should talk more about these kinds of stuff.

I also found that investigating stuff intriguing. Gabrielle confessing to the priest was good.

Overall, a Season 1 favorite which sits along next to Impossible.

    Grade- A.
  • This too is one of my personal favorites. With great storylines for all housewives and a special murder, this is one of those groundbreaking episodes.

As we saw previously, Andrew just ran over Mama Solisce, immeadiately sending her into a coma. Bree, is determined to save her son from whatever may happen if anyone finds out. Her first step is to leave the car in a bad part of town and hope for someone to steal it since dumping it is far too risky. After the car is disposed of, all is resolved, until she sees that andrew feels no guilt for what he has done. she tries to save him from becoming a monster, but soon sees that it is just too late.

Lynette is hooked on ADD medication. She goes to get some accupunture but it becomes impossible with the children right there. she takes a natural sleeping remedy, but her timing is all but impeccable. When the boys have a scouts meeting, she pops some pills to keep her awake. soon, she realises she can't take this and hallucinates that mary alice gives her a gun. she leaves her kids with susan saying 'i can't do this'. Bree and susan rush to take care of her, but lynette shoots them down with one of the shows best lines 'i love my kids so much, i'm sorry they have me as a mother.' but bree and susan remind her that no one has a smooth ride.

John feels partially responsible for mama solisce and confesses his sins to a priest. gabi finds out and summons the priest and learns that if she repents, she won't go to jail. but when the priest asks her what she want. she says to be happy. he then says that is the answer of a selfish child and gabi returns with the heartbreaking 'i know' we then see she feels very bad about mama solisce.

Susan and Mike are accelarating and decide to go away together, but she gets her doubts when she learns more about her favorite plumber. mike has a lot of money and a gun in his house. she is counting the money when a knock at the door startles her and she dumps the money and gun in the sink. when jumping the the ground, she fallst through and bongo is not particularly helpful. when mike gets home he helps her up, but sees the money and says get out of my house. when susan tries to explain herself he gets more angry and she erupts in 'i hope your secret keeps you warm at night because you're throwing something really great away to protect it' mike sees what he is missing and says 'i know you have a lot of questions, but i know i don't want to lose you, so ask me anything you want.' susan pulls him in and they make out, and she leads him up to her bedroom. This scene is crossed with an angry paul murdering mrs huber for her blackmail letter.

this episode is my third favorite, and i really love it!

  • Everyone is a sinner.

Lynette reaches the breaking point and she can't control her kids anymore and she feels like a failure all the time.

John went to confession and Gabrielle is out of her mind with that as fathre Crowley now knows everything about them and Gabrielle needs to assure John that he did nothing wrong.

Bree is concerned about Andrew because he is not feeling any remorse over what he did and she wants to find out if he has soul.

Susan is now trying to find out what Mike is hiding and she finds lot fo cash and a gun and when he finds out they stop dating but they can't live without each other and they end up having sex.

Meanwhile Paul finds out that it was Martha all along that blackmailed them and he kills her.

    Absolutely fabulous episode.

"A good person who leaves her child motherless? Read the Bible, Paul. Suicide's a big no-no."--Mrs. Huber

Picking up minutes from where we left off in last week's thrilling episode, Bree is forced to put her morality into question when she might do something so daring to protect the people she loves the most. Bree decides to get rid of Andrew's car by parking it in a deserted area of town having someone steal the car so that the Van De Kamps let the police know that the car has been stolen. Rex asks if she really wants to do this but Bree has her mind made up: it's the only way out. Or isn't it?

Meanwhile Gabrielle and Carlos are sitting at Mama Solis' bedside when they are visited by John Rowland. John brings Mama a rose which Gabby places near Mama. John gives his condolences on Mama's coma and proceeds to follow Carlos down to the hospital chapel leaving Gabby alone with Mama.

Bree and Rex drive Andrew's car to a remote location where only drug addicts and homeless people are usually found. Bree parks the car and leaves the keys in the ignition. Rex meanwhile is in his car in a alley way close to Andrew's car. The two sit and wait until someone comes. Meanwhile they decide that Andrew will need to be punished by them which is somewhat better than going away to prison for several years. The following day they visit Gabrielle and Carlos who are doing as well as expected and Carlos announces that he and Gabby are ready to start a family. Gabby immediately barks at him since she knows she isn't ready. The two argue and the conversation gets bad. The Van De Kamps decide to leave and Andrew believes that he is off the hook. Not so fast! As Bree tells Andrew that he will be punished for his actions and asks that he has any remorse. Andrew tells her he doesn't which causes Bree to believe that Andrew doesn't have a soul something everyone needs.

As John mows a neighbor's lawn Gabby confronts John on why he visited Mama in the hospital. John tells Gabby that he felt guilty of what happened since it was really partially their fault. John continues that he has gone to confession and recommends that she pay a visit to a priest if she wants the sin to be erased. Later, Gabby sees the priest but instead of making a confession tells the priest of her loneliness and how Carlos was never really there for her like John is. The priest understands that Gabrielle is lonely but still adultery is a sin and if not repented on could mean serious consequences. Gabby tries to comprehend but knows she cannot just throw her feelings for John away--just yet. As a small act of kindness, Gabby helps Carlos gives his mother a spongebath.

Susan tries to get closer to Mike by planning a romantic weekend getaway with him but things turn sour when Susan finds Mike's stash of money and his gun when she offers to let a delivery man in his home. After the deliveryman leaves, Susan snoops around finds the money and gun but runs with it up to the bathroom but when she falls into a huge crack in the floor Susan becomes stuck with the money and gun still sitting in the sink. Mike soon arrives home to find Susan stuck and his secret stash discovered. He gets Susan out of the hole but asks that she leave. Susan does as Mike wishes but asks why he has what he has. Later Susan apologizes which Mike does not accept seeing that his secret life has been revealed. The following day, all is forgotten when the two come to their senses and begin to make out which leads into a night of romance.

Lynette is trying to relax and get some rest so she sees a Chinese acupuncturist. However when the twins and Parker will not behave she asks the doctor if she can give her something stronger. She gives Lynette a remedy which will put her to sleep in minutes. Lynette takes it but is quickly woken up when she has to run a Cub Scout meeting. Lynette is becoming very stressed out between Tom being away and taking the twins' ADD medication that she looks as if she is going to explode at any moment. Lynette begins to halucinate when she is visited by Mary Alice who gives her a gun to end her misery. Lynette wakes up from the dream to find the baby screaming, and the boys playing the stereo very loud. Lynette soon asks Susan to take care of her kids while she finds peace and solitude. Susan worries about her and she and Bree follow her to the park where she confesses that she took Porter and Preston's ADD medication which really destroyed her insides. Bree and Susan assure Lynette that she will overcome this but believe that she is going to need some help from a nanny if Lynette is going to continue to be a good mother.

Detective Shaw accompanies Edie to a piece of land for sale. Knowing that he is going to kill her, Shaw compliments her on her stationary. Edie tells her that it is not hers and that she stole it from Mrs. Huber. Immediately Shaw becomes confused until Edie clarifies that she would take things from Martha and Martha would steal from her. Shaw decides to let things be and calls Paul to tell him that they have the wrong person. Shaw sees Paul later and tells him that it was Mrs. Huber and asks Paul if he wants him to do anything. Paul tells Shaw that he will take care of it which he does. While taking her groceries in, Mrs. Huber is surprisingly greeted by Paul Young who offers to take her groceries in. When they arrive in the house, Paul throws Martha the note which she automatically becomes shocked with. Paul knows that she did it but Martha tries to deny it. Martha finally comes clean but she only blackmailed Mary Alice because of what she did to that "poor baby". Could this baby be Dana? When Martha finally finishes Paul grabs a pan and smacks her with it. Mrs. Huber is pushed to the floor and is then brutally strangled. Paul places Mrs. Huber's body in a reverent position and gets rid of the evidence. Farewell Martha, I know we never saw eye to eye on things but since you were part of the cause of Mary Alice's death, you deserved what was coming to you!

    Other important events in "Guilty"...

*Everyone feels a little guilty this week. Bree feels guilty that her son doesn't feel guilt. John tries to make Gabrielle feel guilty for what they did before Mama's demise. Lynette feels guilty for being a bad mother and Susan feels guilty for over stepping her boundaries when it comes to her love life.

*My favorite storylines this week would have to be Bree's and Lynette's. Just seeing Lynette go through her breakdown was fantastic and I can really see why Huffman deserved her Emmy award.

*Susan, Susan. Susan is always getting herself into a hole both literally and emotionally. Why can't you ever accept people for who they are and not always try to make things better than they actually are. You have truly been blessed with a second chance but everyone knows three strikes and YOU'RE OUT!

*Terrific acting this week by all of the talented actresses and actors! What would Desperate Housewives be without a fabulous acting ensemble.

"Guilty" shows why Desperate Housewives is becoming the best show on network television. With brilliant writing and plot lines, the show is quickly emerging from a guilty pleasure to must see television.

  • Martha Huber dies... Mike and Susan finally make it!

I totally loved this épisode, we finally discover who wrote the letter and we see Paul in his huge madness.

Susan and Mike finally make it! after 8 episodes they understand that it's time! the transition in the end is wonderful, who thought it?

One of the best episode for me.
  • The best of the early episodes, and ends with the murder of a housewife!

    "Perfect"
While ABC tricked us into believing one of the five housewives would be killed off (and everyone thought it would be Nicollette Sheridan), "Guilty" was the most action-packed hour of the show's first season. Not my favorite episode, but definitely the most action filled.

I loved how everything was set up. We think that Edie was the one who wrote the note, and soon later that it was none other than Mrs. Huber! Also, Mike and Susan finally gave into their attraction! The shots of Mrs. Huber being killed, and Mike and Susan getting it on were brilliant.

The other highlight of this episode was Lynette's breakdown. Truly, Felicity Huffman does her best work in this episode. Lynette realized that she had to stop after taking the twins' ADD medication. Huffman should submit this episode for her Emmy reel. She did a fantastic job.
  • Confession Vs Repression Written by Kevin Murphy Directed by Fred Gerber

    10
    "Perfect"
Following Juanita's hit, we get to see our housewives take stock and reassess some of their recent decisions and where better to start with than the Solis'. Gabrielle you may be able to get what you want but you're stuck up, petulant attitude is well and truly beginning to test my patience and these last couple of episodes her selfishness has really been annoying.

While it's good that she feels some guilt for her mother in law's condition (towards the end of the episode), her overall behaviour before then is just plain awful. Even John tires of it and finally dumps her and takes some responsibility for his part in Juanita's situation and the scenes between him and Carlos at the hospital were especially touching. It's also left up in the air as to what will happen to Mama Solis but honestly i'd wager it's for the worst which is a shame because she is a great character.

Ricardo Antonio Chaviro really gets to shine as the grief stricken Carlos, even though his newfound desire to have his wife reproduce does stem more from his anguish than logic or neccesity. There's also some great moments between Gabrielle and Father Crowley which produce some thought provoking and all round funny moments to the seriousness of the episode. Crowley wants her to repent but feeling bad isn't one of Gabrielle's favourite things.

And it's definitely not Andrew's either who spends all of this episode acting like a complete asshole. Bree and Rex do very little to help the situation by taking the car to a bad neighbourhood to get stolen and Bree's attempts of emotional blackmail only backfire. The only logical Van De Kamp in this whole scenario is actually Danielle who basically says everything viewers at home probably shouted at their screens last week but it falls on deaf ears. To Bree and Rex's credit it's nice to have them admit that they aren't perfect role models for their children but something needs to done with Andrew and fast. He may not be a monster but his lack of guilt for hitting Juanita seriously needs to be addressed or else Bree and Rex are gonna have more trouble on their hands than they already do now.

Meanwhile Lynette's ADD medication addiction is given better focus this week as her tries of detox are a disaster, her perfect mom routine blows up in her face and after one scary dream sequence she abandons her kids, only for Susan and Bree to finally get the truth out of her. Felicity Huffman is brilliant during her character's meltdown and Lynette is also more sympathetic here than she was last week. But while she may have fessed up to her friends, I think this probably the calm before the storm regarding this storyline. Although in terms of calm, it was electric.

When it comes to snooping abilities, Susan should really learn from her mistakes. Last time she rummaged into someone else's house the place caught fire (is that ever going to be addressed?). This time she finds Mike's gun and wads of cash and falls through the bathroom floor with only a dead bird for company (Good Bongo - kinda. Well it was funny). Naturally, Mike finds out, they bicker, he dumps her and I really don't know who I should side with on this. Mike - because Susan had no right snooping through his things and maybe should have asked him or Susan because Mike acts so suspicious even I would snoop through his stuff just to find out something about his suspicious behaviour.

It also doesn't help Mike's case that his excuse for having that much cash and a gun is complete crap nor is that picture of Susan. However some more crowd pleasing is that the two make up and shagging ensues, interjecting with another pivotal scene.

I was right. Doesn't sound very likely but I was. There was no way LB Edie was responsible for sending Mary Alice that note and the culprit was indeed Martha Huber. "My God, we almost killed an innocent woman", muttered Creepy Paul to PI Shaw. Yes, you did and that's probably the first time someone has referred to Edie like that. Even Huber had a crack of her promiscuity before kicking her out. Meanwhile the confrontation between a vengeful Paul and vindictive Huber was superb with both Mark Moses and Christine Estabrook pulling in their best performances yet, with some fabulous cat and mouse antics between the pair.

Huber well and truly got her just desserts and how ironic was it that she got killed with the same blender she never returned to Mary Alice. Now Huber is dead, Paul's only advantage for now is that she was supposed to be going away to her sister's for a few days but that won't last long. Still though rejoice: Huber's dead - wahey. Now about this baby, who I guess is Dana - did Mary Alice kill it? Is that why her and Paul moved to Wisteria Lane and how the hell did Martha find out?

    Also in "Guilty"

Edie: "I'm not gonna apologise for having a healthy sex life"

Martha:"Healthy? I'm gonna have to burn every sheets you've touched".

Martha's financial problems seem to explain her fondness for blackmail. The ants on her hand reminded me of the same way Christine Estabrook's character Emily Previn was found on Six Feet Under.

Bree:"This is the most impoverish neighbourhood in the city. Trust me someone will steal the car"

Rex:"How can you be so sure?"

Bree:"Because I have faith in the poor"

Nice selection of young actors to play different versions of Bree in the episode's beginning. One almost looked like Marcia Cross.

In the video tape of Mary Alice's birthday, it didn't appear to feature any of the housewives. Wonder how long the Young's have been in Wisteria Lane. We also haven' had a backstory as when all these women became friends yet.

Julie:"Mom if you really need something to freak about, just remember you're going to spend the night with Mike at a hotel. No man has seen you naked in years, except you're doctor"

Susan:"Yeah he retired. I try not to take that personally".

That picture Mike had of Susan was from the "Pilot" when she and Julie were discussing his arrival on Wisteria Lane. Either Mike has an accomplice or it's a slip in continuity.

    Carlos:"I want a child"

Gabrielle:"In case you forgotten, before we got married we made a deal, no kids"

Carlos:"Deals are meant to be renegotiated"

Gabrielle:"Well, we're not negotiating my uterus".

Lynette's oldest and youngest (who's a girl) are back. Tom is once again gone. Is Doug Savant only contracted for odd numbered episodes, given the ones he's appeared in so far?

WOW, this was one hell of an episode. If you though "Anything You Can Do" was brilliant, then i'm not sure how I should describe "Guilty". There was the usual: confessions made, lies kept secret, shocks, thrills, heartrending moments, fantastic comedy and red hot passion between Susan and Mike which proves scenes can be raunchy even when the actors are fully clothed. With episodes like these, it's a wonder the Golden Globes didn't nominate the series in the drama category because Desperate Housewives is getting more darker and twisted by the minute and that's more than a good thing. Plus the use of music and interjecting Susan/Mike's intimacy with Paul killing Huber was brilliant. I really didn't think this was going to be better than last week's instalment but I was so wrong. Unmissable.
