this was a much improved episode of that in recent weeks, i like the fact that susan didnt stay mad at katherine for starting a relationship with mike,

I also thought that bree storyline was quite funny even though it was a daft filler storyline it was still prettyy funny to watch

lynettes storlyine continues to be pretty serious and not very entertaining

gaby had a much better storyline this week now that crazy old women is finally gone howver i think the fact that carlous is going to get his sight back agian is jumping yhr dhsrk abit, but overall a pretty good episode this week

As usual, bad things just keep happening on Wisteria Lane in Fairview.

After the fire, people die or get blamed.

I have to say that Dave really is a creepy guy. He lives in two different world. One minute he is really nice, and then the next, "the face of a devil." However, it keeps you waiting on exactly what he has in mind. I am very curious on the past he had with Mike. After all, the hero is not easy to be. I really don't like how people blamed this fire on Porter. Afterall, his motive didn't happen. Where did he get that gun?

I can see how Dave can make things much worse than it is already.

Oh God. They're going to do it, aren't they? They're actually going to do it. I knew that whole 'five years in the future' thing was going to prove to be a little too convenient sooner rather than later. Please, please, please, Marc Cherry... don't have it happen. Don't ruin the chance to spend at least the next season or so exploring what was an incredibly brave decision on the part of your writing staff. Don't have Carlos regain his sight. It'll be a complete 'jump the shark' moment, truly. At least we don't know for certain yet... he's just going for the operation. And thus far, it has thrown up some wonderful acting from Eva Longoria and Ricardo Chavira. But I'm still not happy. Oh, yes, I almost forgot, the episode. Pretty good stuff, nicely, and creatively, structured (again) around the hospital. Felicity Huffman proves she's the best damn thing to have ever happened to this show for the millionth time. Dave goes a bit loopy, which is nice. And Andrew gets a boyfriend! Wah-hey! And he's a hottie! Double wah-hey! Now if only we can spend next week watching them doing the ugly, I'll be happy. Wah-hey!

In this episode of Desperate Housewives, the following happens. Carlos is told that there may be a way for him to get his sight back. At first Gabby is happy about this until she realises that she now looks nothing like the woman who Carlos married and he last saw her 5 years ago. Gabby soon realises that she needs to get her body back to its forma glory. So she puts herself and her daughters onto a healthy eating diet. After the accident, Orson starts to snore, which really annoys Bree. Susan discovers that Katherine is the one who has been dating Mike. Lynette gives the woman who is pregnant with Porters baby, an envelope filled with money and she leaves town. S she leaves she confesses to Lynette that there is no baby and there never was. Since Bree can't sleep due to his snoring Orson gives Bree a sleep tablet, which she accidently takes too many of. We see at the end of the episode that Orson's doctor for the snoring surgery is Andrew's new boyfriend.

Another entertaining episode of Desperate Housewives.

Bree&Orson: Their prediciment was rather amusing. Bree being dosed to high heaven on sleeping pills and making a fool of herself is a certain highlight.

Susan,Mike&Katherine: Susan found out about Mike and Kathering in this episode. She had a small fit but not as bad as previous seasons. In fact I felt quite sorry for Susan in the scene where she denied to have coffee with Katherine. Well done Teri.

Lynette&Tom: Lynette will do anything to protect her son. But she is playing with fire - sending Anne away and then lying to the cops and her own family.

Gabby&Carlos: the best one out the lot. Gabby upset that her husband will regain he's sight and her subsequent moves to get back in shape were funny. But it's Carlos' speech about how he met Gabby that wins this episode. Oh and Edie's Psycho husband is taking further steps to blame someone else!
  • Aftermath Written by Lori Kirkland Baker Directed by David Warren

    8.0
    "Great"
Dave (re being a hero): "People keep saying that but I don't feel like one".

Mike: "Well I would've been dead without you, so how about free plumbing for the rest of your life?"

On the plus side if this had been Heroes, Dave probably would've ripped off your scalp and made off with your superpower because Dave is like so obviously evil and all, what with his recent antics. That also raises a slightly interesting conundrum of what kind of superpower that someone like Mike would have. I'm guessing the answer wouldn't be the ability to attract a fair amount of enemies. Then again he has survived being shot, ran over and a fire, so perhaps he'd snag Claire's powers.

Aftermath episodes can be sort of varied on this show. For every "Welcome To Kanagawa", you've got a "Coming Home" to contend with. This episode obviously doesn't live up to the brilliance of last week but at least we can see that the effects of the fire are affecting all of the main characters.

First off all there's Dave, who actually exhibits some guilt towards the fact that he's caused the deaths of seven people due to his arson attack but evidently not enough to admit to the police that he was responsible for it. When they quiz him, he plays dumb but acts visibly uncomfortable when they bring up the fact he saved Mike.

Even a later scene with Edie seems Dave a little conflicted. She's concerned for him, which is nice but when she mentions that people believe that Porter is to blame for the arson, it gives Dave a handy get out of jail free card when he later tells the cops that he saw Porter coming out from the back before the fire broke out.

For someone clever enough this is a dumb move on his part. Not just because it draws unwarranted attention on him but also due to the fact that it never pays to make an enemy out of Lynette.

Then there are his scenes with Mike. When Dave starts talking about his brother, it becomes more obvious that Dave really does believe that Mike was the guy who murdered his brother in jail. Without defending Mike too much, if it's true, it was likely to be self-defence. There's also the possibility however that Dave could have the wrong guy as well.

Dave of course isn't the only concern that Mike has in this episode. He's eager to make his relationship with Katherine public knowledge and the latter is eager to keep it quiet. This all harkens back to Bree's forewarning that once Susan finds out, their friendship will change. Sadly, Bree was actually right.

I said in a previous review that Mike and Katherine are both adults who shouldn't have to seek Susan's permission to date each other and I stick by it. Amazingly, her finding out wasn't as badly handled as I thought it was going to be, despite at least one little wobbly on Susan's part.

Macedonian cookies have a lot to answer for. There are something Susan doesn't like and hated them when eating from Mike's gift basket at the hospital. Also in a moment that will surprise no-one, there were the very same cookies that Katherine baked in a later scene which Susan had the misfortune to eat for a second time.

Needless to say it was enough for her to realise that Mike and Katherine were dating. More importantly, Susan was pretty annoyed to find out that Bree had been privy to their relationship and made the grave error to reprimand Bree on not telling her. Although Bree is a major hypocrite nine times out of ten, I have to love her for not taking Susan's crap.

First off, Mike and Katherine dating is none of her business and secondly, it was Susan's fault (to a degree) for the way her and Mike ended. Eventually Susan does accept them as a couple but decides to distance herself from Katherine. This would be a lot more poignant if Susan and Katherine had actually spent more time in each other's company this season.

Speaking of company, there are plenty of things I can't bear but snoring is something I can live with to a degree, mainly because I snore myself (something in which one of my friends has pointed out in great detail). As childish as Bree and Orson's snoring plot was, I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

Everyone has had some injury or something from the fire and Orson's broken nose has made snore like a terrified elephant summoning a herd. As descriptions go, that's got to be one of the best I've come across in a while. It's also pretty damn accurate as Bree is determined to get a good night's sleep.

When her method of persuading Orson to have a simple correction surgery doesn't take, she puts him out of the bedroom. Orson tries to pull a fast one with a sleeping pill/camomile tea cocktail but it works a little too well.

Marcia Cross can definitely pull off drunk/high/disoriented pretty damn well and showing up for a pancake show looking totally out of it is priceless. However for Orson, it also means that he has no choice but to take the surgery or further risk the wrath of his beloved wife.

The best part about this whole plot is the doctor – Alex. Like many sane individuals, he immediately finds Bree and Orson too scary for words and begs his partner never to become that neurotic. The only problem is that his partner is Andrew and something tells me that Alex is going to regret those words by the next episode.

For viewers who have absolutely loathed Andrew not getting any action in the last three seasons, this is something of a godsend but I can't help but feel a little shafted as well. It's nice that Andrew has a serious boyfriend that he's evidently living with but we've missed all the blossoming parts as viewers. That being said, Alex is kind of cute and hopefully him and Andrew will now get more to do than Bob and Lee.

Elsewhere Gabrielle and Carlos have their own surgery plot to – Carlos is days away from getting his eye sight back. Five years has been a long time for the poor man and if the procedure finally works, he can finally shave off that hideous beard that seems destined to become a bird's nest if it grows any bigger.

Of course it's because of this possibility that the episode really goes into overdrive about Gabby's lack of beauty. While Susan's advice was cheesy, there was a degree of truth to, mainly because the producers can't make Eva Longoria Parker look dog rough if they tried.

Still she wants to be her beautiful self again and tries to do some exercise and diets because Edie of all people told her to. The flipside is trying to get Juanita and Celia to join in and clearly these stubborn kids won't help her. Then again, Gabby could've tried to make a better sales pitch with the vegetables.

However there's actually a really nice moment in this episode where Carlos tells Gabby when exactly he fell for her and it's enough to boost her self-esteem but if this surgery does work and Carlos gets his sight back, then him and Gabby should perhaps glam themselves up a bit.

Moving away from the glam side of things, the darker plot in this episode is centred on the Scavos. Lynette makes the idiotic decision to lie to the police about the extent of Porter's fight with Warren and even Tom is smart enough to realise she's telling porkies to them.

Of course like everyone else, they're worried that Porter actually did burn the club down and vow that even if he did, he won't be facing jail time any soon. I can understand Lynette's need to protect her son but you can't just go around lying to the cops either.

It's nice that she actually gets the truth out of Porter and believes him when he tells her that he didn't set the place on fire. However while I don't agree with Lynette lying to her son about Anne's whereabouts, I can't really blame her either. After all, Anne's a freaking succubus.

I know some sympathy was generated on her last week because Warren beat her up but Lynette's right to point out repeatedly that her and Porter's relationship is/was child abuse no matter how she keeps dithering on about being in love with Porter. The fact that it's also revealed that Anne was lying about being pregnant also portrays her in a bad light. Honestly, I'm glad to see the back of the character but I have a feeling this plot still isn't over just yet but on the positive side, it will/should bring Lynette into the Dave plot and I'm all for that kind of development.

Also in "Me And My Town"

The opening scene went on about Gabby's former looks and judging by the overall play on that, I can see why some people might have been offended with this episode.

Detective: "You're an honest to God hero. You should be really proud of yourself".

    Dave: "If you say so".

This episode had Gale Harold written out due to his own real life injuries. Hope he gets better soon.

Susan: "So what's her name and who am I happy for?"

    Mike: "I'm not telling you".

Gabrielle: "Do you want Mommy to be beautiful?"

    Juanita: "No".

Gabby's fashion model past was mentioned in this episode again. Why did the writers scrap the pageant plot from Season Three?

Anne: "What if I'm not ready to leave?"

Lynette: "Then you can face statutory rape charges without the money. Your call".

    Susan: "So Bree knew?"

    Katherine: "Yes".

Susan: "Okay, have a nice day".

Susan threatening to hurt someone with a pool cue is silly given that she's more likely to impale herself with one.

Bree (to Susan): "Face it, you're not mad at me or Katherine or Mike. You're mad at yourself for letting your marriage fall apart".

    Gabrielle: "We don't accept charity".

    Carlos: "We always accept charity".

Gabrielle: "Well I've turned over a new leaf".

Virginia has been forgotten but given that France Conroy was essentially wasted in the role, perhaps that's not a bad thing.

Katherine: "I didn't know what I'd do if I lost you as a friend".

Susan (re Mike): "Just take care of him. He's a good guy".

Porter: "Mom, I don't know who set the fire but it wasn't me".

    Lynette: "Of course it wasn't".

Keeping with the good sort of continuity we got a mention of Rick here. Now maybe in a few episodes time someone will mention Kayla or Preston, Penny and Parker will have something to do.

Carlos: "Did I ever tell you the first time I knew I was gonna marry you?"

Gabrielle: "First time you saw me on the runway?"

Carlos: "No that was when I knew I was gonna sleep with you".

No Karen/Roberta, Jackson, Bob/Lee or Julie in this episode or MJ for that matter. Where has that kid gone to?

As aftermath episodes go, "Me And My Town" was a fine episode with some nice character moments for everyone. I liked that the fire storyline has in some ways affected every main character and at least one couple in a positive way. Still not entirely if I like that Mike's the one Dave is after but I'm not devastated by it either.
  • Some funny parts but most of it was just average.

    7.5
    "Good"
For me Gaby's exercising was the highlight of this episode; it was hillarious and so Gaby. It was cute that he doesn't care about that and it's not why he married her. The way Susan found out about Katherine, because she recognized the cookies, was so funny. However, Bree's storyline seemed like it was a filler. I thought it was a little dumb that Orson would accidentally drug her before her presentation. The storyline didn't really go anywhere and it wasn't that entertaining either. Lynette trying to protect her son is good, because it shows she will do anything for her family, but it will get even better next week. I didn't really get Dave in this episode. I wanted to know how much he really regreted what he did.
  • In the aftermath of the fire, everyone learns something about their neighbors. Dave has trouble being a hero. Carlos may regain his sight. Susan finds out about Mike and Katherine. Bree and Orson reach a disagreement about his health and her happiness.

    9.0
    "Superb"
The fire's aftermath brings a lot of new developments for the resident's of Wisteria Lane. Carlos may regain his sight, Mike wants to go public with his relationship with Katherine especially to Susan, Bree must deal with Orson's snoring, Dave adjusts to being a hero, and Lynette and Tom deal with the accusations linking Porter to the fire.

So remember in the tornado when Carlos went blind? I always thought it was a bad idea, but now that it ties into the story of Gaby being concerned with her own body image, it is not as bad. More so now that he is going to regain his sight and see how his wife's beauty supposedly faded. It was hilarious watching Gaby do exercises while visiting Carlos in the hospital, her attempts to eat healthy and blaming her youngest daughter's large head for ruining her body, then the scene with Susan and Edie was priceless, why hasn't Eva Longoria Parker been nominated for an emmy yet?

Katherine would seem to be perfect for Mike, despite his criminal past he has always had this odd traditional wholesome family vibe, which Katherine of course fills and well she has a pretty sketchy past too. Susan, however did not take the news too well, while a stiff talking to from Bree made her accept it, she was very cold to Katherine in the end. Is this the catalyst that will bring Susan and Mike back together?

Bree and Orson are becoming quite the hilarious couple, the hilarity of this episode's story for them was priceless. Orson's snoring lead to Bree kicking him out In the aftermath of the fire, everyone learns something about their neighbors. Dave has trouble being a hero. Carlos may regain his sight. Susan finds out about Mike and Katherine. Bree and Orson reach a disagreement about his health and her happiness.of bed, and then him drugging her so that he can sleep in the bed, which lead her to reveal too much to a group of women at a department store cooking class. In the end their doctor was horrified by their crazy behavior called his new boyfriend to tell him of the horrible couple he just met, and prayed that he and his boyfriend never become like his potential in-laws, because he is dating Andrew van de Kamp. This was a great twist.

Poor Porter Scavo, he falls in love with an older woman whose husband beats her and owns a club that was recently set on fire by a crazed man with shady motives. Porter is now the lead suspect for arson and his mother is lying for him, and his father does not what to do, and the woman he loves lied about a baby and skipped town per his mother's suggestion, and to top it all off his neighbor is the one who started the fire and is the one pointing fingers. While I hope that Porter will eventually go free, I can't help but wonder is this the event that helps reveal what Karen McClucky already knows that Dave Williams is dangerous and not to be trusted.

This was a great episode that was both funny and intriguing, I can't wait for what is to come next.
  • What an exceptional episode of Desperate Housewives!

    "Superb"
This was one of the best episodes of the series so far. All the storylines were top notch. I loved the Gaby and Carlos story about Gaby worrying that if Carlos got his sight back he would find her unattractive. Susan finding out about Katherine and Mike was priceless. The Bree and Orson snoring storyline was so funny, especially the scene at the cookery demonstration after Bree had the sleeping pills. Lynette paid off Porter's lover and lied to the police. Even Edie had some funny lines. And of course the Dave Williams mystery continues to deepen. Phew - it was certainly an episode jam-packed with goodies!
  • The aftermath of the fire.

    "Great"
The dramedy is a genre that is tested by many, but very few excel the way Desperate Housewives does. The perfect combination of strong writing and quirky acting makes the show one of the highlights of my week. I was nervous about the time jump this season but this is just as good as the show has ever been.

Gabrielle is feeling insecure about her appearance and this resulted in some great back and forths between her and Edie. She is quickly on her way of topping Bree as the best character on the show (although Bree reacting to Orson's snoring was hilarious). I did not like Lynette lying to the police. She did this last season when she thought that Tom was doing things to Rick and it just does not go with her character. She's supposed to be the least, for a lack of a better word, desperate of them all, yet here she's becoming the most pathetic.

The Dave Williams mystery continues to grow and my anticipation to see the conclusion is building along with it. I've made it clear that I am not the biggest Susan fan in the world, but she was hilarious again this week. Everyone giving you a reason to laugh is quickly becoming the norm for this show.
  • Gaby is terrified for Carlos' recovery, Bree wants Orson to have surgery, Susan finds out about Katherine and Mike, Lynette pushes her boundaries and Dave's feeling guilty for his actions

    10
    "Perfect"
Gaby's first scene was hilarious. Especially when she passed that guy and he didn't react like she thought he would. I think this is a great storyline and very realistic: I think every woman who would be in this situation would start thinking the same way. The children were cute and great and the last scene with Gaby and Carlos was very touching and a highlight of the entire series. What I didn't like was the fact that there was nothing said about Virginia. I just hope she's going to pop up later in the season.

The same goes for Anne. Seeing Lynette do everything to protect Porter and paying Anne just to leave was unbelievable in a positive way. I love the new Lynette (always have in dramatic storylines) and Anne revealing there wasn't a baby after all was quite a shock. It's not really original that she was lying about that, but it's the way the writers brought it that's special. I also hope Warren is going to be back, cause I feel they should explore that storyline a little bit further then they did, even now it isn't something about Lynette anymore.

As I predicted, Susan freaked out. Not big time as usual, but still. The scene with Bree was a bit unneccesary on my part, but overal it was ok.

Bree and Orson were hilarious, especcialy the scenes where she told him about his snoring and she being sleepy at the presentation. Although I got the feeling she was more drunk than exhausted, it was still cool. Great acting too.

And there's Dave. I missed Ms. McCluskey a bit, but I like that Dave's feeling some sort of guilt. I even felt a bit sorry for him, that was until he framed Porter. Could he be after Tom after all? Is that why he frames his son? Or is it just because it's convenient? We'll see.

This show's back on track after a couple of less interesting episodes and I can't wait for next Sunday. Too bad there's a break after that one.

Let me just start off by saying that I absolutely loved this episode. All of the story lines in this episode were great, especially Bree and Susan's story lines. I loved all of Bree's interactions with Orson in this episode. Bree was especially hilarious when she was acting all loopy from the sleeping pills. I also loved the whole Susan and Katherine story line. Katherine was especially hilarious in this episode. Gabrielle's story line was great too. Their story line was also very heartwarming at the end of the episode. Gabrielle and Carlos sure are great together. Dave was great in this episode too. He was also very creepy too. The only story line that I didn't really get that into was Lynette's. I just found it pretty boring for some reason. I loved the whole reveal about Andrew and Orson's doctor at the end of the episode. All in all, I thought that this was an extremely well written, well acted and well made episode of Desperate Housewives from everyone involved, and I can't wait to see the next episode of Desperate Housewives.

Wow, dramatic episode. Carlos can get his sight back! Gabby decides she's going to get her looks back! Susan brags about how she gave blood. Haha I loved Susan's speech about the white chocolate chips and macadamia nuts. "Stupid Hawaii." LMAO! Haha Orson's snoring! I loved how Lynette lied for her son. She is such a good mom. =] Gabby's a wife who tucks her boobs into her pants! LMAO! Edie... "Yeah that's what I thought, too." "You are gonna be lookin' hot! Or hot-ish." I loved the scene with Lynette and Tom about Porter. The show is so great because of its great writing and acting.
