  • The 6th Season Begins With Mike's And Susan's Wedding. Bree Has Second Thoughts About Karl And A New Family Moves To Wisteria Lane.

    "Superb"
"Desperate Housewives" has started the season on the right note. This premiere was a lot better than the previous season's. There is still one reason why I'm not giving it a "10". But there were many things that happened here. Susan and Mike finally tie the knot - for a second time. They are ment for each for each other. I'm glad that they are back together. Bree's relationship with Karl is very funny. I'd like to see where that story goes. Marcia Cross is the most beautiful woman in the world (Blushing!)! Gaby's and Carlos's story with Ana is interesting. Lynette's pregnancy is a recycled plot device and I'm really getting sick of it. The writers could have come up with a better idea. But then again, I'm not judging because I am not a writer in this series. The new neighbors are so mysterious. This episode ends with a dramatic cliffhanger. I'm looking forward to the next episode! Bullseye!!

a ok start to season 6 with some funny gags and nice moments, Mikes bride is revealed as susan pretty ovivous really, im glad katherine didnt forive susan at the end, susan it abit horried to marry the man her best friend loved

Bree,s affiar storyline is pretty weak, the bree of the earlier years would never sleep with a man like karl.

Lynette had a pretty weak storyline i cant believe she is pregnant agian think the writers are running low on ideas

Gaby storyline with ana was ok, it is quite fun to see gaby dealing with a teenager

The new family seem intriging, hope there storyline is better then the awful dave one last year
  • When we left Desperate Housewives at the end of last season, the show was in dire straits.

    7.0
    "Good"
When we left Desperate Housewives at the end of last season, the show was in dire straits. Cherry's narrative going into the sixth year looked to be one of the worst ever - a selection of half-baked regurgitations and ludicrous character swerves. It didn't seem like there was much hope for the show; it was burning out, lacking the spark that once made it must see TV. Now, as it returns to our screens, fresh faced after a cool Summer break, the jury's still very much out but thankfully, there are shafts of light shining through.

Bree's much lamented affair with Susan's smarmy ex-husband seemed like an act of desperation at the end of last year, an attempt to breathe fresh air into a character that had become a little stale. While it is still difficult to believe that she would ever contemplate bonking the man, at least Cherry acknowledges this here, giving her more of a road towards the man. Her cleanliness obsession is completely in character and is a very good way of demonstrating, and reiterating, her morality. Gabrielle and Carlos's intake of Ana, their upstart niece, actually works rather well to begin with. The dialogue in the kitchen is completely believable, feeling just like the sort of scene you'd see in your own house at seven in the morning. Unfortunately, it descends into utter farce once Gaby infiltrates the club and the audience start lifting the girl over their heads... but we'll forgive Cherry his excesses just this once.

Lynette's narrative looked to be a complete eye-roller when it began in the season five finale - do we need to see her pop a sprog or two again?? Ack! - but at least Felicity Huffman gets some interesting beats to play; the moment when she confesses that she is unable to love her new babies is just heartbreaking and is played to absolute perfection. There's even some good stuff for Mrs McLuskey (a new beau that she's hanging out with? Yummy!) and the new family adds a suitable level of intrigue, as well as some HAWT eye candy to replace Shawn Pyfrom with in the form of Danny, uber-sexy brooder extraordinaire. Shame he seems to be a dirty straight... maybe Cherry could mix things up a bit and get him snogging Preston? No? Okay, just get his top off then. Ahem. It seems fairly obvious that he isn't the one responsible for strangling Julie, although this is the same show that had Mike Delfino be the subject f yet another mystery last year so... who knows?

Speaking of Mike, this is where the episode really falls down. While the other narratives manage to salvage something enjoyable out of their crappy conceits, the Susan/Mike/Katherine triangle is just so tired that nothing even remotely enjoyable can ever come out of it. It really doesn't matter who the guy ends up with, because the story is always going to be the same. The other party will over-react, have an attack of the green eyed monsters and there'll be friction and tension for a while. Then, when all of that settles down, the writers will feel like they have to 'spice things up', so they'll split the couple up again before spending another year getting them back together. It's an endless bleeding cycle and it's utterly infuriating. Get this cack off my screen now, please. It's bloody insulting. At least Katherine has a fairly human reaction to the whole debacle. I think I'd be a bit ticked off if my lover said something along the lines of, "hey, I was going to marry you but actually, I've changed my mind and I'm gonna marry my ex instead. Have a nice day!" How rude! Sadly, her anger cannot rescue what is ultimately a horrorshow of a storyline. Honestly, cull these characters and Housewives would be ten times better. As it is now, every six or seven minutes, I just want to throw things at the TV.
  • A fantastic start to season six

This episode first aired in the UK on January 27th 2010 and i was immediately impressed by it.

First of all, Susan as the bride was obvious yet surprising at the same time. The niceness of her wedding was rather emotional and sweet.

Its nice to see Marcia Cross being naughty for a change. Its funny how uptight Bree has developed into a real desperate housewive (with Richard Burgi!)

Lynette's blind panic was fun to watch, but her emotions were getting the better of her and i wonder whether she can really love these ne children or not.

Gabrielle and her niece go to war - but its nice to see a role reversal of sorts (Ana is a mini Season one Gabby) and its nice to see Eva Longoria take charge and be a grown up for a change.

The Bolens are weird. Full stop. But the episode belongs to the beautiful Dana Delany. She plays the game of emotional swingball throughout - when she steals susan's wedding dress and when she's locked in the closet is funny, yet when susan apologises to her its sad and emotional.

Oh and Julie's back, which is nice. Except the ending. That wasn't so nice....

Another great episode of DH. There is always emotions, drama, homour, love and etc. I'm laughing every time I'm watching this show. A very great episode, great first episode of the 6th season or is it 7th? Anyway, a very good episode. I just love Gabrielle on this show. So funny. The new family seems to be scary so I don't think I like them, but it can be intressing with some "action". I was happy to see that Susan and Mike got married for the second time, cause I don't like Kathrine. DH is one of my TV-shows drugs ;)
  • it's a great episode and a great comeback for desperate housewives. it gave me very high expectations for this season.

First, Gabrielle is still struggling with Carlos' niece. I loved this part of the episode because Eva Langoria was funny and at the same time dramatic.

Bree was so hilarious, she wants everything to be perfect and clean even her affair.

Lynette's story is so emotional especially in her last scene when she said she doesn't love her babies, and I hope she'll learn to love them.

The mystery women that Mike marries is revealed. I'm glad that it was Susan even if I feel bad for Katherine. And their wedding was really funny.

The new neighbors are really creepy. the mother has a big scar on her back I think it's a burning scar. The son is really troubled I am sure he's the one who tried to kill Julie. And if it's not him it's definitely the father because the suspect went in the direction of Mary Alice's house.

At last, I wish that the rest of the season will be this great and that they won't disappoint us.

It will be my first review after holidays.

I choose "desperate Housewives" because that is great serial with great characters and story.

After first five seasons I was really courious what producers can make with this serial. Now after first episode of six season I can say they make it really good "again" :)

The "Nice Is Different Than Good " look us some interesting things about actually live on Wisteria Lane. There are coming new next-door neighbours with mysterious past ... husband can by psycho ? wife hmm what she has on her back ?? and son ... he must be psycho what we can see at the end of episode ...

By that in episode we can see drama story of Katherine , Susan and Mike what happend after Mike rescue Susan ... happend next wedding with ... Susan :)

Gaby has a lot of problems with teenage girl from Carlos family. I think the best funny plot in this episode was romance Bree with Karl ... Brees behaviour is so funny :)"new carpet" haha and of course I must say something about Lynette ... so Lynette she do not wanna to has another childrens (twins) she even say "I dont love them" what next ?? abortion ?? I dont think so , we will see :)

Summary great start of new season

  • Well, all I can say is that Desperate Housewives is back with more juicy stuff. I have a very high expectations for this brand new season.

Desperate Housewives is by far one of my favorite TV shows ever. And why is that? Because the series had had me in the uncertainty of what gonna happen next, and always comes up with something that makes me say WOW! everytime. And the season six doesn't seems to me be the exception. Only the first episode was release and I'm already thrilled and excited. The way they mix mystery, drama and comedy is the formula of the show's big success. Really, DH put me in sock for the complete five seasons and I'm feeling that I WILL be feeling this for a lot more.
  • How I missed the good ol' soothing narration of Brenda Strong...

The ladies of Wysteria Lane are back in business for the 6th season. We have a new housewife who will be taking the baton from Dave Williams by giving us the next mystery. I guess the mystery will be similar to Betty Applewhite story, which pretty much deals with a shady housewife having a problem son. The opener filled us up with events that happened after the Dave Williams saga. It also cleared up the mystery that left us hanging at end of season 5. The housewives are dealing with a fresh set of affairs, problems, and responsibilities. Gaby has to deal with a teenage girl after signing up to be her legal guardian. Lynette has twins again, and has a tough time dealing with more kids. Bree causes more misery for Orson by sleeping with Karl. And Katherine plots something really vengeful against Susan

And whats up with the ending? Is Andrea Bowen killed off? I honestly don't mind her leaving. She is one of those in the cast, who really really can't act.
  • Fun, throwback like episode.

    "Good"
This season premiere delivered everything that was to be expected. The bride was revealed, a new mystery has begun (although it is eerily similar to a few we have already seen) and the same old humor was there. One thing to appreciate is how Desperate Housewives has evolved as the four stars are now much older than they were 6 years ago (11 years ago in storyline) and the writers aren't trying to hide that. They are no longer supposed to be attractive, man-chasing divas, they are middle-aged parents/guardians who deal with the daily struggles of suburbia.

Performance of the night from a comedic standpoint goes to Eva Longoria Parker, whose Gabrielle Solis may be one of the most entertaining parents on TV (right up there with George Juergens on The Secret Life) and performance of the night from a dramatic standpoint goes to Felicity Huffman who continues to be one of the best supporting actresses on television and shows why the Sports Night alumni can still rule primetime TV.

I am excited for this season and the Susan/Katherine war (is Katherine just going to be the new Edie?) but for some reason I am not excited about the upcoming season as I was last year.

I was actually surprised that Mike married Susan and not Kathrin. I'm so glad! I wonder if Katharine will pull an "I'm pregnant" with Mike? I don't care much for Bree's story. Why would she get involved with a cheater like Karl? And I'm sad things didn't work out for her and Orson, I really liked his character.

What a bummer Lynette doesn't want her twins. I loved having twins and would have another set in a heart beat.

I think Gaby could have something a lot more interesting to do then babysit a teenager. Don't care for her story either.

All in all it looks pretty bleak for everyone except Susan (for a change). She can actually be happy now and I like Katharine having a juicy crazy lady story to play out.
  • Explaining what happened in the two months before the mystery wedding, Lynette has troubles with dealing with the fact there's new life on it's way, Gaby can't put up with Ana's behaviour, Bree continues her affair and a new family moves in

    7.5
    "Good"
Although I don't get the title story-wise, it sure fits the episode. It's nice, but far from good.

Dominating the entire episode is the wedding unfolding, but too bad this isn't that interesting. Susan being the bride was pretty predictable and this storyline will do anything but make her seem more sympathetic towards the audience. Katherine is the victim here and although I fear this will be stretched out too far, I'm glad Delany is finally getting something interesting to do again. And although Susan avoiding Katherine succesfully for several weeks is unrealistic, the confrontations at Bree's and in the church were great. The scenes were awkward, but it's a daring and interesting move to literally drive one of the housewives insane. I've always been on Katherine's side in the Mike triangle (who even wants this guy?) and I'm glad she's sort of the 'good one' in this. I'm just afraid not a lot of viewers are interested in this storyline, which is not very good for the ratings.

Julie's introduction was, as was the episode, too rushed and it was like 'just accept she's there'. The cliffhanger was good though, and even though it's outcome is predictable, it's still interesting to see how the mystery will develop.

Bree had some good scenes, like the hotel thingy, but for the rest, it felt like I was watching something like Melrose Place. Stretching the divorcing-Orson storyline is the worst thing they could've done and also this will be taking too long to stay interesting.

Another disappointing storyline which looked very promising in the last season finale, was Gaby's. I liked her dealing with younger kids better and this is already feel stale. Pairing McCluskey and Gaby is o.k., but I'm not sure I like McCluskey having a 'male companion'. Damn, I'm missing Edie already.

Lynette was a surprise. I expected the comedy to be great (at the doctor's waiting), but I never thought the drama would really get to me from the first episode. The scene in which she thinks she doesn't love the babies had some great acting and writing and I hope the storyline will continue in this genre (so not too much comedy). Although it sounds rude, I'm hoping she'll have a miscarriage, since I'd rather see Lynette dealing with something like that than with two more babies.

The new family's o.k. so far, but Drea De Matteo was horribly underused in this episode. I also would've liked to see her real introduction to the housewives, like we've had every year, but I'm intrigued. The mystery looks good and although I'm pretty sure the scar won't have anything to do with the mystery (I could be wrong though), you could feel there's something odd. I didn't like the scene with Julie and Nick though, but Drea and Beau Mirchoff look like a great addition.

All in all, it feels like they're taking a new direction with DH and it'll take some adjusting, but I think I could get used to the whodunnit kind of feeling. But it was all much too rushed and the viewer's thrown in too much to really care from the very first moment. I did like the hints towards earlier episodes (Katherine rushing out of the church = Bree at Rex' funeral in the S2 premiere, Lynette having an echo of her baby in the series premiere, Gaby signing the paper = Carlos forcing her to sign the papers somewhere in season 1) and it reminded me a lot of the season 3 premiere. Let's hope this season will be better than the previous one!
  • A mediocre episode is saved by a great ending

    8.5
    "Great"
I love Desperate Housewives as much as anyone. But I think we can all agree last season wasn't exactly their best stuff. It seems the novelty of this juicy series as worn off, and in the hopes of staying exciting, the creators sometimes tend to write themselves into corners. This season premiere is a prime example of the best and worst of this.

I was excited to get back to the Wysteria Lane exploits, but that all seeped away when I was reminded where we left off with all the plots. Bree and Karl are starting their affair, which really isn't all that interesting just yet. The fun and games haven't really taken off because Bree is too picky about where they commit their discretions. The bed sheet stuff was good for a few chuckles, but other than that, nothing of note to report here. (I think Orson might have shown up to say something. Can't remember- he's insignificant now, lol.)

Some of last season's best stuff came from watching Gaby deal with raising kids for the first time. I guess the writers are already tired of that- or ran out of ideas, or just got impatient, because now the gimmick is Gaby raising a feisty teenager. There's a moment where Gaby crashes a party that should have played out a lot funnier. It was just meh. Only now instead of eating crayons and coordinating playdates, she has to worry about protecting this kid from alcohol and sex. It would have been interesting if they brought a teenage boy into the mix instead. Second verse, same as the first, really.

The better parts of the episode came from the other 2 stories.

Lynette now has to deal with the reality of having 2 more kids in an already packed house. And she absolutely hates the thought of it. This was the least touched on of the 4 plots, and yet it provided some of the best scenes. The first was Lynette's tirade on another expectant young mother in a waiting room. Laugh out loud material! The second was an emotional scene at the end where she confesses to Tom that she doesn't love these babies. Once again Felicity Huffman plays it at just the right note. But the main plot of the week revolved around Susan and Mike's wedding, and how Katerine would be taking it. Given Susan's knack for trying to avoid uncomfortable situations, and the 'unstable' nature of Katherine, this provided some genuinely great situations, equal parts cute, funny, and surprisingly tense! From the first house-visit at the beginning, to the dress fiasco, to the wedding itself, there is great build here, and even better payoff. We can't forget this is Mike's wedding too, and his confrontation with Kat was a great moment for him. I was worried where it was all going to end up- I sorta didn't want everyone to kiss and make up, and sure enough, the writers read my mind, and it looks as if Katherine herself may be a bit of a villain this season! Now THAT is something to explore!

Lastly I want to comment on this 'new creepy family of the week' (or season, I guess). It's too early to form an opinion either way, but like the Applewhites and Dave, let's not get into the habit of dragging the mystery out at a snail's pace, shall we? Successful new additions to the show (The Mayor from S3 and Dana Delany herself from S4) work best the more they interact with the housewives, not the more they keep to themselves. Loved the ending. Fugly Julie may have been murdered! Yes! More risks like this, please!
  • A new family moves into Mary Alice's old house; Susan and Katherine knock heads over Mike; Gabby continues to deal with her niece; Lynette struggles to come to terms with her pregnancy; and Bree engages in an affair with Karl.

    "Superb"
What a great premiere. I've been looking forward to this, and I'm happy to report that it did not disappoint.

First of all, the "icy" Katherine is back! I loved, loved, LOVED seeing the edgier side of her; I look forward to seeing where the writers take her this season. (Her comment to Susan as she walks out of the church was priceless.)

I also relished seeing a slightly different side to Bree. Personally, I think she and Karl have that certain spark that is a lot of fun to watch. I'm curious to see how Orson is going to deal with all of this.

Poor Lynette. She's struggling with the fact that not only is she pregnant, but she's got twins on the way. Felicity's performance here was so beautiful; expect to see her name called out at the Emmy nominations next year.

In the fifth season, I thought the one character who benefited most from the five-year jump was Gabrielle, and I still hold to that thought. She's definitely quite a different person now. Can't wait to see where the relationship with the niece goes.

And Karen McCluskey has a boyfriend now. Awesome!

As for the mystery, well, it's gonna be a dark one, that's for sure. I just hope the writers take their time with it, much like they did with Katherine's story in season 4. Lots of potential for this story; and Drea DeMatteo was a perfect addition to the cast. This family's definitely hiding something nasty, especially the son, Danny.

And the final moments....shocking and heartbreaking. That's all I'm gonna say.

I might be overselling this, but I'll be damned if I didn't love this premiere. I'm definitely interested in seeing how all of these stories unfold.
  • Katherine's snarkier side makes a comeback, Bree craves for Karl, but she wants the affair to be perfect, Gabrielle has trouble dealing with a teenage version of her, Lynette doesn't love her twins, and the new family gets off on the wrong foot.

    9.5
    "Superb"
Incredible episode. It made a great comeback to Season 5 and I have not seen a better episode like that since Season 4, but that's too modest. That episode was back to Season One standards, by far.

However, the identity of Julie's attacker at the end of was incredibly obvious. The new family must have a jaw-dropping secret. The nasty thing on Angie's back was so disgusting!! EW. I love the new family. A+

Bree's affair with Karl goes weird when Bree wants to have her first time with him at a fancy place. Not much to say. Didn't interest me, but it was all in good fun. B-

Katherine gets her snarky side back, haunts Susan, and she will not let this go. A+

Julie returns and she is strangled at the end of the episode, not digging the red hair, but the return of her character brings back some excellent humor that the show has been longing for A+

Lynette doesn't love her kids sounds like an interesting storyline. I wonder if something bad might happen to them and she won't care and it'll affect who she is majorly A+

All in all, an excellent episode. I'm excited for next week and this season got off on a good start, sadly, that can't be said for the new family though, who's suspicion has aroused and the strange behavior has finally abated--and the skeleton has come out of the closet, for sure.
