Edie's biggest fear comes true when Carlos finally leaves her. Edie asks him if there is someone else, and Carlos says there isn't. Edie knows he's lying, and decides to take revenge upon him by marching straight to the IRS to tell on his illegal bank account of ten million dollars in the Cayman Islands. Gabrielle leaves a message on Victor's cell phone to tell him she's breaking up with him. Later, Milton Lang meets with Gabrielle at her house. He heard the voice mail message first and deleted it, because he wants Gabrielle to stay with Victor until he is elected governor. Milton is willing to offer her a substantial amount of money, but she can only get it if she stays married to Victor for the next thirteen months.
Meanwhile, Edie is told by the IRS agent that the offshore bank account numbers she gave do not exist. Edie confronts Carlos about him moving the money, and he denies ever having it in the first place. Edie swears he is going to pay for what he did to her. Gabrielle talks things over with Carlos. She says that if they wait just a bit longer, when they finally get together, they will have enough money to start a new life with the right foot. Carlos replies by saying she doesn't have to stay with Victor, that he has a bank account of ten million dollars. Gabrielle is happy at first, but then realizes he had the money while they were getting divorced. Carlos kept it from her, so she wouldn't get half of it in the process. Gabrielle is infuriated, and ends it all with Carlos, because she can't trust him anymore. Gabrielle plans to go on all by herself, but when she plans to get away, Victor is waiting for her, and says he will make up things up for her. He starts ripping pages off of his appointment book, because he says that being governor is his father's dream, but being with Gabrielle is his own dream. Gabrielle is touched by this.
Later, Edie meets Victor at his house, and shows him the pictures her private investigator took of Carlos and Gabrielle kissing.
Susan is shocked to learn that Mike's father is alive, when he had told her on their first date that he was dead. Mike reveals he is in prison, and that he didn't tell it to her on their first date because he was embarassed to admit it. Susan wants to meet with Nick Delfino, Mike's dad, to discuss hereditary diseases in his family. Susan meets her father-in-law in jail, and asks what happened. He tells her he killed his former colleague after he was promoted over him, getting the position he wanted by spreading lies about Nick. Susan is horrified to know that Nick doesn't feel any sort of remorses for what he did. Susan and Mike talk about it in their room, and Susan says she doesn't want her son to have Nick's genes because he apparently doesn't have a soul. She meets with Nick again the next day, to ask him if he doesn't have a conscience, if he doesn't regret what he did. Nick says he doesn't, but there is one thing he does regret: making Mike a "son of a murderer". He then tells Susan to keep an eye on Mike, because he became very troubled after what happened with his father.
New neighbors Bob Hunter and Lee McDermott are throwing a Halloween party, and everyone is invited. They start by inviting Bree, because they assume she is more gay-friendly because of her son Andrew. Bob and Lee witness Danielle at her bedroom window while they're talking to Bree, and ask if that's her daughter. Bree, trying to hide the fact that her daughter is back, replies by saying that's Andrew, who's going as Cher this year. Danielle wants to come to the party, but Bree refuses to let her go. Andrew wants to attend as well, and Bree agrees to let him go, but implies he is going as a pop culture diva. In Danielle's room, she and Bree talk about the baby, and Danielle says she can't wait for the damn child to come out of her, because it has been ruining her life for the last year. Bree says once the baby is born, it's going to be hard for her to give him up, but she doesn't believe that.
At the party, Bree is shocked to see that Danielle has come as well...dressed as her mother! Bree thinks Danielle's imitation of her is ridiculous and inaccurate, but it doesn't take long for everyone to realize who Danielle is disguising as. Julie is happy to see her friend is back. Katherine arrives at the party dressed as Marie Antoinette, and Adam arrives dressed as Frankenstein. At the party, Danielle's water breaks, and the Hodge/Van De Kamp family heads home right afterwards. Bree gets Adam to deliver the baby. The Scavo kids are trick-or-treating nearby, and they come to Bree's doorstep. When she doesn't answer, they go around the house and witness Frankenstein holding a baby in his hands. They scream and run away. Adam promises not to tell anyone what happened, and Danielle is in her room when Bree walks in with the baby in her arms. Danielle wants to hold it, and Bree asks her if she is certain of what they're doing, letting Bree have the baby pose as hers. Danielle says she is, that it is the best thing for all involved. The next day, she leaves for college, obviously heartbroken.
Lynette arrives home from chemotherapy, and is angry to realize there is a possum in the Scavos' yard. Lynette wants to kill the possum desperately, and after the traps and poison don't work, she seeks Bree's help with guns. Tom, who was at the Halloween party, tells Lynette to let it go, but Lynette tells him they have to get rid of something awful that got into their home uninvited. Tom can see that the possum is serving as a metaphor for Lynette's cancer, and lets her do what she wants to do. Lynette gets rid of the possum, finally, and later that night Dr. Rushton visits the Scavos to let them know that Lynette is finally cured from cancer. Stella and Tom are ecstatic, and Lynette comes outside to breathe a sigh of relief, now that the fear for her life has ended. She then sees the possum lying next to her fence, sits next to it, and tearfully apologizes to it.
