This episode marks a new record for a string of guest appearances in every one of the first episodes of a season, starting with its premiere. The record holder is Brian Austin Green (Keith Watson). The longest streak starting with the first episode of a season for guest stars previously belonged to Brent and Shane Kinsman (Preston and Porter Scavo, respectively) in season 1 and Gale Harold (Jackson Braddock) in season 5, with 8 continuous guest appearances each.
When Bree is talking to Richard Watson in Keith's apartment, Richard looks at the TV and says he's watching "Wheel of Fortune". However, he turns it off immediately after implying he'll be watching it.
This episode marks the first time in a season that no characters are killed off within the first nine episodes. Even in the following episode, which includes the yearly catastrophe, no one dies.
Lynette: We're not gonna let you destroy this street. Paul: I don't have to. You're going to do it yourselves.
(Susan brings an inebriated Renee back to the latter's house) Renee: And that's how you get out of payin' for a taxi. Susan: Well, we weren't in a taxi, we were in my car. But now I know why you showed me your boobs.
Renee: (to Susan) When you said you were the fun one on the Lane, who was your competition... the mailbox?

With this episode, Eva Longoria Parker (Gabrielle Solis) is back to being billed as simply "Eva Longoria" (a credit she hadn't received since the third season finale). This is due to her separation from pro-athlete Tony Parker.
Although credited, James Denton (Mike Delfino) is absent from this episode. Charlie Carver (Porter Scavo), Joshua Logan Moore (Parker Scavo), Darcy Rose Byrnes (Penny Scavo) and Mason Vale Cotton (MJ Delfino) are too absent, and therefore are not credited. Madison De La Garza (Juanita Solis) is the only "also starring" castmember to appear and be credited, making it the first time in the series only one "also starring" regular is billed.
This episode marks the directorial return of Arlene Sanford, who hadn't directed for the show since the second season episode "Coming Home".
Episode Title: The title of this episode comes from a song that was cut from the Stephen Sondheim musical Follies.
