this was a pretty enjoyable episode of desperate housewives with some pretty decent storylines

I liked susans storylines with dave it was pretty funny with her stealing all his knives and ties and stuff, also there was a pretty huge revelaion here aswell as we learn it wasnt mike who was driving the car that killed daves family it was susan i have to say didnt see that coming so now the question is how is dave going to change his plan for revenge

Gaby had a filler this week but it was still funny i thought the scenes with tom were pretty funny

Lynette also had a good week i liked her scenes with carlous We got to see more of katherine this week now that edie is gone and that was nice

bree had a ok stryline as she comes to the descion to divorce orson overall a good episode

Back to business following the death of Edie, and its laughs all round thanks to of Susan, Gabby, Lynette, Carlos and Tom.

Ok so i am loving the storylines that see Lynette and Tom paired with Gabby and Carlos, nice to see Tom getting alot more screen time and Lynette and Carlos have a great friendship, glad to see the writers bringing that back. The whloe thing with Lynette being rescued by Carlos after a fall in the tub was great, very funny, as was Gabby going head to head with Tom over flirting with a woman at a garden club. The final showdown at the dinner table between the 4 was perhaps the funniest moment of the series. Susan too had great comedy in this episode i loved her removing Daves belts and knives thinking he was going to kill himself and then being pulled over by a cop just as Katherine drove past. lol

The whole Bree/Orson storyline felt a bit dull I have 2 say, but now she plans on divorcing him so hopefully things will spice up, Orson seems to have really stepped back into his evil ways recently.

Overall one of the funniest epsides of the season that also sees Dave move his focus away from Mike and Katherine and onto Susan and MJ. Creepy!!!
  • Generally, this is a fairly solid episode that manoeuvres everyone into position for the amateur dramatics that will inevitably ensue in the finale.

Generally, this is a fairly solid episode that manoeuvres everyone into position for the amateur dramatics that will inevitably ensue in the finale. Sensibly, the writing staff continue to marry Gaby and Carlos's storyline with Lynette and Tom's, which keeps things fresh for all parties and ensures that they don't fall back on old tricks. While Lynette's fall in the tub and subsequent embarrassment at her nudity is mildly amusing, it's the scene at the dinner table that really packs a punch, containing some stellar one-liners and crackling with every increase in the undercurrent of emotional tension. The fallout of Orson's duplicitous antics during 'A Spark. To Pierce The Dark' is well handled; credit to Marcia Cross for doing an upstanding job of portraying Bree's colossal disappointment in her husband, as well as her stiff upper lip, which is perfectly in keeping with her character. Oh and nice to see Shawn Pyfrom in a shirt that accentuates his nipples. *ahem* Erm, anyway... Susan's encounters with Dave are well written too and shine a much-needed light on the reality of the Dash accident, illustrating that no, the writers hadn't made a massive gaffe by making Dave pursue Mike rather than Susan. Of course, now it looks like we're going to have one hell of a showdown in the coming weeks that'll tug on the heartstrings and keep nails being bitten all across the world, despite the fact that they're never going to kill little MJ. Good stuff overall, with the only real let-down being Mike's apparent questioning of his relationship with Katherine which comes far too close to season's end for my taste. Please, please, please don't have him run to Susan in 522. Please?

Tom (re Patty): "She's being nice."

Gabrielle: "That's her thing. She'd give you the bra off her back."

Yeah, there are some people who would do absolutely anything for another person with no ulterior motives. The problem is that such a person has yet to exist on Wisteria Lane. Everyone on this show has an agenda and everyone is hiding from something or someone, it's that simple.

Orson should definitely know about hiding. Getting bashed across the head by an old lady during one of his pathetic attempts of stealing certainly raises questions and Orson's answers are pretty half-baked to politely put it.

Instead of pretending that he embarrassingly tripped, why did he feign memory loss or pretend that he had been mugged? He might have actually been able to pull off such lies with a bit more conviction than the excuses he loaded on both his doctor and Bree.

Another lie that Orson participated in was telling Bree that he wanted to be happy with her. Two episodes go, he wanted her to sell their only source of income. Bree might not be perceptive but surely she shouldn't have needed Andrew to point out that Orson's sudden change of heart was suspect at best?

Andrew hasn't exactly played a huge role in this season and with the finale approaching, you'd think we'd get some more stuff on him and Alex but he's had some excellent moments and advising Bree to have a divorce lawyer on the ready is certainly a good point.

Katherine only speeded things up by telling Bree about her run in with Rose. Rose was the woman with excellent baseball bat skills but Orson tried to make the poor woman seem senile. Katherine being a visiting friend to Rose didn't particularly ring but I guess the writers needed to find some device to get Bree to learn about Orson's most recent act of thieving.

So with Bree set to divorce Orson, I guess Rose's purpose has more or less been served. They could keep her around if the writers want to take it further and actually have Orson go to prison yet again but sadly, I think this poor lady will be heading for a retirement home regardless. When it came to heading places, it was interesting to see most of the ladies trying to take an active interest in making sure that Dave was okay. Dave did almost let his true colours show when he lashed out at Mike but it was Susan who made the biggest impact on Dave all through the episode.

Susan persevered to help Dave in her own ham fisted ways when Dave made it more than clear that he actually wanted to be left alone. For a brief second when Susan found his gun, there was a glimmer of hope that she might have realised Dave's true intentions but her first reaction was fear for his safety.

Susan's stupidity can be frustrating but this was one of those times when she acted foolishly for good reasons. Removing virtually anything that she thought Dave would use to aid his own death was oddly admirable but getting arrested because it looked like she was a dangerous person strictly played this scene for laughs.

Many viewers complained that it made no organic sense for Susan to confess to Dave that she was the one driving (which to be fair was established back in "You're Gonna Love Tomorrow") the car that wound up killing Lila and Paige and that plot wise, everything has officially run out of steam.

I do have to agree with viewers but a part of me would rather Dave after Susan than Mike, although a) I don't want him to actually succeed in hurting MJ and b) I would actually like to see Susan save herself, rather than be rescued by Mike. However Dave's sudden interest in MJ is worrying and that's putting it nicely.

Somewhat less worrying in this episode was the fun side of friendships. I have to admit that giving Gabrielle and Tom more scenes together has actually been fun. Tom's actually less annoying when he's with nearly everyone but Lynette and Gabby fares pretty well into the equation as well.

I suppose I should sympathise with Edna who wanted to garden but I can understand why Gabby felt more at home looking at plants while she gossiped and knocked back margaritas and getting Tom to overthrow Edna's gardening was a nice move. Too bad that Patty trying her case with Tom nearly shattered this new friendship.

I don't think that Gabby thinks Tom would cheat on Lynette but the fact is that anyone can cheat and Gabby even admitted that she never thought she would've cheated on Carlos with John but she did. I guess Gabby did view herself as mainly a monogamous woman.

The other fun element of the episode was having Lynette and Carlos making the foolish error of hiding the fact that he had to help her to her bed when she slipped in the shower. The plot came from a fourth season episode of Sex And The City and while Carlos might not be the Aidan of this show, Lynette certainly is the Miranda. I guess that might be why I like her so much.

Tom was stupid to overreact over the thing when Lynette's safety should've factored more than another man seeing his wife naked. However despite the fun element of the dinner table arguments, I'm glad that everything more or less resolved itself. Carlos and Lynette have no awkwardness around them and Gabby sympathised with Tom not seeing Lynette as much as he used to. Overall, it made for some hugely enjoyable moments.

As for Katherine's bombshell on Mike. I can't even see how it's that shocking. She felt insecure, came up with a motive for Mike to move in with her so she could get closer. It's not the worst thing that anyone has done on this show but the look on Mike's face makes me think that Katherine shouldn't get her hopes up just yet. I'm surprised he didn't literally bolt from the bed when she decided to get all confessional on him.

    Also in "Rose's Turn"

Rose Kembler has survived a dead husband, five children, the loss of her teeth, illness and bankruptcy.

Orson (to Bree): "If I can decide to be resentful and jealous, then I can damn well decide to be happy and be the kind of husband you deserve."

    Mike: "I'm trying to help."

Dave: "You can't so why don't you go to Katherine and your happy little life and leave me alone."

Dave told Susan that he intended to sell Edie's house and put the money in a trust for Travers. I actually think that Dave is feeling guilty for Edie's death.

Gabrielle: "Hey are men allowed to join the group?"

Patty: "I don't know why they wouldn't be."

    Gabrielle: "Ladies, start your blenders."

Bree: "I didn't raise you to be ****

Andrew: "You raised me to be passive aggressive. The **** was self-taught."

Where is Alex nowadays? I'll assume that we'll get to see him during the finale.

Mike (re car crash): "Susan, we did what we had to do."

Susan: "And look where that got us."

Tom: "Full disclosure, Lynette. That's what a marriage is all about."

Gabrielle: "So did you fully disclose your friendship with Patty Rizzo?"

Tom was working out in this episode and was resentful when Lynette refused to sleep with him.

Carlos: "Lynette, I saw you without your towel. You got nothing to be embarrassed about."

Chronology: A couple of days since "Look Into Their Eyes And You See What They Know".

"Rose's Turn" to me is another turning point episode. Strong with certainly plots (Susan/Dave, Bree/Orson) and hilarious with others (Lynette/Gabby/Tom/Carlos), it's only just Mike/Katherine who let the side down a tad.
  • pretty standard but good. lots of humour

This episode had a bit of a 'back to business' feeling. Edie's now gone :-( and everyone is carrying on as normal - except that Dave is understandably depressed, and the gals do the nice supportive thing of checking in on him and taking him casseroles etc. Ultimately while trying to assuage Dave's guilt over Edie, Susan reveals it is she who drove the car that killed D's wife and child and in that moment a big bullseye appears over her heart. The other storylines were less sombre. Tom flirting with a neighbourhood tramp. hmmm. a neighbourhood tramp appears the week after Edie's ashes are sprinkled. hmmmmm. Well, i guess the orson/bree/rose storyline was darker too - with rose sent to an institution because of orson, and bree ready to get a divorce - that's looking pretty grim. orson is actually a pretty scary guy underneat that veneer of polite words, conservative hair and good posture.

All in all a pretty good ep.
  • Bree is still uncertain about Orson; Gabby and a few of her garden club friends form a rivalry against the uptight president of the club; Tom's eye wanders to another woman; and Susan shares her secret about the accident to Dave.

There it is! I've been waiting all season for the series to throw me a fast one, and it finally happened. We now know a little more about the mystery surrounding the accident; and it seems there really IS more to it than we realized. Boy, this is going to be good. And dark. Very, very dark indeed.

Bree/Orson. I honestly don't know what to think about their storyline this season. I've loved Bree as always, but what's up with Orson's radical change in behavior? Am I the only one who's not completely buying his desire to steal? I mean, yeah, it's understandable that Orson would be somewhat unhappy, given everything he's had to endure, but...I think the writers are reaching. But that's just me. Although I will admit, it is kind of nice to see the darker Orson surface.

Lynette/Tom. I have to admit to have enjoyed their stories more this season than I have in the past. It's great to see the reversal of roles again, with Lynette working and Tom being the stay-at-home dad. I wonder why we haven't seen much of the twins?

Gabby/Carlos. I thought Gabby's scenes with her garden club friends were a hoot. And I also liked the connection that was made between she and Tom. Those two really do make a great team.

Katherine. Oh, I loved her in this episode. I think she's been severely underused this season, but this episode allowed me to kinda fall in love with her a little more. I see now that the chemistry between she and Mike isn't supposed to sizzle, since she's the one looking for commitment, and not Mike.

Susan/Dave. This was beautiful. It really feels like Susan wants to help Dave through Edie's death; but, for those who've seen it, we learn something more about what happened the night of the accident. And truthfully, it completely restored my interest in the mystery, and even makes me a tad nervous as to what is going to happen to M.J. That final scene was just chilling.

I think we're in for a really great ending. Yeah, it's been a bumpy season, but it's one of the few shows I'll still come back and watch every week, and I'm glad I stuck with it, even despite its flaws.
  • So how does the first Edie-less episode fare?

    "Great"
The best I can say is that this episode made me smile. I enjoyed getting snippets of the traditional quirkiness that my ladies are known for. Lynette's one-liners about the shower incidents, Susan's hilarious "cleaning up Dave's house" scene, and a surprisingly enjoyable spin on what Gaby would be like in a gardening club. All fun stuff. Intermingling Gaby/Carlos and Lynette/Tom made for one really great dinner scene, the highlight of the night. I still don't care much for Bree's stuff with Orson, who at this point is so lost for a storyline, I wouldn't mind the divorce. A shame since I thought he and Bree were such a perfect match early on. Katherine was given more lines this week (now that the cast has been freed up), but she still hasn't been given anything to do. A light hint at desperation for Mike seemed a bit out of character for the once strong and mysterious woman. Doesn't suit her.

While Dave moped over the loss of Edie (is he sincere, because he did try to kill her himself, or is he just putting on a show- one can never tell with this guy), he made a juicy discovery that it was in fact, Susan who was driving the car the night his family was killed. Now Dave has all new motives in plan, and they may involve Susan and Mike's kid, MJ. Strong ending. Though I will understand if some feel like they've been bouncing Dave's intended targets around like a shooting gallery at the fair. (McClusky, Mike, Susan, Katherine, Susan again, now maybe MJ- jeez)
  • And we're desperate once again! Orson tries to hide the truth from Bree, Katherine surprises Mike, Gaby introduces Tom in the garden club, Carlos rescues Lynette after she falls in the shower. In the meanwhile, Susan reveals her dark secret to Dave.

    "Perfect"
In the final part of the 'trilogy' surrounding Edie's death, things finally get more serious. The mystery got more attention than other weeks and it feels like the storylines are more grown up. It looks like Desperate Housewives is entering its adult fase.

    --Katherine--

I wasn't surprised to see she got some more screentime now that Edie's gone and it was nice to see her interacting with an old woman again. I remembered how great she was in S4's episode with Aunt Lilly and I got a glimpse of the old Katherine again. When she told Bree about Rose, it was obvious she left out the part about Orson running in front of Edie's car just to stretch things out, but it was nice. The only thing that bothered me, was that she drove along when she saw Susan getting arrested. What kind of friend does that?

    --Lynette--

The silly storyline of the episode. She and Tom discussing sex was hilarious and they finally had something to do besides work and children. And once again, there's proof you shouldn't invite Tom and Lynette over for dinner. I actually feel some sort of chemistry between Lynette and Carlos (not at first sight, but it was already there when they had the kiss-episode in S2). Regarding some spoilers for the finale, I wouldn't be surprised if Carlos would bond a little more with Lynette.

I was surprised Tom didn't b*tch more about the fact Carlos saw her naked. It looked like it was just dropped, cut short.

    --Bree--

Awkward storyline, but finally there's coming some progress at the Hogde's. Orson's really becoming the second villain of the season and I really don't see him surviving much more episodes. I found it odd that Bree turned to Andrew for advice regarding divorcing, since she did the same in S1. But I can't wait to see what's going to happen next week.

The intro of the episode was great, but I expected some more Rose.

    --Gaby--

Hilarious to see Gaby and those women planning a coup, although I would have liked to see them do it. The lemon part was very funny and I like to see more of the Gaby/Tom team-up. I'm bothered with the fact John didn't show up, since he's going to this season (or his scenes were cut. I just hope he's not the surprise of the season finale).

    --Susan/Dave--

Save the best for last. Susan really had some great scenes last night and her storylines are finally getting mature. Hilarious how she was trying to prevent Dave from killing himself and the pulling-over incident. When she saw the gun, I thought she was going to freak out, but I'm glad DH can still surprise me.

The confession was predictable, the whole story arc was leading up to that, but the reason why was a nice save. We also saw Dave's comical side a bit and I liked how they made Edie's home look darker, as if Susan was in the devil's lair.

Only thing that bothered me here: how doesn't Mike feel what Dave's going through? Deirdre, anyone? Writers, don't forget the history of the show, especially not where it all started.

I'm glad that Dave's not just going after Susan (and you can really tell things get more interesting for the viewer when the villain is after a housewife, not a husband), but MJ as well. They're taking a risk in targetting the cutest kid on the Lane, I don't think a lot of series have made a kid the victim of revenge yet, but I'm glad they're daring it. It juices up the mystery and brings some extra tension to the final episodes. I can't wait to see how this works out.

All in all, there were a lot of good storylines that were different from the rest of the season. The storylines were connected and really made me think of seasons 1 and 3 again, they had the same vibe. This is one of the few times this year that I can really say I'm looking forward to the next one!

One of the highlights of the season and as much as I liked the character: I didn't miss Edie yet. Well, she didn't have a lot of screen time lately anyway.

Kudos to the writers and the actors and please, keep this up until the finale!

    "Perfect"
Let me just start off by saying that all things considered, I absolutely loved this episode. I loved all of the storylines, especially the Gabrielle, Tom, Carlos and Lynette storyline which was my favorite storyline of the episode. I have to say that I love Gabrielle and Tom's interactions with each other this season now that Tom isn't working and they're now both home during the day. Bree's storyline was definitely my second favorite storyline of the episode. Marcia Cross gave an amazing performance in this episode. I loved the whole reveal about Susan and Mike's car accident. That was really surprising. I really worried about what Dave is going to do now. In closing, I thought that this was a very well written, well acted and well made episode of Desperate Housewives from everyone involved, and I can't wait to see the next episode of Desperate Housewives.
  • Filler episode.

    7.5
    "Good"
There is a reason that on the poll on tv.com's main page asking fans what their favorite ABC show I responded Lost and Desperate Housewives. Occasionally both shows have a filler episode, but even when such is the case you are always guaranteed a few laughs and even a jaw-dropping moment or two.

There is no denying this was a filler episode, but at least we saw three potential big storylines heading into the season finale that ABC promises will be the biggest yet. While I doubt the validity versus hype ratio of that statement it is one of the most anticipated conclusions for me this year as the Dave Williams arc has been nothing short of fantastic. Sure, it is a little similar to Wayne Davis last season, but Neal McDonough is miles better than Gary Cole was.

I just feel like they are running out of ideas for these characters. I mean has Susan done anything noteworthy in months?
  • All round fantastic.

    10
    "Perfect"
First up I just want to mention that this just proves how filler the last episode was. You can basically skip the whole of episode 19 without having missed a thing. In some respects that is a good thing in terms of the flow of the season but episode 19 really is just there to give us that final farewell to Edie.

I like that she isnt forgotten straight away as everyone is still reeling from the tragedy. And I love how seemlessly they found away to make Susan admit she was behind the wheel of the car. What everyone is forgetting though is Lilah's death really was a tagic accident. She missed a stop sign and Susan had right of way. Anyway I wont start debating the mystery here. The funny thing is it explains why Susan and Jackson's convo in episode one cut away to other events otherwise we would have known from the start Susan was behind the wheel of the car. Though this still isnt to much of a shock to everyone.

Overall a fantastic episode. I am loving the Carlos/ Lynette/ Tom/ Gabby plot lines that have been building over the past episodes. I think Marc Cherry realized Gabby needed somewhere to go, someone to relate to and this is a great way to do it. I've always loved seeing Tom and Gabby interact and the same goes for Carlos and Lynette (I still remember Carlos offering Lynette an affair in Season 2) so its nice seeing them interact and seeing storylines come out of it.

Susan was amazing in this episode. I was missing this comedic side of her as it has been lacking lately. Trying to stop Dave from suicide is great. I also think its time Teri got to be the centre again. Bree took over in Seasons 2, 3 and 4 as the one in peril at the end of each mystery and while Bree is my favourite that was Susan's niche in Season 1. I am so scared for MJ but I have seen his potential death coming all season. I first thought he might die in the fire episode but then of course reality set in with the fact they were at a bar. But as soon as Dave's motive came out I always felt MJ would be a playing card. Katherine in danger was not what I saw coming. Personally I always felt for Mike and Susan MJ would have to be the one to go and Marc has been saying he wants one of the women to suffer the loss of a child and Susan in pain is a recurring theme on DH. The return of Jackson next week also brings back Dave's plot to kill the loved one and the child so we're in for a pretty huge season finale in three weeks. Bree's story I'm glad is going where its going. I really want her to divorce Orson. I used to like him but now there is only one way this storyline can go. He is such a pitiful, lowly character now that I cant stand him and I'm sure I'm not alone on that. Still this week I could tolerate him and I love Andrew for telling Bree she had to divorce him cause he clearly didnt deserve her. I found Bree trying to get the truth out of Orson hilarious. I would have liked more stories with her and Katherine this season but she still has her business so bring on Season 6.

Katherine is amazing hands down! I loved Dana in this episode finally geting some decent screen time. They really owed it to her. She was invovled with Susan helping Dave, Rose's story arc, Mike's realisation and even gave Bree the clues to realise Orson was still lying. She really had a hand in all facists of the episode accept Lynette and Gabby (though she still scored screen time with them). Now that Dave's storyline is focussed on Susan and there is no Edie to service I think we will really get a lot more Katherine. In away it feels like when Bree stepped out of Season 3 and Edie got more of a spotlight. Now the same thing will happen with Katherine. I didnt like her secret she kept from Mike but it is clear that will continue to play out over coming episodes. I want to know what went down between her and Adam during the five year jump so I hope that finally gets revealed, if even in dialogue.

I really hope this mystery has at least a few more twists in the road before the season ends. Its been far to predictable and has coasted along to slowly. It feels like Season 2 where a miraculous final twist will be added at the very end. I dont want that. I hope more twists are in store.

Overall another fantastic instalment and I am counting the days till the next episode.

Orson tries to hide the truth behind his wounds. Susan watches after Dave to make sure he doesn't kill himself after Edie's death. Carlos helps Lynette after she passes out in her shower. Gabby tries to get Tom to stay away from a woman in the garden club.

I loved the scene with Gabby, Susan, Katherine, and Lynette in the beginning when they were talking about gardeners and Susan's disgusting casseroles. Bree wants to divorce Orson! Oh wow! This is going to be good. I loved when Susan took the gun, knives, belts, etc. I particularly laughed when she took the belts. Awesome episode, and definitely not losing its touch despite Edie's death.
