  • Gabrielle And Carlos Get A New Assistant, Xiao Mei Who Had Been Held As A Slave. Susan Decides To Get Married For A Medical Insurance. Bree Discovers A Secret.

    8.0
    "Great"
Like the title says, this episode was silly but it was entertaining. I really liked all the storylines in this episode. Bree Van De Kamp certainly has a memorable opening scene in this episode. Tom's and Lynette's storyline at the office has been entertaining but their plot in this episode was a bit silly. The "Xiao Mei" plot was also very interesting. I'd like to see where that story goes. Susan's subplot was pretty stupid but I liked the surprising twist in the end. For me, the highlight of this episode was Bree's story and her scene with Betty. A great episode, but not the best the season could offer.

loved this episode of desperater housewives the lynette storyline ws pretty silly but still funny to watch the gaby stuff was alos abit silly but i still enjoyed it the syuff with susan was pretty rubbish but still entertaining the stuff with bree was by far the best of the week this season really is the season of bree as her storlyines are the one really carrying this season

  • Easily one of the worst DH episodes so far

    2.5
    "Terrible"
It almost seemed as if DH changed writers for this one episode because many of the stories seemed pretty weak. The thing with Tom eating off toilets at work was just plain stupid. Not only a dumb story but totally unrealistic.

Unrealistic aswell was Susan getting married so she would be insured for her operation. Honestly Susan is not the smartest character on Wisteria Lane and this such proves it.

Half way into Season 3 I'm glad to see that the writing has improved from this.

  • the discussion between betty and bree - very open and honest.

i have to say that bree confuses me a lot of the time. she doesn't seem to be a big enough woman to accept her gay son, but she can be so wonderful to a woman she basically just met who has just told her about her murderous son and admitted to an awful case of child abuse.

i hope that the other woman of wisteria lane can trust that she knows what she is doing with betty.

i also hope that the applewhites aren't really leaving the lane. they are really a very interesting family, to say the least!
  • Funnny, clever and filled with twists and turns.

A very unexpected ending to a very good episode, I can't see Carl and Susan being married as a good idea.

What is a wandering spleen anyway? Sounds like an internal organ with a rucksack on its back going for a hike.

Noah really is harsh on Mike, but I suppose I would do the same if I was in his position.
  • Loved the episode but hated the part they talk about Holland!

I loved it when Lynette ate all that raw meat :) that was really funny to watch.

I also loved it how Gabrielle acted against the chinees woman :).

I also liked the part that Bree breaks in the Applewhites house :) and when she talked to Caleb, I thought for a second that he was going to hurt her but he luckely didnt.

I DISLIKED the part that Susan it going to marry and they talk about the Netherlands (where I live) and they only talk about the windmills and tulips and that makes me very mad because we really dont have that many mills!!!! (and tulips) and not everyone aproves the gays can marry!!
  • Gabrielle becomes very attached to a temporary Chinese immigrant housekeeper who is staying with Solis' after being rescued by another slave owner employer. Lastly, Bree tries to uncover more about the Applewhites by sneaking into their house to meet Cale

This episode was soo funny! I laughed my ass of when they found that chinese girl in the kitchen of that women where bree was having lunch. Gabrielle was very amusing to watch aswell, when she wanted to keep her new 'maid' and Carlos didn't agree.

I liked that Lynette stood up for Tom, because he was clearly letting everyone walk over him, though I think the fact that they're now working together is going to give some problems but we'll see.

I liked the Bree-Betty part, it shows that they aren't as bad as we ( I at least) thought. I hope she's telling the truth but I think she does. I also like that brees daughter end Betty's son are dating (can't think fo there names right now). Last; Susan and the gay guys, hilarious!Like that she's getting married to her ex-husband now, but in a while I hope she gets back with Mike again.

By the way that old man is very selfish willing to see his grandchild, he probably knows himself that that isn't a good idea.
  • Unlikely Friendships Written by Tom Spezialy Directed by Robert Duncan McNeill

    7.0
    "Good"

Unlikely friendships are the theme in tonight’s episode where recent unlikely alliances lead to somewhat interesting scenario in one place and more misguided choices in other places.

A textbook example of the latter would be within the Scavo plot where Tom is desperate to get his new boss Ed onside and has to resort to self-humiliation in order to win the respect and the fact they were in rival fraternities adds to it. Currie Graham who plays Ed is a really good actor and the way he handles this role is fine but it feels like I’m watching a spoof of The Office (or the US version of it) and as funny as Ed might like to think he is, David Brent he ain’t.

The pranks between Ed and Tom were at first a bit amusing but the toilet joke took things a little too far, so although it might to others (Ed especially) that Lynette was being a stick in the mud, I don’t blame her for being annoyed that her boss was using her husband as a source of amusement.

I knew when Ed betted Lynette to eat all that raw pork that she was going to win. This is US television and they are certain things that you can accurately predict. Plus it was a housewife that Ed challenged, so it was really obvious that Lynette was going to win.

Normally I would’ve expected Tom to complain about having his wife fight his corner but it was nice that he actually appreciated her efforts and that him and Ed still managed to get on. I understand wanting to be liked by your employer but I wouldn’t go as far as being humiliated by them either to get that kind of respect. Then again this episode is called “Silly People” and it certainly lives up to it.

Especially with the Susan plot which took a nosedive in quality as the operation on her spleen saga took a new twist with her being unable to afford the operation. As a result (and failed attempt of getting money from Karl), Edie suggested that she gets married for health insurance to a gay man named Gary to solve her problem. Now I love seeing gay men on this show (provided Carlos doesn’t beat them up and they don’t try to ruin Bree), but this was a ridiculous plot.

Don’t get me wrong, I liked Gary a lot and wouldn’t mind seeing him again and I even understand why he isn’t eager to come out but even if I was closeted myself, I wouldn’t feel comfortable marrying someone I didn’t love in order to keep family members or anyone else prying into my sexual orientation and even Susan should’ve considered that too (though I loved her pro-gay stance in this episode).

Lucky for us and the credibility of the writers, Gary’s more effeminate boyfriend Steve throws enough of a strop and generally whinges about Gary being so closeted that Susan’s sham wedding doesn’t happen. I should say thank goodness for that if the writer didn’t decide to take another logic bypass and have Susan agree to marry Karl for health insurance without telling Edie. Yeah I can see that working out perfectly and plots goes, this one stinks. Couldn’t Susan have looked into getting a bank loan or borrowing the money from Bree or Gabrielle and even tried to pay the hospital in instalments. They may not make the most interesting of scriptwriting ideas but they are far more believable options than the extreme and stupid measures she’s willing to take here. Even though he remained pretty much non-vocal about things, you could tell that even Mike thought her idea was daft.

Then again, Susan’s health was the least of Mike’s problems as dealing with one of two more serious plots, the annoyingly smug and nasty Detective Sullivan who happily beat him to a pulp in “Live Alone And Like It” returned to Wisteria Lane to quiz him about Noah’s grandchild. I knew Felicia was determined to stir things up, so no guesses that it was her who sent the anominous letter to her new employer about his extended family. After all, neither Paul nor Mike would have any real incentive or obligation to do it.

Felicia’s efforts to stir trouble definitely seem to be paying off. Noah is so transparent that when he threatens Mike, you’re immediately unfazed by it. Mike may have managed to get Noah to be more rational about meeting Zach but you can tell that he’s going to have trouble on his hands, especially if Noah can’t manipulate Mike the way he was able to in Season One.

Speaking of manipulations, Gabrielle is back to her scheming ways as she takes a shine to an illegal slave worker named Xiao-Mei who Carlos takes in as a gesture to Father Crowley. What is it with Gabrielle and her staff? If she isn’t sleeping with them (John), flashing at them (Ralph and Luis) or berating them (Yao Lin), she’s then sympathising with them.

It’s not hard to doubt Carlos’ cynicism at his wife’s motives for wanting the girl to stay in the US, although Gabrielle’s reasons make for some truly delicious dialogue and her tricks to get Xiao-Mei to stay pay off. Here’s hoping though Gabrielle can actually treat one member of her staff with a bit of decency though. She might actually feel bad for the girl’s plight but some genuine proof would be nice too.

With the silly plots out of the way, we move further into the Bree versus Betty saga as denser than thou Danielle is surprised with her mother being furious at her for spilling family secrets out to her enemy. Bree delivers a pretty cruel analysis of her daughter and although it’s a pretty fair one too, at least Danielle suggested that Bree should find out more about Betty.

Which Bree does by breaking into the Applewhites and talking to Caleb. I love when Bree, even if she has an ulterior motive shows her compassionate streak and she really did here with Caleb and even with Betty, when the latter came guns a blazing for a confrontation upon learning that a nice red haired lady talked to her son.

We got a lot on the Applewhite mystery here and it was about time too. We now know (and it makes sense) that Melanie Foster was a girlfriend of Matthew’s who Caleb had fallen in love with. Melanie dismissed Caleb in a vile and heartless manner and although Caleb may not have set out to kill her, I can now see why Betty is scared of him around other women.

As much as I sympathise with the poor lad, I actually did fear for Bree too when she went down the basement with him and he looked at her and commented on her looks. As much as I dislike Danielle, if I were her, I’d watch myself because it does look like that Caleb may have feelings for her too. Betty and Bree do have a lot more in common now than before and it would be nice if their sudden bond was genuine but it’s really hard to tell.

    Also in “Silly People”

Housewife of the week: Maxine Bennett got arrested during one of her dinner parties for slave labour, introducing us to Xiao-Mei. It was funny how she spoken back at the girl in her native tongue, almost to cover her embarrassment.

Susan (to Bree, re Applewhites): “She makes it sound like we’re angry, we’re not angry”

    Edie: “I’m angry”.

I loved the start after the short opening credits with all the unlikely alliances. The sight of Susan and Edie walk harmoniously together was very cute.

Ed: “If you were my pledge, I’d make you my bitch”

    Tom: “Oh, you think so?”

Carlos: “You’re the kind of person who would’ve turned away Mary and Joseph at the inn”

    Gabrielle: “They should’ve called ahead”.

By the way Bree was talking about her step-mother, there seems to be a good relationship between them. That would be interesting to see.

Gary: “So you want to get married on Wednesday? Because Thursday and Friday I’m out of town”

Susan: “Oh yeah, sure. That’s … Wednesday’s great”.

I liked the casting of Carlos Jacott as Gary. He’s mostly a genre actor. I’ve seen him in Buffy, Angel, Firefly and She Spies. And didn’t the actress who played Maxine play a lawyer on The L Word last year?

Gabrielle (to Carlos): “This is about our great nation and I have no intention of sexually satisfying a man who isn’t willing to stand up and help spread the ideas and values of the United States of America”.

Karl: “Will you marry me again?”

    Susan: “What the hell”.

No Andrew, Julie, Paul, Zach or the Scavo kids this week.

    Lynette: “No more games”

Ed: “Sure, you sucked all the fun out of it anyway”.

Bree: “Caleb and I had a lovely chat”

Betty: “If you ever come near him again, there will be hell to pay”.

Standout music: “What’s Love Got To Do It” by Tina Turner. I’m being sarcastic but it’s the only noticeable they play on this show.

Well if ever there was an episode that lived up to it’s title, then it would be this one. “Silly People” isn’t as bad as I thought it would’ve been but Susan and Lynette’s plot are a grind to watch. As per usual in disappointing, thank goodness for Bree and thank goodness the Applewhite mystery is finally going somewhere.

  • Desperate Housewives returns with fresh new episodes... but are they up to par with the rest? Yes and no. But mostly no.

    8.7
    "Great"
"There's Something About A War" premeired about a month ago, and it was by far one of the best episodes for season two. They finally incorperated the mysterious Betty Applewhite into the story, and now we know some of their story. "Silly People" sadly was somewhat of a let down. The beganning of the episode was just awful. Not only was it boring, and somewhat insulting, but it was totally unbelievable. It was one of those stories that you would never even dream about happenning, expecially on a well respected TV show. A housewife had a slave. I can somewhat see where they went with it, but the way it was planned out... That was just lame. The story continues to unfold, and we now know, or atleast we think we do (she could be lying) why Caleb was locked in the basement. However, something doesn't seem quite right... so ok Caleb attacked Melanie Foster because he was in love with her, but she rejected him. That's part of the mystery, but it doesn't really explain why they locked him in a basement. So, even if that's completely true, where is Betty's husband? And what did she do that was so "gothic" and "creepy"? Did she abandon him? We're pretty sure he's not dead, because when Matthew told Bree and Danielle that his father was dead, Betty confronted him later by saying that was "morbid" explanation.

The story has yet to be better, and Marc did say that Betty's story was something that many women can relate to. Hopefully that's true, because I don't think that many women have locked their kid in a basement because he suppositly killed some girl.

The pluses of this episode was Susan's scene. I loved the whole idea of her getting married with that guy, and it would be just her luck if it didn't happen. I'm not sure how I feel about Karl proposing, but I'll see where it goes. I can't judge it just yet.

The cons we're defenitly Lynette's story. I like Lynnette, or atleast, I did, but in this season, she's been somewhat annoying. The whole bacon thing made no sense whatsoever, and I'm almost positive that you would get ill from that.

Gabrielle's story was ok... she has a new maid, and I hope that she has a story to bring with her. I think that I heard somewhere that their maid would bring the Season Three mystery with her and that she has a really "sad and disturbing" past.

Bree's storyline was defenitly a plus as well. I liked the dialouge between her and Caleb. I hope that soon she will actually mourn Rex's death, even though that was 15 episodes ago. If she read George's diary, I'm pretty sure she would find out that he was to blame for much of her marital problems, inculding the sexual humiliation.

If Season two continues at this pace, I'm pretty sure it will loose plenty more veiwers. However, I am staying a faithful veiwer, and I hope that Season Two will refrain from these "silly" story lines such as having a slave prepare lunchins for you.
  • At last we will see more tension in Susans life, Gaby has a new family slave and Bree's nose gets into the whole truth of the Applewhite family , this is 100% fun!

    10
    "Perfect"
It was an episode full of great entertainment with new thing to know and events that will be very interesting to look in the future, like Karl marrying again with Susan and the reaction that Edie will have when she finds out. Gabrielle's new (ironic) chinese slave and the mystery that many of us are woondering which is, maybe she hides something to be unfold in the future, maybe 3rd Season. Lynette had for the first time a weak story but though it was fun to watch. Bree now knows the whole truth (or maybe not) about Caleb and she can't tell anything because she is in danger of being turned in. So this leaves more tension to the show. Definetly a must see episode (like the whole season) :P
  • "I'm Desperate Here!" Written by Tom Spezialy Directed by Robert Duncan McNeill

    9.0
    "Superb"
"Take good care of your looks, Danielle. You don't have any other weapons at your disposal."--Bree

This episode was pretty good for the most part, it was well written, had the feel of a Season 1 episode but was also very different. The theme of this episode seems to be the theme of friendships and people being downright silly in order to get things done.

I think each of the housewives can relate to this: Susan is using silly tactics in order to get health benefits; Tom is being silly when he has to do dreadful dares in order to get the boss to listen which hurts Lynette. Gabrielle thinks her new friend, Xiao-Mei is being silly for not staying in the United States and Bree thinks Betty's excuses are very silly.

I can sum up the Gabrielle plot in a few sentences. It wasn't as rich as her storyline usually is. This week's was definitely a filler plot line. Gabrielle needed something and while the plot is good, it is still not something that could be considered major. After a rich woman is caught owning a slave, the church asks Gabrielle & Carlos to look after her. Gabrielle thinks that Carlos is being unreasonable but as she grows to like Xiao-Mei she wants her for herself since she is excellent at what she does. When Xiao-Mei leaves she suddenly has a change of heart and wants to stay with the Solises. Gabrielle happily lets her stay.

On the Scavo front, Tom has to fight to his way to become a good worker at the firm or he will get the boot. He starts to bond with Ed the boss by doing a bunch of disgusting dares which include catching skittles in his mouth and eating a toilet dunked donut. Lynette tries to stop the silliness by doing something silly herself. Lynette manages to stop the craziness by eating a package of bacon piece by piece. Ewww! She later sees Tom and Ed bonding but civilized. Oh, Lynette...

Susan needs health coverage and needs it fast. Edie comes up with the perfect, but illegal solution to get quick insurance: find someone to marry her. Edie finds her the perfect man: a rich, gay man who would love to marry her to get his mom to finally keel over since she is only holding on for her son to get married. The two agree to marry but their plans are destroyed when his life partner is angered on why he'll marry a complete stranger but won't commit to a relationship with him. Steve (his partner) leaves the chapel and Gary runs out after him leaving Susan at the altar with Tina Turner playing in the background.

Finally, Bree manages to get more dirt on the Applewhites when she personally talks to Caleb after Betty and Matthew leave. Caleb tells her how he was locked up in the basement all those months and how he murdered a girl named Melanie Foster. Later, Betty visits Bree and confesses to everything and they must keep it quiet. The juicy secret is that Melaine dated Matthew and Caleb wanted Melanie for himself. Melanie laughed and Caleb kissed her which ensued with a slap. One thing leads to another and Caleb slices Melanie with an axe. Betty feels responsible for what happened and had to do something. Bree can relate to this and puts her hand out. This can only mean that Bree is not going to say anything and the two have formed an alliance.

Other important events in "Silly People"...

*Plot of the week: goes to Bree for finding out more information on the Applewhites. Was Betty really telling the truth...it was pretty convincing but then again so was her Virgil Applewhite story.

*Gabrielle's storyline was more funny than dramatic. I loved the whole line about how Gabby wouldn't even let Mary and Joseph into the inn.

*Susan, Susan, Susan... she was wise not to trust Lonny because now he has totally screwed her. Lonny's in jail and Susan don't have a health plan, now she must turn to "desperate" measures to get good benefits before she dies. The solution next time is to get a better job!

*The word "desperate" was said over 4 times in this episode. That is a pretty good record since it was said a lot in the earlier episodes but has been lacking in the Season 2 episodes. You can tell that it was written by an Old school DH writer.

*Loved the teaser featuring Maxine Bennet played by Jane Lynch of the 40 Year Old Virgin, Bree knew her secrets and it was definitely fun to watch as Maxine was hauled away.

"Silly People" was a well written and directed episode. Though not as good as the previous episode still made up for the humorous plots and interesting revelation at the end. Good work!

  • Silly People, Silly plotlines

    7.5
    "Good"
First of all, this episode is worth watching for the scene at the beginning between Susan & Edie and Bree. That was just funny.

Actually all of Susan's scenes in this ep were great, and up to par.

Gaby was cute and fiery and self-centered as always (That's why we love her, right?!!)

Bree and Betty at the end was very great.

    What didn't I like?

Lynette eating raw pork! There's a stupid idea to begin with, but actually watching a character I like do that was painful, and pretty much gross.

And over something stupid, it hardly seemed worth it.

So, (since the show has pretty much become 4 separate shows anyway, each chronicling a different woman) this ep was fun as "Susan Saves her Spleen!", and it was fun as "Gabrielle: A New Maid", and it was touching as "Bree & Betty Bond".
  • Does anybody else feel that the portrayal of Chinese characters in this series is racist?

    5.0
    "Mediocre"
I feel like the writers wrote in a couple maids and slaves into the story, and God forbid they make them white, so they thought about casting someone black, but that would piss people off, and so would casting a latina, so they figured an Asian woman would be easy.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with casting Asian people as maids and slaves on tv shows, especially since it's true that there are a good number of undocumented Asiam maids in the US, but it becomes a problem when that's the only representation we get, and when their characters aren't even developed that much.
  • Gaby has a slave, Gaby has a slave!!!

    10
    "Perfect"
Gaby got herself a servant! lol. She is the greatest.

Obviously, Caleb is gonna go after Bree's daughter (can't remember her name). Pretty damn scary. But good for her; she's too damn loose. Who told her to tell her family's secrets just to get some guy to like her or trust her. Whatever.

But my all in all favorite part of this episode though was Betty and Bree bonding. It was very realistic.
  • Greedy Gaby comes closer to owning her own slave, at last.

    8.5
    "Great"
The greedy and amoral Gabrielle comes a step closer to owning another human being as her personal slave in this episode. It seems ironic that she condemned Carlos for using slave labor to get rich, while she feels no guilt for using the new Chinese "maid" as her personal slave. It will be interesting to see how Gaby pursues her selfish goals now that she has the servitude of an illegal immigrant whose devotion can be purchased for the price of a few trinkets.
  • turning around

    9.0
    "Superb"
I think the show may be turning around a bit. Glad to see Harriett Tillman back. Also glad to see Bree not taking crap and protecting herself from her children and the neighbors. Loved that that neighbor had a slave that made all the food. Hated the whole Lynnette/Tom office thing.
  • Desperate Housewives Fast Losing Its Edge

    5.9
    "Mediocre"
I keep getting the feeling that the producers of Desperate Housewives think they'll continue to be successful no matter what.

With each implausible story line, the show edges more into a comic abyss at the expense of the dramatic edge it once had in the mix.

Watching Tom Scavo (Doug Savant) eating doughnuts out of toilets and Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman) eat a pound of bacon is hardly my idea of entertainment, or even anything plausible that would ever happen at an advertising agency. Now, if Lynette were to develop a thing for the new boss...

The most interesting thing about the episode was Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher) hooking up with ex-husband Karl. The chemistry between the two when they realized at the same time that telling their biological daughter would be a mistake was a good moment.

As it stands now, I feel as though the show continues to perform only because of the breakaway celebrity of the five female stars, particularly Hatcher, Eva Longoria and Huffman. In terms of story and execution, the show just isn't serving its audience well any longer. And, the viewing public is catching up. This was predicted by critics last year, and is just coming to pass a little later than expected.
  • I loved the theme of this week's episodes: strange friendships between unlikely people!!

    9.0
    "Superb"
This episode was an ok one, but I think the whole notion of Susan getting married just to have health insurance is ridiculous!! Couldn't she just consult an insurance guy about her lack of insurance? But I think Caleb's story was really sad, but he did kind of creep me out when he was telling Bree that the girl he killed was pretty like her. I think it's good that Bree and Betty finally have established something of a friendship. Tom's strange relationship with Ed really freaked Lynette out, and she had to eat a pound of bacon to make Ed stop daring Tom to do really stupid things!! When I was watching, I felt like heaving-a whole pound of RAW BACON!!! Gabby's relationship with the Chinese maid was hilarious-you can tell how desperate she is to have some companionship. Overall, this episode was sort of "silly" but still loveable!!
  • Tom tries hard to bond with his new boss, Karl makes Susan an offer she cannot refuse, Bree does some sneaky sleuthing at Betty's house, and Gabrielle sets her house in order.

    8.5
    "Great"
I can't call this episode a great episode, but yeah it was decent. Finally the mystery surrounding Caleb was revealed. As it turns out he isn't a bad guy at all. Though will have to wait and watch, what happens with happens with Danielle beacuse Caleb wasn't looking with pretty eyes towards her!! I developed a soft corner towards the Applewhites and Betty in particular. 1 thing i can't understand about the Solis family is that from where does Gabrielle get all the funds for all the expensive shopping she does. They msut tell something about that.
  • That was just boring! Or like the name: Silly.

    5.8
    "Mediocre"
This episode of Desperate Housewives was absolutely boring!

I mean, sure we learn more about Caleb, but that’s it then. Bree investigates the secret on her own. It just was a bit too weird seeing her in all those “investigations”.

The whole slave story was nice, but although I thought that it might be a bit too fast going on. But finally the Solis’ got a new employee.

But what’s about Susan? I somehow can’t understand it, why she suddenly is dieing? Sure it’s some nice unexpected story twist, but I didn’t like it. But then all the ideas about with marrying someone, only to get a health insurance. That was just stupid and boring. Why bring in the gay guy? I think of it as absolutely unnecessary.

The only thing I kind of enjoyed here was Lynette and Tom doing business.
  • Silly is an understatement.

    8.2
    "Great"
I had to make sure I was watching Desperate Housewives and not a celebrity episode of Fear Factor when Lynette is eating raw bacon to prove a point. I mean that was simply nasty, and so unrealistic.

Susan getting married to a gay guy just so she can have insurance. Well let's just say I'm so happy that did not happen, but it got a rise out of Mike. If anyone is stupid it's Gabrielle. She is making that chinese woman work, and making it seem like her life will be so wonderful. Shame on you Gabby, shame, shame, shame.

Caleb is going to do something. I don't know what, but something is either going to happen to Bree, or her daughter. You can just tell by the look in his eye.
  • Silly people, silly episode.

This episode tried to be funny, but just like a hard night for a stand-up, the jokes fell flat. Not only that, every plot point was just silly. I always think that Lynette's storylines are boring, and this was another example of no plot extension between the couple Tom and Lynette, just mainly silly tom foolery at the workplace. This storyline was an example of the series going nowhere.

I for one hope that housewives can get back to its cunning and clever best, before I move out of Wisteria Lane.
  • We find out all of Caleb's story- and it almost made me cry! Yeah, sure... some things that we a bit "silly: the odd dares going on at Lynette and Tom's office, the poor Chinese slave story, and Susan getting married. But I enjoyed this!

We find out all of Caleb's story- and it almost made me cry! Yeah, sure... perhaps the odd dares going on at Lynette and Tom's office were a bit "silly", and the poor Chinese slave story a bit ridiculous, and perhaps the entire idea of Susan getting married for insurance was only intended to be comedic... but I really enjoyed this episode!

On this fresh Desperate Housewives, Bree continues to keep Betty Applewhite's secret from her friends thanks to Daniel giving away Andrew's. However, she uses the key she had from the previous owners of the house to break in while they're gone, leading to a confrontation between her and Caleb. She finds out about the girl he killed and how he's been locked up and kept a secret ever since. When she confronts Betty about it, she finally reveals the secret, emotionally opening up to her with her story. Apparently Caleb had a thing for this girl, who happened to be his brother's girlfriend and one night told her that he loved her. When she laughed in his face he became enraged and ... well ... the rest is history.

Also, Tom tries to "buddy up" with the boss after he continues to turn down his advertising ideas. When he goes as far as to eat a donut dunked in toilet water, Lynette steps in. In order to stop the games, she plays her bosses' game. She eats an entire pound of raw pork bacon ... getting him to stop the bets on Tom's behalf.

Carlos agrees to take in an ex-slave Chinese girl named Xiao Mei who is set to return to her country. When Gabrielle realizes that she can cook and clean like it's nobody's business, she tries to convince Carlos to keep her as a maid. On the day that Xiao Mei is supposed to leave, she screams in Chinese that she doesn't want to, that she sees Gabrielle as family now, and of course, Gabby eagerly allows her to stay with them.

And Susan needs coverage for her wandering spleen surgery, so she goes to Edie for help; she hooks her up with a gay guy who needs to get married to a fake bride so that his mother will be satisfied. At the wedding chapel, Susan meets his gay life partner, who is pissed off that he'll marry her but refuse his marriage requests. After he storms out, the groom goes after him and leaves Susan alone in the chapel. Her ex-husband finds her sulking and offers to marry her, figuring he owes her one for how he left her. Of course, they decide to keep it a secret from Edie.

And Noah finds out from an anonymous source that he has a grandchild (Zach). He sends out his man Sullivan to confront Delfino, who then agrees to see him. Delfino tells him about Zach, and Noah is willing to give him two days to bring him there ... before he has Sullivan take him. Little do they realize that Ms. Tilman is spying on them and listening to every word they're saying.
  • It pretty much lives up to its title.

    "Good"
Well, a little more light-hearted for the most part, particulary the Susan bit which was incredibly overdone in the silly department. However, am intrigued by the idea of Susan and Karl marrying again and the inevitable blowup by Edie when she finds out.

The Lynette one was crazy too but nice of her to stand up for her hubby and take all those treats so well. Still, hope Felicty gets better stories soon.

The Bree/Betty showdown was nicely done as we finally get the scoop on exactly what Caleb did and it's interesting just how similar Betty and Bree's situations are, which can be quite fun to witness in the future.

The Gabby plot was a bit goofy at first but I suspect having that maid will cause her some problems down the line.

And we get more drama with Mike's boss finding out about Zach and we all know this cannot possibly turn out well. So, while showing why this show is always classified under "comedy" at award time, it was still a nice ep that advanced a few plots.
