Strangely enough, I was annoyed and ranting for about 3/4 of the episode, but the end TOTALLY makes up for it (loooads of spoilers in the review)

"Superb"
I kid you not, for about half an hour, I was just completely exasperated by the tacky plotlines and complete incoherencies in the storyline. And by the MAVO, which was, strangely enough… perky, when the episode starts. How strange coming from her.
So, what annoyed me here? Let’s see… Mike and Susan and Edie and Ian. So Edie dumps Mike? We’ve hardly actually seen much of the Mike-Edie relationship, so I didn’t really feel anything when that scene came up. I just pray to God that they won’t keep up with the Mike heart Susan plotline. Just get it over with, kill off Mike or something. Please. Though I was quite impressed to see he had an expression on his face this episode. Mike. Wow. I guess he’s recovering from his coma. But about the whole “I killed Monique” thing… Ugh. He was in a COMA for six months. And before that he was WAY too busy with the Paul/Zach/Deirdre storyline to kill off french airline stewardesses with tacky names(anybody ever wonder what happened to the whole Young Family plotline? Shouldn’t Susan, I dunno, TELL Mike that he has a SON, someday?). So, Mike is one of the most annoying things of Season 3 for me: the way Susan gave up so quickly on him and never even felt worthwhile to help him catch up with all he did during those two years (except reminding him that they... danced... at a fish restaurant, a few episodes back). And where’s his dog gone to? But back to their plotline. That whole “Did you ever kill someone, Mike?” “No”. Um. And the cop? He’s supposed to remember that, it’s been more than two years, hasn’t it? Or has his whole memory gone fuzzy?
Only funny thing coming from that quarto was the “I can’t cook” coming-out. Poor Susan. Poor Ian. Gabrielle was quite annoying and despicable, but, it’s Gabrielle, it’s what she does. Her new lust interest is definitely cute (I’m guessing the mother was quite ugly considering how the daughter turned out. Then again, Karl + Susan = Julie, who’s cute-ish but not really a raving beauty, so, whatever. TV genetics are weird). I’m guessing that romance won’t last long, what with this being Desperate Housewives, the actor being way cute and the fact that Carlos now lives next door, but that’s what I thought of Ian, sooo, wait and see, I guess.
Lynette was her typical Lynette “make things bad and then really regret it but it’s too late and anyway I got what I wanted so it’s ok”. Except that this time there’s a very very dark twist at the end. But I’ll get back to that later. I think this plotline really brings out Lynette’s contradictions in a great way. And, Felicity Huffmann’s a greeeat actress, really. Buut. Where’s Keyla? I do hope she hasn’t been written out of the show, that would be so stupid after “Bang”. I mean, if they were planning on writing her out, why have Nora’s “Take extra good care of her” speech? Couldn’t they have given her a “I want her to be raised by her grandma and not you, you spiteful temperamental child briber” line instead? But I digress...
Bree. Not much to say about Bree, she wasn’t really center focus in this episode. I was glad to see the return of the poker table (sans Edie, it has to be said), though it seemed pretty short lived. Only on Wisteria Lane can housewives argue on whose boyfriend/husband is a murderer. And of course Susan had to sneak back in to steal the keys to Orson’s office. And of course she had to be there when Orson was there too. And of course, Orson eats pizza from the box. Neurotically clean Orson. And doesn’t use coasters. Psychotically clean Orson. Character continuity issues anyone? And of course, he keeps secret files in his dental practice. I mean, who doesn’t keep their dirty little secrets in their offices? Considering we’re in a world where paedophiles keep their door wide open and have a toy railroad that leads from the hall directly to the basement’s kiddie photos. You know, just in case you’d want to snoop in the wrong rooms in the house. I’m just surprised Susan didn’t humiliate herself/fall down/trip on something this episode. Wow.
Ok, now the REALLY good things about this episode. Orson’s coming clean. Well, not really. But still, now you know he’s not to be trusted, of course, but also that he\\\'s had issues, and that Alma isn\\\'t necessarily a victim. And that he’s not quite as dark as we were made to think (except for the whole hit & run that turned Mike into a walking brick, of course)… The angry Wisteria villager (isn\\\'t that country club \\\"Trish\\\" leading the mob? Shouldn\\\'t she be mourning Carolyn or something instead?), the sister’s death… Very powerful stuff. Angry mobs scare me, really. Great scene. Not as great as the last four minutes of this episode, though. Wow. Wow. Wow. Turns out Art IS a monster, and Lynette unleashed him after all. How’s she gonna sleep with that at night? About as well as having Nora’s death sort of on her conscience. Oh, and talking about that, poor Carolyn Bigsby was COMPLETELY wrong: Orson\\\'s wife ain\\\'t quite dead...Wow wow wow! Alma’s baaack. And Gloria knows! Who wants to bet they killed Monique together? Does that mean Bree\\\'s in danger, now? Again? Can’t wait for January!
