Mary Alice says: "Five years ago, Susan Delfino gave birth to a son in delivery room A of Fairview Memorial Hospital. Moments later, Lila Dash gave birth to a daughter in delivery room B. Around 10 the next morning, as the two new mothers were leaving the hospital, they nearly ran into each other. Of course, they never knew this. In fact, Susan and Lila would have been surprised to know how often their paths would cross over the years. They almost met at the local coffee shop; and another time at their veterinarian's office; and again in the bleachers of the Fairview Flyers. But despite these close calls, Susan and Lila never met. Until one Tuesday when Susan decided to take her husband to a fancy restaurant for their anniversary. At the same time, Lila decided to take her daughter to buy some ice cream. That was the night that Susan Delfino and Lila Dash finally ran into each other."
Susan is driving at night and Lila is driving into the same road as she. She doesn't notice that the stop sign was taken down and she is surprised when she sees Susan's car coming in her direction, so she brakes and a car accident occurs, when Susan's car is projected into the air after hitting Lila's car. Moments later, Lila is sitting in her car, with her eyes open and a bleeding head leaning into the steering wheel. She is dead. Susan comes out of her car, which has been turned upside down, and she notices that Mike is lying on the road, bleeding, and not moving. She screams his name.
"It will happen to all of us eventually." (Mrs. McCluskey is dusting, and she grabs a framed picture of her when younger) "The moment will come when we asks ourselves: where did the time go?" (In a flashbanck, Lynette, bald from cancer, grabs her car keys as the ten-year-old twins run down the stairs in their hockey outfits; they leave the house) "How did the children I once cradled..." (Outside the house, in the present, 16-year-old Porter and Preston run out, and Lynette goes after them to give them the car keys) "...grow up so very quickly?" (Bree, in a flashback, picks up a pie she made, with a big smile in her face) "How did the life I dreamt of..." (In the present, Bree enters her test kitchen, where her catering staff is) "...turn into a career I never expected?" (In a flashback, Gabrielle, looking glamorous, is walking in the street and she enters a boutique) "And how did that woman I saw each day in the mirror..." (In the present, Gabrielle enters the boutique with her two daughters, Juanita and Celia) "...become someone I don't even recognize?"
In the store's dressing room, Juanita is trying on a princess costume. Gabrielle is trying to make her fit, but she is too big for it. Celia is playing with her doll in front of the mirror. The saleswoman peeks her head in and asks if the dress fits, but Gaby tells her they're gonna need the next up. The clerk signals her to come outside, and Gaby does. She then tells her they don't make princess dresses for girls over seven. The clerk is shocked to know that Juanita is only four and a half years old. Gaby says they need a dress because Juanita was invited to a princess party. The woman tells her they may have a Mrs. Shrek costume that would fit her, and Gaby doesn't like this. The clerk tells her she sympathizes with Gaby because her niece also has a weight problem. Gabrielle tells the woman her daughter doesn't have a weight problem, but then they hear the sound of the princess dress Juanita's trying on ripping. Gaby tells the woman to ring it up. At the princess party, Gabrielle spots Juanita eating a huge piece of cake, and is shocked to learn it is her second piece already. She then overhears twom women talking to each other, saying that it is Gabrielle's fault for letting Juanita eat whatever she wants. When it's time to go home, Gabrielle wants to take Juanita out to the park to perform some exercises, but Juanita refuses to, and Gabrielle tricks her daughter by getting into the car and driving away from her, having Juanita chasing her. After a while, Juanita says she's too tired, and gives up. Gaby tries to convince her to keep it up, but Juanita outsmarts her mother by taking the city bus. Later, Carlos is infuriated at Gabrielle for tricking their daughter into losing weight. Gabrielle claims she's past baby fat and they need to do something, because women only have a short amount of time to look beautiful and glamorous. She then tells her husband sometimes he's glad he can't see her and what she's become. But Carlos assures her that she'll always be beautiful to him, and that he sees her beauty every time he kisses her.
Bree is shooting for the cover of her cookbook, which will be titled "Mrs. Van De Kamp's Old Fashioned Cooking", and the photographer is giving her a hard time. Katherine meets with Bree because she needs the key for the money box to pay the staff. Katherine is mad at Bree for hogging all the credits for their business. Bree gives Katherine a draft for the cookbook, and tells her to read page two. Katherine sees her name in the dedications page, and is happier now. Bree tells her it was the least she could do, and they hug. Later, Katherine confronts Bree after reading the cookbook, saying that some recipes were developed by both of them and some were only Katherine's, like the bush cake with sugar net coating. Katherine tells Bree the dedication was really the least she could do. When reporter Hank Stratton and his crew from the show "What's Cooking Fairview?" stop by to interview Bree and her staff, Katherine pretends to have strained her wrist in order to have Bree put the sugar net coating on their famous bush cake. Bree is nervous, and she fails miserably to put the coating on the cake, asking the cameraman to turn off the damn camera. Later that night, at home, Bree is practising putting the sugar net coating in the bush cake, because the reporter told her they could try the interview at a later time, and when she opens up the drawer, she notices a baby bottle. A flashback is seen in which Danielle takes Benjamin away from Bree, and mentions she is married to a lawyer named Leo. Back to the present, Orson enters the kitchen and tells her to come to bed. Bree says she wants the show to run perfectly this time, and Orson says that he won't tell her how to perform her job, since it is her baby. Bree, with a sad look in her eyes, states that it is indeed her baby.
Lynette comes to the Scavo Pizzeria and is horrified to learn that her twins have been running an illegal casino within the restaurant. She grounds them for two weeks, and they are worried because Homecoming is approaching. Later, Lynette tells Tom to handle their kids. She catches him talking to the twins and is shocked to see that he finds everything they do really cool. She thinks that he, as a former high school nerd, is living his cool fantasies through his kids. Tom and Lynette talk to the twins after Tom ungrounded them, and Lynette says they can go to the Homecoming dance after all, and they are taking Tom's car. The night of Homecoming, the twins are late, and Tom and Lynette talk about them. Lynette says they still don't get that the things they do are bad, and that Tom needs to step it up. When they finally arrive, Tom yells at them, telling them they're grounded for a month for not even calling their parents. The twins state he was only concerned about his car, but Tom proves them wrong by kicking off the rearview mirror. The twins are shocked by this, and so is Lynette. Preston and Porter enter the house, and Lynette thanks Tom for taking the upper hand, finally. She tells him he didn't need to do what he did, but he replies by saying the mirror was scratched and he had already ordered a new one.
Susan is having sex with Jackson Hart, the man she hired to paint her house, and he wants more out of the relationship than she does. No one knows that Susan is sleeping with her painter, and they've been doing that for four months. She insists she's not ready for a relationship, and one time, when they are about to have sex, Lynette shows up to complain about Tom and the twins to her friend. Jackson has to sneak out the window, and Lee McDermott takes a picture of him with his cell phone cam. At the welcome party held at the Scavo Pizzeria, Jackson wants to talk to Susan, but she doesn't want anyone seeing the two of them together. Jackson sings at the karaoke, and Susan turns off the lights in the restaurant in order to sneak out the back with him. She tells Jackson why she isn't ready to be in a relationship. He tells her that he can wait. Later, at home, we see a flashback of Susan and Mike having a fight about the car accident, revealing that Mike did survive, but Susan is horrified by the fact that they killed Lila and her daughter. Mike says he can't hear her anymore and storms out. In the present, Susan waves at Mike, who is standing outside her house and then comes in to take Maynard, who is now known as MJ, with him. He asks Susan what she will be doing in the weekend, and she finally tells him she's seeing someone.
Dave Williams, a motivational speaker, knocks on the door of the house where Edie Britt used to live. A man named Raymond is living there, and Dave offers him some money. He wants to buy him out of his lease, and practically forces him to leave his house. Dave tells his wife, who was waiting in the car, that everything is prepared, and the car's window rolls down to reveal Edie.
"The next morning, Edie Britt decided to announce her return to Wisteria Lane in a way that was guaranteed to make a big splash." Edie starts washing her car in a leopard skin bikini, and as Lynette takes out her garbage, she notices her, and calls her friends. Moments later, Susan, Lynette, Bree and Gabrielle all gather to meet Edie. Edie tells them she's back, and she's got a new husband now. Inside the house, she offers them some orange juice, and introduces Dave. The women welcome them. Edie asks Gabrielle what the hell happened to her looks, and the women notice how Dave manipulates Edie into being nicer to others. She then runs off to the kitchen to get the girls some muffins, and Lynette tells Dave they love him. He smiles. At the reception party, Edie thinks the ladies were trying to apologize to her, but they tell her they are trying to forgive what she did, not apologize. Edie is furious at them, stating it took five years to let go of the hate she felt for being frozen out and for having to move away. Dave talks privately with her, and tells her they need those people to be their friends, for it will make everything much easier.
"It goes by so quickly." (Susan takes a framed picture of her, Mike and MJ) "In a flash, the life we knew is gone forever. And we're left to ask ourselves: how could he have left me?" (Gabrielle is vacuuming and she takes a look at her reflection in the mirror) "When did my beauty start to fade?" (Katherine stares angrily at Bree, maddened by the fact that she herself is being undershadowed by her) "Why has my friend changed?" (Lynette looks at the twins as they perform yard work) "Was I the best mother I could have been?" (Edie is sleeping in her bed and Dave is just staring at the ceiling) "Of course, there are some people that understand how quickly time passes." (The phone rings, and Dave picks it up) "That's why they're so determined to get what they want before it's too late." Dave talks to Dr. Heller, who is concerned because he was supposed to check in once a month, as a condition of his release. Dave tells him the meds have been working so well he kind of forgot. The doctor tells him it's not optional. Dave says he understands, and he'll talk to him tomorrow. Dr. Heller hangs up and turns on the TV in his desk to see a video interrogation of Dave. It appears he was admitted into a mental facility because he has a lot of rage. The charges against him were dropped because he agreed to be at the care of a doctor. Dr. Heller isn't going to let him be released without knowing that he isn't a threat to himself or to others. Dave states that he was never a threat to himself, and when it comes to others, only one of them should be afraid. He then stares at Wisteria Lane after picking up the morning newspaper. Who is he after?
