Dexter picks up the paint can with no gloves and grips it with his hand around the middle of the can. He then manages to get fingerprints off of the paint can later in the episode.
At the crime scene, when Lundy talks to Debra, a reflection of the cameraman can be seen in his sunglasses.
As Vince throws out the first dummy we see a top down shot as it falls that clearly shows it will land a long long way away from the first dummy. Moments later we see another top down shot after it has landed where the second dummy is about a body width apart from the first dummy. Shortly after as Lundy talks to Dexter who is crouched down next beside the two dummies, we see they are now placed right next to each other.
Dexter: (voice over) It's not the neighborhood vandal I'm worried about, it's the neighborhood watch.
Rita: You ready to go?
Rita: (holds a CD) I got the best of Bananarama.
Dexter: (voice over) It's a cruel summer.
Dexter: Stop everything you've been doing. If you so much as touch another window I will come back here and I will leave with your head in a bag... I already have the bag.
Dexter: This neighborhood's gonna kill me.

"Cruel Summer" was a top ten hit in the UK in 1983 by the pop group Bananarama. It then became a top ten hit in the US in 1984, after it was featured in the movie The Karate Kid.
