The monster that Dexter fought at the end was the same one from last season's "Dee Deemensional." Either the monster got weaker or Dexter got stronger since then, because in this episode, it's no match for Dexter, but back in "Dee Deemensional," Dexter couldn't even budge it.
How could a baseball and football be a little smaller than usual?
(Dee Dee pulls the football away from a running Dexter ala the Peanuts cartoons) Dee Dee: I always wanted to do that!
Dexter: Numbers do not lie, Father. Dad: I'll tell you something numbers can't do! Build character.
Dad: Geez laweez, Dexter, you throw like a girl! Dexter: Is that good?
Dad: (mumbles; takes candy out of his mouth) Mmm, taffy.
The monster Dexter battles at the end is the same one in "Dee Deemensional."
The way Dee Dee dunks the basketball (legs apart and tongue sticking out) is reminiscent of former NBA superstar, Michael Jordan.
Dexter & Dee Dee: Charlie Brown The scene where Dee Dee takes away the football and Dexter goes up flying is a reference to Charlie Brown cartoons. Dee Dee is also shown lying on the top of Snoopy's doghouse the way Snoopy would, and Dexter's Dad talks like the "adults" do in the Peanuts cartoons (the "wah-wah-wah-wah" voice) when he tries to talk with taffy in his mouth.
