When Greg needs an upgraded security clearance to work on a top-secret case, Dharma and the families are subjected to a background check, which reveals some very interesting information about Larry and Edward. Dharma discovers to her horror that her proud anti-establishment rebel father in not in fact wanted by the FBI as he's always bragged, and embroils Greg and Pete in a scheme to plant a phony file for Larry to steal. Meanwhile, Greg is shaken to discover that Edward never in fact divorced his first wife; and Kitty's reaction to the news is not what anyone would expect.moreless
  • We realize it is important to Larry that he acts against the government. Very funny.

Great writing, great acting, great episode.

Larry is my favorite character on this show. And, since this episode is focused mainly on him, I love it. Through the whole series Larry has been talking about the government watching them and tracking people, and we finally see that he doesn't just talk about it, he tries to take action. But I also love that it was unsuccessful and he didn't even know it. That just makes it funnier. The loving reaction of the family is also great and it makes you smile.

I also love that back when this was filmed, something like this could happen. Of course guards wouldn't let you break into the building now-a-days, but it was so funny in this episode. And you can also learn a lot if your goal is to be a criminal- "They always leave one door open. It's a trap."

MY personal favorite episode of season one. Just excellent.moreless

    • Pete: (talking about meeting a girl at a bar) I'm not gettin' anywhere with her until I whip out my brand-new security clearance card. Next thing you know, she's all over me like a Russian spy. Greg: Pete, what if she was a Russian spy? Pete: Aw, come on. They don't have those anymore, do they?

    • Abby: I brought you a pillow. Larry: Oh, come on, Abby. Abby: Well, what? You want to wakeup in the morning with a stiff neck and be cranky? Larry: I'm runnin' for my life! I'm supposed to be cranky!

    • Dharma: Can't you just go stay with Grandma? Larry: Not unless I cut my hair and finish college.

    • Abby: Just get rid of some of these 8-tracks... Larry: What'll I listen to? Dharma: Here, take my Discman. Larry: Do you have Strawberry Alarm Clock on CD? Dharma: Larry, nobody does.
