      • Josh: This week join me as I explore the mysterious origins of one of the greatest civilizations of them all, the Maya. The Maya arose from the rainforests of Mesoamerica and built massive cities of stone. For nearly a century archaeologists placed the height of Maya civilization during the first millennium A.D. but revolutionary discoveries are challenging those beliefs. Just when did the Maya truly reach their peak? To find out I'll tread deep into the Guatemalan rainforest, trudge through forbidding swamps and reveal the earliest illustrated evidence of blood sacrifice in the Maya world. We're digging for the truth and we're going to extremes to do it.
