While Okuwamon and Paildramon battle, the DigiDestined rush into the fallen base to try and stop the pending massive explosion. Davis and Ken work together to get to the center of the base where Ken climbs up and replaces his crest, but the overload of the reactor continues! The DigiDestined follow the power supply pipes back to their source where they discover a gateway/reactor drawing on the darkness for a source of its energy. All looks impossible when Paildramon finishes off Okuwamon and rushes in to lay waste to the reactor. The DigiDestined escape and Izzy briefs them on how DNA Digivolving works and why the old DigiDestined can't Digivolve to Ultimate anymore.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • In the flashback of the Digidestined surrendering their Crest powers, Kari is shown wearing her whistle, even though she gave it to Gatomon in the season one finale (Additionally, Gatomon is not wearing the whistle herself).

    • Weren't the crest destroyed by Apocalymon in the season 1 finale? But here they say they used them to save the Digital World after that. They also say that that is why there Digimon can't go to Ultimate, but it was explained (also in the S1 finale) that they do not need the physical crests, because the power exists inside of them.

-In reply to this goof: They gave up the power of their crests, as you can see in the flashbacks, the power came from their hearts.

  • QUOTES (12)

  • NOTES (12)

    • In the flashback, everyone is in their real world clothes except for Tai who is in his normal clothes.

    • This episode was published in the manga Digimon Zero Two Volume 1.

    • Japanese Title: Invincible Fusion! Paildramon!

    • A segment of the music that played when ExVeemon and Stingmon digivolved into Paildramon is part of the same music that played when Omnimon first appeared, which could be implying that they both digivolved the same way.

    • There's something wrong with the story of not being able to Digivolve, if they gave up their crests, then why Gatomon Digivolved into Angewomon in "His Master's Voice" and in this episode Kari talks like if she can't make Gatomon Digivolve since Season 1.

    • Paildramon talks with Exveemon and Stingmon's voices simaltaniously.

    • Chibomon (Veemon's Baby form) makes his debut.

    • In other words, without the Crests, Agumon, Gabumon, Biyomon, Tentomon, Palmon, Gomamon, Patamon, and Gatomon cannot Digivolve to their Ultimate forms of MetalGreymon, WereGarurumon, Garudamon, MegaKabuterimon, Lillymon, Zudomon, MagnaAngemon, and Angewomon as well as Agumon and Gabumon also losing their ability to Warp Digivolve into WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon.

    • Paildramon's attacks are Desperado Blaster, Cable Catcher, and Sting Strike (which is similar to Stingmon's Spiking Strike).

    • It is revealed that at some point between the first and second season, the Digidestined had to sacrifice their crests to protect the Digital World, explaining why the Digimon can't go to the Ultimate Level anymore.

    • A reference of WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon becoming Omnimon is mentioned by Izzy.

    • Okuwamon is the Ultimate Level of Kuwagamon
