Yolei mentions that she wants to marry Ken, this is a nice bit of foreshadowing as she does in fact end up married to him.
Yolei has a crush on Ken in this episode, but in "A New Digitude", she was uninterested in him.
They never tell us what really happened to Yolei, Kari, TK, Cody, and their Digimon when they fell through the ground.
Davis: I really looked up to you, Ken. I dreamed of being just like you someday. Now that I know you're my sworn enemy, all I can say is, and I mean this: You can keep you crummy autograph!
Cody: It's a control spire!
Kari: What's it doing there?
Gatomon: Controlling, spiring, the usual.
Davis: I so kicked butt out there, huh?
DemiVeemon: And you kicked the ball really good, too!
Davis: (to Ken) But you're a kid, just like me!
Ken: (yells) I think not!! Deltamon, Triplex Force!
Davis: Houston, we have a problem.
Veemon: Davis, if you've been holding out and planning a surprise attack, now would be a good time to yell 'surprise'!
Davis: Surprise?
Veemon: It isn't funny!
Digmon: Surprise? It isn't even my birthday!
Upamon: It's the Forbidden Valley of No Return!
Kari: Why do bad guys always name things like that?
TK: It's in their job description! It's right after really stinky breath!
Cody: Even if this place was called 'The Valley of Dickies and Bunnies', with a control spire there, there's trouble.
Kari: Good luck Davis!
Yolei: Don't forget to hug Ken!
Tai: Give him a kiss, too!
Yolei: When you see Ken on the soccer field, will you get his autograph for me?
Cody: Yolei and Ken, sittin' in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!
Yolei: Hey, Cody watch it. Besides, I didn't say I wanted to KISS him, duh, I just want to marry him!
Digimon Emperor: I could and I am, Ken Inchijouji!
Davis: I'm dreaming, Ken is the digimon emperor.
Ken: The one and only! Well Davis, farewell for now my worthy adversary, until we meet again in battle, HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Tai: For all the attention he's getting that guy sure knows how to keep his cool.
Davis: Hey I'm cool.
Tai: More like lukewarm.
Davis: That's so funny I forgot to laugh.
This episode was published in the manga Digimon Zero Two Volume 1.
In the Japanese version, when Daisuke (Davis) is playing soccer before Ken's arrival, the song "Boku Wa Boku Datte" is played in the background.
According to the Japanese cards, Deltamon was created through an accident involving a Veedramon, a SkullGreymon, and an Orochimon, much like how Chimeramon was created.
The Digi-Destined discover that the Digimon Emperor is really Ken in this episode.
Debuts: Deltamon, Airdramon
Bizarrely, only the name "Charlotte" appears under the writer credit for this episode. The episode is attributed to Charlotte Fullerton, the only other Charlotte to have written for Digimon, who co-wrote "A Very Digi Christmas."
Ken: Like sands in the hourglass, so are your friends' lives!
This is a reference to the soap opera Days of Our Lives, which opens with the phrase "Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives".
Davis: Houston, we have a problem!
This is an allusion that was originally used by the crew of Apollo 13 moon flight to report any kind of problem to their base in Houston.
