  • Great episode!

    9.5
The episode begins with an unknown Digimon (Sabre Leomon, but unknown to Joe, Mimi, and Ogremon) rescuing them from Metal-Etemon. He takes them to a bunch of ruins from the Digital World where Joe realizes he sees the Diner he worked at in the episode "Were-Garurumon's Diner." While in the Diner, Mimi discovers a Geckomon and an Otomamon from the Palace she stayed at in the episode "The Crest of Sincerity." They tell the story of how the Dark Masters destroyed their palace. Eventually, Sabre-Leomon de-digivolves into Leomon and Palmon notes that he has digivolved. Leomon explains that being exposed to the digivice has enable him to digivolve, but he can't control it. It isn't explained as to why Leomon digivolves straight to Mega, or why he doesn't say "Warp Digivolve." Meanwhile, Puppetmon draws the rest of the group into a fight with a group of Red Vegiemon. Then, Leomon explains to Mimi and Joe how all their previous battles have prepared them to defeat the Dark Masters. Meanwhile, again, the kids and their Digimon are battling the Red Veggiemon, but make short work of them. Agumon warp-digivolves to War Greymon to fight Puppetmon but is controlled with Puppetmon's strings. Mega-Kabuterimon and Garudamon are able to free him, but Puppetmon bring his house to life, and runs off. Later on, Metal-Etemon is battling Sabre Leomon, who is seriously injured by Metal-Etemon while trying to rescue Mimi. Zudomon attacks with his Vulcan Hammer, but it is defelected, as Metal-Etemon is made of Chrome Digizoid Armor. Zudomon then throws his hammer at Metal-Etemon and cracks his armor. Sabre Leomon is then able to defeat him. Then, the rest of the kids are having a hard time battling Puppetmon's house, until Matt and Metal Garurumon show up and finally destroy Puppetmon which destroys the house. The episode ends with Leomon disappearing into Data, and while Mimi and Joe want to rescue him at Primary Village, Ogremon explains that it has been poisoned by the Dark Masters' evil, and will stay that way until they are eliminated.moreless
  • Mega battles, Ultimate assists; This episode has it all!

    10
This is one of my all-time favourite episodes of season one. The battle between Metal Etemon and Saberleomon is pretty good, if a little short, and the battle against Puppetmon even more so, but the real reason i like this episode, is because it isn't the Mega level digimon who save the day, but the Ultimates.

Zudomon uses his Vulcan's Hammer to crack Metaletemon's armor, giving Saberleomon the chance to defeat him, and Megakabuterimon and Garudamon manage to free Wargreymon from Puppetmon's control. However, it's Metalgarurumon who finally takes down the forest's Dark Master (In one blast, even).

The final scene with Leomon dying is very touching, and the part where Puppetmon remembered Cherrymon's words from "Trash day" is a good bit of continuity, which shows exactly why Puppetmon loses.

All in all, a fantastic episode, filled with some of my favourite Digimon, and a definite classic in my book.moreless
