Digimon: Digital Monsters

Episode 0

Runaway Locomon

Aired Tuesday 9:00 PM Oct 02, 2005 on TV Asahi

  • Trivia

    • This is the only time Guilmon uses his Rock Breaker attack.

    • This film takes place six months after the D-Reaper was obliterated, according to the time slot of the Tamers series.

    • Although this movie comes after the series, Beelzemon's bike, Behemoth, appears, despite having been destroyed by Gallantmon in episode 3.36, "The Battle Within."

    • Beelzemon appears in his "flawed," incomplete form, with red eyes, and no wings; however in the end, he has his wings and green eyes later on.

  • Quotes

    • Kenta: He Digivolved to GranLocomon. He's a Mega!
      Henry: Yeah, Mega bad!

    • Kenta: Um, guys, does that look normal?

    • Rika (singing): You promised me we'd stay for the sunset.

    • Rumiko: (sings on microphone) OH, YEAH! You got to shake it all out, baby. You got to shake it now! Shake it, shake it, SHAKE IT!!!

    • (Locomon digivolves into Grandlocomon.)
Kazu: Check it out! He blinged his ride!
Henry: You can say that again.

    • (After Henry accidentally took Lopmon instead of Terriermon.)
Terriermon: Man! How could he have think that I was Lopmon? When I get my hands on him I...
      Suzy: Terriermon, momentai.
      Terriermon: Hmm?

  • Notes

    • This movie shows how much Takato's and Rika's friendhip has grown over the last six months since the D-Reaper invasion.

    • We learn that Rika is a great singer (although she dislikes it), and so is her mother (and Susie, of course).

    • ABC Family Air Date: Sunday November 6th, 2005

    • Walter Lang, who does Locomon/GranLocomon, plays him in the style of Johnny Cash.

    • Michelle Ruff does not reprise her role of Lopmon for some unknown reason. Instead, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn plays Lopmon. Mona Marshall plays MarineAngemon who was previously played by Wendee Lee. Philece Sampler plays Riley and Jeri who were previously played by Tifanie Christun and Bridget Hoffman.

    • Locomon digivolves to GranLocomon before he is sent back to the Digital World.

    • Japanese Title: The Runaway Express Goes Wild

    • We see Rika as a child

    • When Locomon returns to the Digital World, other Digimon seen besides the usual DigiGnomes are Doggymon, Gekomon, Jagamon, Kiwimon, and Otamamon.

    • This movie takes place after the end of season three, so it is evident that the portal Takato found at the end of episode 3.51, "Such Sweet Sorrow," allowed the Tamers and their Digimon to be reunited. While this movie is considered to be in continuity, there are some noticeable flubs (see Goofs section). Chiaki Konaka, the Japanese writer of Tamers, says that this is because he was not consulted on this movie.

  • Allusions

    • Kazu: Check it out! He blinged his ride!

This is a play on the title of the MTV show Pimp My Ride.

    • Title Pun: Runaway Train

The title looks to be a parody of "Runaway Train" by Soul Asylum, considering that Locomon is a train.
