    • Baby: Robbie?
      Robbie: What?
      Baby: Tell me a story.
      Robbie: Life stinks. The end.

    • Earl: (to Robbie) All I ask is that you do everything I say, exactly how I say it, immediately and without question. Now, is that being so unreasonable?

    • Fran: Earl Sinclair, if you hurt one scale on that boy's head so help me, I'll disconnect your premium cable channels!
Earl: You'd make me watch BASIC? (Robbie tackles him)

    • Ethyl: Way to stand up to your father, kid.
Robbie: Yeah, did you like the part where I burst into tears and ran sobbing up to my room?
Ethyl: It wasn't one of your finest moments.

    • Baby: Fight! Fight!
Fran: There's not going to be any fight.

    • The Sun Also Rises:

The episode title is an allusion to the 1926 novel The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway. It tells the story of a WWI veteran who becomes a journalist. During that time he begins to live an isolated life. Some say its because he couldn't handle the war, and thus was "less of a man."

Similarly, in this episode, Earl is emasculated by Robbie when Robbie wins the right to be head of the household.
