In the ITV1 comedy Directors Commentary, Rob Brydon (in voice-over) plays Peter De Lane, a veteran TV director with a string of failed marriages and a chequered career history. In the manner of a DVD commentary, De Lane reflects on his life and work while offering unusual and frequently surreal insights into the making of classic TV shows such as Bonanza, Mr & Mrs and The Duchess Of Duke Street. In the same way as a genuine DVD commentary, we see and hear the original action unfolding on screen while De Lane is an unseen narrator. The format of the programme is that two old shows are featured in each episode, one each side of the commercial break.moreless
