i might watch it... but mike is the best. it just wouldn't be the same without him as the host. it would feel... empty. i can't talk about this anymore. someone change the subject, quick.

Mike is very charismatic so whoever replaced him would have to be pretty good to keep me watching.

Have you got someone called Drew to host it now? We have got Peter Schmeichel It's just not the same without Mike. Anyone knows why he left?

Altough, now the only show reruns of his episodes twice a day, Peter seems to have disappeared :S

I seem to recall a behind-the-scenes type episode of Dirty Jobs where Mike talks about auditioning possible replacement hosts. They got all these cute tiny women (including Rachel Perry, of VH1 and MuchMusic fame), and they proved disastrous. I fear that that is the route they might go should Mike ever stop, or be replaced. The last thing we need is some useless eye candy like Rachel Perry hosting such a great show.

I really only watch it for Mike. He's funny and adorible. It works because he does so well talking to the regular people who don't really know how to talk about what they do.

As far as I am concerned, there is no show without Mike Rowe, so there would be no point in watching.

I won't watch this show if Mike left. This is one of those shows where the crew is actually shown. Mike even talks to them. I rather watch that than a show where the crew is invisible.

It depends on whoever replaced him. I saw some of the new series Wreckreation Nation with Dave Mordal (?). It's sort of a cross between Dirty Jobs and The Crocodile Hunter. The problem is that the host has none of the charisma of either Mike Rowe or Steve Irwin. Mordal also came across as a bit of a wuss. Sure, Mike complains a lot but he actually gets in there and gets his hands dirty. Mordal looked like he was about to wet his pants in the crocodile wrestling segment of his show.

Anyway, if someone like Mordal ever took over Dirty Jobs, that would be the end of the show. If they found another unique character like Mike, Steve Irwin or Adam Savage, it could definitely continue on. The appeal of the show is equal parts Mike Rowe, the people who do the various jobs on a regular basis, and the actual tasks involved with those jobs, maybe in that order.

Also the udder absurdity of some of the jobs makes it great too. When mike basically comes tumbling out of a furnace or whatever absolutely covered in dirt/soot I just can't help but laugh.

You'd have to give it a chance. If you just watch the show for Mike, thats kinda creepy.

Regarding watching Dirty Jobs if Mike was no longer the host, my niece responded "I do not watch the show for the dirty jobs."
