Janice's babysitting of James Henry does not get off to the best of starts, but fortunately Penhale is around to help her out. After his disastrous lobster special evening, Bert disappears and Al is very concerned when he finds out there are bailiffs at the restaurant. Mrs Tishell is worried that Martin will not be able to cope with living on his own, so decides that she is the best person to help him. The new Portwenn Radio DJ, Melanie, tries to get Martin involved with the station's new Healthy Eating segment, but she gets more than she bargained for when Martin has to perform an operation live on the air.moreless

PC Penhale manages to protect everyone after a car accident outside the school and Louisa is surprised when the victim of the crash turns out to be Dr Timoney. Danny, Louisa's ex-boyfriend, arrives from London with seven children to camp on Ruth's farm. Louisa feels she has to help her old friend out, even though this further adds to her load. Martin is not at all pleased when Danny proceeds to try and intervene in their troubled relationship. Things are going slightly better for Mrs Tishell and Clive. Bert's whisky still is discovered and Penhale is keen to lay down the law. Martin and Louisa are left wondering if anything will ever go right for them. Then Martin uncovers a health scare at James's party, all the guests leave very quickly and not even Ruth's birthday cake can keep them there.moreless

      Martin and Louisa go on a date, but his usual bluntness ruins a romantic moment, and Louisa ends the struggling relationship. However, a friend of Louisa's visiting from the City, Holly, injures her back on the beach, and is forced to remain in Portween. Determined to conquer his phobia and return to a surgical position, the Doc tries therapy.moreless

      A flu bug hits the school, forcing Louisa to recruit Bert and Al to cook the lunches and to ask the Doc to look after the baby. Mrs Tishell's husband returns and announces that he wants to retire to spend more time with her and this, combined with her self-medication, convinces her that the time is right to take what she sees as her rightful place in the Doc's life.

      Pauline looks set to achieve her ambition of joining the Portwenn Lifeboat crew. However, her joy is short lived when she is confronted with the chauvinistic behaviour of her shipmates. Martin is accused of murder by the husband of a woman who died in his care.

      The people of Portwenn are concerned for Radio Portwenn's DJ Caroline Bosman, whose increasingly erratic behaviour has them suspecting that she has been hitting the bottle. The Doc has to deal with an elderly patient whose personal aroma can clear a room, but is unable to determine a medical cause for the stench. PC Mylow hopes that his pheromone spray will endear him to a pretty newcomer to the village, while the Doc/Louisa/Danny triangle gets even more complicated.moreless

      The baby is giving Doc and Louisa sleepless nights, and things aren't helped by the new receptionist who - after a late start on her first day - seems far too energetic. Bert starts to suffer from dizzy spells, and Aunt Ruth's neighbours cause her trouble. When she goes to confront them, it sets off a chain of events that involve both Dr Ellinghams.

      Mrs Tishell returns to Portwenn, and Louisa is understandably worried. PC Penhale goes on a survival course to try to gain membership of an elite police unit but his luck and skills prove as lacking as ever. Bert seems to be having more luck in the romance department than his son.

      Pauline finds out that the Doc is going to leave Portwenn, and starts a work to rule when she receives her somewhat terse reference. Auntie Joan's new lodger has a somewhat unusual affliction and Bert organises a baby shower for Louisa. The Doc goes on a trip to a conference in London with Edith that both shows what each of them wants from their relationship and that he can deal with blood again.moreless

      Al pitches yet another business plan, but circumstances lead to his presentation being a wash out. However his luck eventually turns.       The Doc's Aunt Ruth arrives for the funeral and learns that she has inherited the farm while the Doc finds out that one of the pall bearers isn't up to the job and that Aunt Ruth may well have some medical problems of her own. A couple of days of working with the Doc and trying to cope with their baby leave Louisa exhausted and desperate to find a new receptionist for the practice.

      Season 7 - Episode 2
      Drama series about a curmudgeonly country doctor and his patients in Cornwall. If anyone is going to be able to help Martin change his ways, Dr Rachel Timoney seems well qualified. Louisa's return further raises questions about her and Martin's relationship. Meanwhile, Al welcomes his first fishing guests, but an uninvited one means that a good review is definitely not guaranteed. Bert decides to try and rejuvenate trade at the restaurant by joining an online voucher scheme and offering a 2-for-1 lobster special with the help of local fisherman Gus.moreless

      The Doc clashes with the new district midwife, whose insistence on natural methods put Louisa's health at risk. Bert takes a shine to a new employee at the restaurant, but her culinary preferences leave something to be desired. Edith tries to help the Doc secure a return to London.

      The Doc deals with a strange family who seem reluctant to let him make house calls, and whose passion for taxidermy seems to hint at a dark secret involving their missing mother.

      The Doc's sleeplessness affects Louisa, and she cracks when she learns that his haemophobia is worse than she thought. When it seems things couldn't get worse, Martin's mother arrives with sad news.

      PC Mark Mylow can't persuade Dr Ellingham to be his best man, but Al Large agrees. The stag weekend – a camping trip – goes wrong when an adder bites Mark’s ankle and he suffers a potentially fatal allergic reaction. Meanwhile, Dr Ellingham deals with a spate of weever fish stings among teenage boys playing a dangerous game of dare.moreless

      Mrs Wilson, the hypochondriac owner of the Wilson hotel, forces her attentions on a very indifferent Martin, which makes Louisa jealous anyway. Joan dates a much younger man than her, much to Martin's surprise.

      The annual Portwenn Players dance arrives, and Martin has to deal with Stewart James, a man who's convinced he's living with a six foot squirrel.

      The drama about a curmudgeonly country doctor and his patients in Cornwall returns for a seventh series. Martin returns to Portwenn, but without Louisa. She has gone to stay with her mother in Spain to take some time out to think, and Martin is left wondering if she will ever come back. Aunt Ruth has found him a therapist, but life in Portwenn continues to get in the doc's way - in the form of Steve Baker and his lifeboat training exercise. Steve and his assistant Barry are supposed to be helping Al get everything ready for the guests' arrival, but the pair are never there and the walls still need plastering. Al cannot rely on his father for help as Bert has taken the hump. Morwenna cannot help either as her flatmate Janice has roped them both into the lifeboat training exercise. Then Steve collapses, and the training exercise becomes all too real as Martin and PC Penhale race out to sea.moreless

      Penhale organises a police open day, but the only genuine visitor he gets is an angry farmer. James starts biting - not only Louisa, but his classmates. Louisa joins a lift scheme with a classmate on her course.
