      • John Cleese wrote this episode after his investment in a gymnasium fell threw. He based this episode on an unforgettable stay at a Torquay hotel called the Gleneagles.
The Pythons were filming in the Southwest of England in May 1971 and had scheduled for a two-week stay. But the late Donald Sinclair, a 5'4" manager of the Gleneagles, started treating the group rudely–as he treated all the other guests, it seemed.
A producer looked at Cleese's "No Ill Feeling" script and told him, "There's a series in that hotel." He was right. Cleese and his separated wife, Connie Booth, would go on to write that series, called Fawlty Towers, into a BBC-2 masterpiece.

      • Ernest Clark and Richard O'Sullivan do not appear in this episode.
