the feelings stated earlier about not wanting a new doctor has to do with a normal dislike of change(usually mild for most)and some minor grief. younger persons and older react stronger than do the middle crowd. but like we are seeing and has been shown time after time, when a worthy new person or thing replaces the older we get on board and often times forget quicker than we might like to admit...think about old and new friends at a work place or school. new flat or or house, auto, even smaller items ie...phone,clothes,altough the opposite happens with youth in this regard because of a differant dynamic which is...lack of sentimental attachement...you get the idea...we are all already or will soon love our new doctor and will have a difficult time seeing anyone replacing him....
Im sorry but David Ten was well better doctor I know Mats only done a few eps but he got nosubstance no screenpresence but if you ask a Doctor who fan they will say hes great cause they always say that cause there all in love with it I think it was a mistake to pick someone so young I mean I enjoyed the first new ep but since then only crap lol I thought some of Davids ep were bad but this is a differentleagueof crapness
I dont know why ppl hate when a character changes, the most important aspect of doctor who is regeneration and change, change is the thing that makes it one of longest running shows. David was with us for 3 seasons and 4 years, just when i thought that i have seen him enough they replaced him. this is the only show where enemies remain same (Daleks, Cybermen, master, davros etc) but heroes change and that makes it interesting.
David fought with all of them for more than once, how many more times viewers cud watch him fight with them again and again..
I love Doctor who because it always offer something new, David was different than chris, and i loved that, and now Matt is different from david , and i m loving him, i m interested in seeing him more. same is with companions, Rose was sensual, caring, emotional girl who shared a deep emotional bond with doctor, both of them loved each other, Then martha was completely different, more like his mate who had feelings for him , then Donna was like his sister always arguing, shouting, and now Amy a beautiful, carefree Kissogram, which gives a little sexual touch to the show, where else we can find so much variety .
So just stop complaining and just enjoy what show offers.
Agree We understand that in times the Doctor will change. We don't get too upset when we loose a Doctor we really like because we know another one we like will come along. We don't get "too" upset with a Docotr we don't like because we know change is on the way. Our fear will be with the last life. That will be the one we worry about.
and the fact they are making the Doctor younger & younger presumably to appeal to a younger audience
LOL! It's so funny to think abt. Wen David Tennant first replaced Christopher Ecceleston, I thought I wud never have liked him. But after a few episodes I feel inlove with him. The same with Matt Smith, I was wondering y they changed Tennant for this guy. But I must say he is gettin my attention now. He has this side to him that's just different from the other Doctors. I think he is doin a great job although I wish he cud speak as fast as Tennant did.
I am a long time watcher of Doctor Who and Matt has done a very good job as the Doctor . It took me longer to warm up to David than it has Chris or Matt in the new series . I haven't heard many complaints either .
I feel the same way. I didn't take a liking to Tenant until episode four or five. Started liking Matt, and especially Chris, right away.
Well, it may very well be the problem with the character, but as I only have Matt's version to go off of, the problem seems to be the him. I have no idea how his character is written. I can say, though, that it is obvious he is acting, while Amy was in character until she was thrown off the shark and did a 180 into another character.
While watching the show, I was thinking "Amy is really good" and "That guy playing The Doctor.. is bad..." And again, if that -is- because of the character, and that is how they want him to act and this is how they want their characters to be from now on? Then maybe after all these years, this show won't be for me anymore. I will still watch it for a bit, and I will watch the first few episodes of next season if a new Doctor is present, but I a hoping that really isn't the case.
The character is being written to be how you percieve as a "bumbling fool". Matt can't play the character completely how he wants. He can't play the doctor as like captain jack or "space hippie" when the writing decides how his character behaves. Someone wrote in the review for the latest Dalek episode that DT wouldn't of had the Tardis key pickpocketed from him by Winston Churchill when he would of if it was put in the script. I'm not sure how well I'm doing with this so...*lights the Steamhead signal*
