There are obvious problems with Peter Halliday's bald headpiece in the final scene.
Pletrac: This tribunal is deliberating!
The Doctor: The tribunal is not deliberating. The tribunal is arguing. Quite nonsensically, I might add.
Pletrac The function of this tribunal is to keep this planet clean. This Tellurian creature comes from outside our solar system and is a possible carrier of contagion. Furthermore the creature may be hostile.
The Doctor: Would you kindly stop referring to me as "the creature", sir. Or I may well become exceedingly hostile!
This episode was re-edited by director Barry Letts for broadcast in 1981 as part of the BBC's The Five Faces of Doctor Who strand. The revised version edited out 45 seconds of close-up shots that showed obvious problems with Peter Halliday's bald headpiece.
This version of Episode Four was accidentally used on the VHS release. The DVD release has the broadcast version of the episode, with the alternative ending included in the special features on the disc.
Ian Marter would join the cast as Harry Sullivan from Season 12.
