    • TRIVIA (4)

      • In Episode One, The Doctor stressed to Romana the need to take regular doses of anti-radiation pills; Romana's capture by the Daleks prevents her from taking another dose. However, this does not seem to affect her. (Her collapse in the mine was part of the pretence of appearing dead to the Daleks).

      • Plot Hole: Romana claims, under lie detector, not to know anything about the Daleks. But later, she tells the prisoners the Daleks were once humanoid.

      • This episode features slaves working in a mine. There were also slaves working in a mine in an episode of Terry Nation's own sci-fi series Blake's 7 called Horizon, broadcast some seven months before this episode.

      • A Dalek searching for intruders goes right past our heroes, who have ducked out of the way. It actually points its eye straight at them, but inexplicably fails to spot them. This is mostly because the eye is entirely cosmetic: the operator peering out from the Dalek casing has extremely poor visibility and has to guess where the eye is pointing.
