I remember reading the book about the Three Doctors. All that arguing between the 2 main doctors was childish (even though it probably was funny on screen) - the story could have been a bit better plotted I think. But the worst part was the Brigadier. I know many people love his character - but he must have been the most stubborn companion ever! Even other characters like Benton and Yates believe the Doctor when he announces the most amazing things but the Brigadier refuses to face reality in this story to the point of being a moron...

actually i get a kick out of them fighting. is it childish? yes it is. but than if you think about it the 2nd Doctor was a bit childish & that was written VERY well. that's not to say that he didn't take stuff serious. but there's a LOT of comedy in the show when he was on it. & the writers i think at least this is my own guess wanted to bring some of that back into the show & the character as well. i've never read any of the books so i have no idea how it's written in that. i know for some serials.

in the books that it's really different than how the serials were. sometimes for the better sometimes for the worse, & sometimes they just didn't have the money to put all that on screen. but you prolly are right it prolly does better translate on screen than in the book. i only own 1 book & that i think is "Galaxy 4" but i have yet to read it though. is it any good?

oh by the way i do agree with you about the Bridgider. sorry about my bad spelling, anyways how how much of a moron he is in the serial "The Three Doctors" i dunno why they made him that way? i mean yes he at times was like that. but once he saw that the doctor wasn't giving him just false info & was indeed telling him straight facts with proof. he believed him

not so 'The Three Doctors" in fact i think even "Benton" was trying not to laugh in a few scenes on far he want into not believing the doctor.

you could tell he supressed quite a few smiles when he was being looked at by the brigider. again sorry about my spelling.

The one thing I'll always love about The Three Doctors is that the Second Doctor's flute saves the day. I love that payoff!Smile

so do i. & he act like such a little kid when he loses it. i don't blame the writers at all. cause that's how that doctor would act even during the 2nd doctor era. it's just plain funny to be honest

i've been watching "Day of the Daleks" this is one serial i actually bought a couple months back. & i'm FINALLY getting around to watch the damn thing. he he. anyways, i'm watching the remade version or whatever you want to call it? where they added stuff to it & fixed the Special FX as well.

& i love it so far. i'm thrilled they did it. though i was really skeptic on why they would film more? which i still am. i don't know the serial as well as many of you here do, to be fair, but the thing is i can't tell anything is new. you guys & gals might though. & i have as i always say have NO problem with them playing with the episodes well serials whatever ya want to call them? he he.

just as long as they also have the original version on the set for those who think it was just plain stupid they even touched it. i'm NOT saying all the serials need fixed this way. i honestly haven't seen them all to really give an honest opinion on that. but some of them i think do need fixed.

'The Planet Of Evil" is one back when that came out they should have fixed the FX on that. it looks terrible. unless that was how they wanted it to look? & by the FX in that one i meant the creature in it, that was in the hole. i forget what it was called to be honest. he he.

anyways. if that was how it was intended to look than never mind. either way it's interesting to see a different version of what it would look like today if it was made. & other than a couple scenes where you can tell it's prolly CGI it looks good to me. this is 'Day of the Daleks' i'm of course referring to. the updated version.

I read the Galaxy 4 book. I never saw the original tv show with Doctor No. 1, Steven and Vicki and I also understand that because the tv show was scripted in advance, the lines that Steven got to say where originally intended for a female character (Barbara, Susan, etc) - which apparently made him sound a little silly. But in the book, the characters ring true and even the background characters are given some character development. A classic story that ugly doesn't mean evil and beautiful doesn't mean nice!

it is that, i've seen the tv serial granted it was a Recon mind you. but it had a little footage that still survived. it's a decent serial. & i believe it was comissoned sorry for my spelling, before the actress who played Barbra again bad spelling. anyways before she left the show. so instead of making it better, for time which they i'm sure didn't have. they just rewrote it a bit & gave her lines to him. it's not the worst of lines mind you.

but honestly i can't really tell. i'm sure others will disagree with me but my reason is i don't really think about it when i watch it. but yes if memory serves me right in the serial & prolly the book as well they think the ugly creatures are the villains at first. than soon learn otherwise.

i really am curious how that creature who in the serial is the leader & there's no footage of him that i've seen survive, anyways i'm curious what he actually looks like with the footage that was recently found! well the episode i mean. cause i think it was episode #2 that was found or was it episode #3 i forget which.

The audio of Galaxy 4was part of The Lost TV Episodes offered by BCCAmericaShop.com Collection One 1964-1965. The others are Marco Polo, The Reign of Terror, The Crusade and The Myth Makers. There are places where you can buy each one but this was the best deal at the time.
