Plot Hole: Williams started the previous war by attacking the Draconian ship that was sent to negotiate a peace. He claims he did so because it was a battle cruiser and both ships were supposed to be unarmed. Both if both ships were to be unarmed, what did he destroy the Draconian ship with?
The Master: I'd like to try and take the Doctor alive, if possible. If not, I'll blast him out of space! Pity, though...
Ogron: You do not wish to kill him?
The Master: Of course I do! Ah, you know: rocket fire at long range, it's… I don't know, it lacks that personal touch.
Draconian Emperor: An Emperor who does not rule deposes himself.
An earlier version of this episode that, with extra scenes cut from the broadcast version runs for an extra 5 minutes, was inadvertently sent to Australia for broadcast. [This also happened with Carnival of Monsters, Episode Two.] This version included a revised synthesiser arrangement of the theme music by Paddy Kingsland - the "Delaware" theme, so called because of where it was made.
This alternative version of Episode Five was the one used on the video release.
When Jo resists the Master's attempts to hypnotize her, she references being previously controlled by him in Terror of the Autons.
