  • Inferno begins...

    9.1
This first episode of this seven part serial focuses most on establishing the characters that we will be following throughout the rest of the adventure, and so it is a bit slow in places. However, the constant noise of the drilling means that nearly every line spoken inside the project building is shouted or delivered rather loudly, adding to the tension of the story. The creatures are the weakest element, but viewed in long shots, they’re not so bad...yet. The Doctor’s travelling in the “limbo” is very (unintentionally) amusing as well, looking more like some kind of drug-fuelled pop video or hallucination. All in all though, good start.moreless
  • One of my favorite programmes in Doctor Who. The alternate reality premise is a wonder to sci-fi.

A fantastic begginning to my favorite programme. (Episodes refer to the parts and programme refers to the whole of the six episodes as one.) Jon Pertwee provides a dynamic to the role of the doctor that in this particular episode and programme his normal flippant style is broken by showing his great skill as an adventure man. Amazing and definitely worth every penny on DVD
