    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (5)

      • This episode features what was, at the time, the world record for a stunt fall from a large height – the 50-foot plunge from the cooling tower by the Wyatt primord. Interestingly, the stunt man who made the jump is the same stunt man who fires the fatal shot that sends Wyatt falling.

      • Continuity: When the Doctor arrives at the control room, the countdown reads 3:22. Later, when the drill is packing up and about to blow up, it still reads 3:22.

      • Continuity: Liz's hairstyle is different in outdoor and indoor shots.

      • Continuity: In episode two, Stahlman advanced the countdown to 49 hours. At the beginning of this episode, it reads 49:18. Seconds later, the Brigadier walks past it and it read 49:15.

      • This episode was the scene of one of the more famous (and oft-recited) practical jokes on the series. When Nicholas Courtney spun around in his chair to reveal his face in the alternate world, the entire cast were wearing eyepatches. According to Courtney, he kept his composure and went on with his lines while the rest of the cast broke up.

    • QUOTES (3)

      • Stahlman: Don't presume to tell me what I should or shouldn't do, Sutton!
Sutton: No, director. Sorry, director. Three bags full, director.

      • [Central Records has failed to identify the Doctor]
Brigade Leader: You are giving us a great deal of trouble.
The Doctor: I'm delighted to hear that.
Brigade Leader: You'd make things much easier for yourself if you would tell us who you are.
The Doctor: Proper little bureaucrat, aren't you? Can't shoot me unless you've filled in all the forms, is that it?

      • The Doctor: But I don't exist in your world!
Brigade Leader: Then you won't feel the bullets when we shoot you.
