    • TRIVIA (3)

      • Revealing Mistake: When the security doors are closing in the bunker, they make the walls wobble badly.

      • Factual Error: Sarah says that Mark jumped 2·362 metres in the Olympics. But the high jump is only measured to the nearest centimetre.

      • Equipment Visible:In the first Whomobile scenes, an object moves in front of the camera before it pulls out. It can't be anything the Doctor is holding, as his hands are down inside the vehicle.

    • NOTES (1)

      • First appearance of the "Whomobile", although it was never referred to as such on screen.

Jon Pertwee had suggested the introduction of a new vehicle and, when this was vetoed by the producer, Pertwee commissioned it himself. Named The Alien, it boasted the body of a sports car but was built on a three-wheeled chassis, registered in Britain as an invalid tricycle.

While The Alien was restricted to Britain's road network, the "Whomobile" also served as a hovercraft and light aircraft!
