Of the Dalek's allies at the meeting, only Malpha is identified and credited. The other members were not credited but according to the script were named Trantis,Sentrel, Beaus, Gearon and Warrien. Collectively they were also known as the Planetarians.
Malpha: Now all is ready. We at this table pledge our allegiance to the Dalek cause. Our armies will reduce the galaxies to ashes. Their people to dust. And Earth we will conquer first. Victory! Victory!
All: Victory! Victory! Victory!
This was the only single-episode story until The Five Doctors in 1983. This teaser for The Daleks' Master Plan was actually packaged as one of the 12 episodes of that adventure when it was marketed to Australia. (The Feast of Steven had been removed from the package as it was a stand-alone Christmas episode.) However, the censors felt the story was too violent to air there; the episodes were rejected and never aired outside the UK.
According to Edward de Souza's interview on the Loose Cannon recon of this adventure, he watched the finished show on TV with his three-year-old son on his lap. When Marc Cory is shot and dies, Edward's son turned and looked at his dad to make sure he was still OK!
Novelisation: Included in Doctor Who â€" The Daleks' Masterplan â€" Part I: Mission to the Unknown by John Peel (ISBN 0 426 20343 7) first published by W H Allen in 1989.
This episode no longer exists in the BBC archives. This is one of three serials (along with Marco Polo and The Massacre) without even a clip existing in the BBC vaults.
This episode did not feature the Doctor, Steven or Vicki, although William Hartnell was credited.
The episode served as a teaser for the forthcoming serial The Daleks' Master Plan.
The production title for this episode was Dalek Cutaway: Mission to the Unknown.
The Space Security Agent Marc Cory seems to be inspired by the popularity of James Bond. At one point, he even shows his ID card and says, "Licensed to kill".
