    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    • TRIVIA (6)

      • Equipment Visible: When the Doctor is under the console, the castors under the TARDIS walls can be seen.

      • Equipment Visible: When Jo begins recording the log and steps toward the console, the shadow of the boom mike moves over her.

      • The Doctor keeps a supply of breathable oxygen in portable tanks in the TARDIS for emergencies. Because of his use of them, it can be inferred that for its travels through the space-time vortex, the TARDIS has internal oxygen storage facilities of its own. These then refill when the TARDIS lands on a breathable environment planet and allows fresh air into the vessel. When the plants on Spiridon start to clog up these apparent entry vents, wherever they may be, the Doctor uses up the current air inside. Then, the stored supplies are activated by the TARDIS, with the emergency tanks for just such instances as the Doctor encounters here.

      • The Doctor refers to the events of the second serial, The Daleks, which are recalled in Thal legend.

      • When the Doctor checks the TARDIS's oxygen supplies, a member of the production crew can be seen reflected in the console's shaft.

      • The Doctor appears inappropriately surprised to discover a Dalek on Spiridon. (The next episode makes it clear that he is surprised that the Dalek is invisible, not that it exists).
