    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (3)

      • Plot Hole: 10,000 Daleks would barely be enough to invade a planet, let alone an entire galaxy.

      • Other Mistake: The Dalek Supreme has issues with its lights flashing out of sequence with its speech.

      • The Dalek Supreme that appears in this episode is one of the prop Daleks designed for the two Doctor Who films. Its eyepiece is constructed from a torch so it can flash at given moments.

    • NOTES (4)

      • The Doctor Who Magazine comic strip Emperor of the Daleks serves as a partial sequel to this story. Intended to explain away certain continuity events' fluidity in Remembrance of the Daleks, Davros does return to Spiridon in thst story, where he has developed an army of 4 million Daleks, rather more than the 10,000 stated here. Since they appear to be his gold and white redesigns in context, he probably modified not only the genetic programming, but also the casings, of the frozen Daleks, then just started up production lines.

      • Bernard Horsfall would return to a sort-of Dalek story for the Big Finish Audio Adventure Davros.

      • This story is the last one that uses Louis Marx toy Daleks as props for some of the sequences. Examples include the Daleks coming out of hibernation and being overrun by the ice floe.

      • When the Dalek Supreme first appears, trundling down the ramp from the ship that brought it, the background music is the main Dalek city theme used in the film Doctor Who and the Daleks.
