Doctor Who (1963)

Season 12 Episode 20

Revenge of the Cybermen, Part Four

Aired Saturday 5:15 PM May 10, 1975 on BBC

  • Trivia

    • Revealing Mistake: The Skystriker rocket launch is quote obviously footage of a Saturn V launch.

    • Equipment Visible: When the Doctor walks into the Vogan council room, the studio lights are visible through the curtain behind him.

    • Continuity: The Doctor's hands change position at the very beginning of the episode when Harry hops over his unconscious body.

    • When the Doctor enters the TARDIS at the end, you can see the paper feedout from the space-time telegraph hanging just inside the door. We've never seen any kind of feedout device next to the doors from any interior shot, before or after this episode.

    • When the Cyberleader grabs the Doctor after the failed Cybermat attack, he neither tries to strangle him or break his neck. Instead he just vigorously...massages the Doctor's shoulders.

    • If gold impairs Cyberfunction, then it should disable the Cybermat when the Doctor fills it with gold dust.

    • Towards the end of the episode, the beacon plunges close to Voga and orbits very fast before the Doctor manages to break free. The planetscape that appears on the screen is quite obviously a revolving drum with bits of clay on it. You can even see the same rock formations pass by every few seconds.

  • Quotes

    • Tyrum: We are grateful to you, human, for saving Voga.
The Doctor: Oh please don't call me "human." Just "Doctor" will do nicely, thank you.

    • The Doctor: Cognito erustrum.
Sarah Jane: What does that mean?
The Doctor: "I think therefore it missed."
Sarah Jane: Yes, but we're still heading for the biggest bang in history.
The Doctor: Oh yes. Oh no. They've locked the gyro controls. The flight trimmers are jammed.
Sarah Jane: What does that mean?
The Doctor: It means we're heading for the biggest bang in history.

    • The Doctor: Harry. Were you trying to undo this?
      Harry: Well, naturally.
The Doctor: Did you make the rocks fall, Harry?
Harry: I suppose I must have.
The Doctor: Harry Sullivan is an imbecile!
