  • The Ambush - Dalek - Part 4.

    8.5
This episode is quite good. It's suspenseful and entertaining. The Thao's falled into a trap and they're lider gets killed. The Doctor and it's crew tries to escape from the Daleks and warns the other Thao's that they're getting into a trap and manage to escape into the jungle. This probably is the best episode of the seven. Why? It's the one that we've got loads of information concerning the Thao's and The Dalek's past history. Almost 50 years after, it still entertains, i wonder how was way back then in the 60's! I'm starting to understand the Show's culture relevance in Sci Fi history. And looking forward to more episodes of Dr.Who.

    Enjoy!moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • Disguised as a Dalek, Ian tells another Dalek that the Council wishes to interrogate the prisoners. This is the first and only ever mention of a Dalek ruling council and yet, the Dalek does not question the existence of such.

    • Continuity: The Dalek the crew ambush in the previous episode has a magnetic block in its sucker and, after the attack, a mud-covered eyestalk. In this episode, the Dalek Ian pilots has neither. Moreover, the muddy-eyed Dalek is later seen waiting to ambush the Thals.

    • Revealing Mistakes: The heavy statue Ian drops down the lift to destroy the pursuing Dalek wobbles when he first touches it.

    • Why does Ian wait until it's too late to warn the Thals of the Dalek ambush?

  • NOTES (1)

    • On several occasions in the 1960s, episodes of the programme were not videotaped but instead were telerecorded onto 35mm film. The reasons for this varied – sometimes it was due to a lack of videotape machines on the recording night, other times there were so many recording breaks scheduled in the episode that it would have been difficult to make all the edits on tape (a difficult and costly exercise at the best of times). This is the first episode of the programme to be telerecorded because of the large number of inlay special effects shots that needed to be carefully edited.
