This story is probably as good as Doctor Who gets. The story is well thought out and there are several twists and turns. Katy Manning gets her best role to-date as Jo - and acts brave and resourceful in many scenes and her interaction with the Doctor is very good. The Ice Warriors turn out to be the good guys - which was an interesting twist on their past behaviour. Hepesh is great as the villain and Acturus and Alpha provide good examples of different alien species. There is even some romance between the King and Jo - even though its quite sudden! The fight scenes between the Doctor and Grun, and later on between the palace guards is done very well for the time. The cliffs look real and the inside of the palace looks great as well. The only real complaint is that both Torbius and Hepesh are killed savagely by the beast - but show no marks at all when they lay dying. Of course, this show was targetting kids in the past and perhaps showing signs of death was too much in those days.moreless

    • Hepesh: I wanted to save our world, to preserve the old ways. Perhaps I was wrong, Peladon. I hope so. Your future, which you set so much store by, is yours now.

    • Jo: At least we get to see a real coronation before we go, eh?
The Doctor: Yes, that's true. You know, I haven't seen a coronation since Elizabeth I's. Or was it Queen Victoria's?
      Jo: Name-dropper.

    • The Doctor: You don't really think that our appearance on the planet of Peladon, at this prescise crisis in their history was mere coincidence, do you?
      Jo: Time Lords again?
The Doctor: Yes, I think so.
Jo: Well, you didn't beat them after all.
The Doctor: No, not yet. But I will, Jo. Just give me time.
