  • A Great story in the year 1666 during the dark days of the great plauge and when the great fire of London took place.

Doctor Who always mangaes to protray history better than the future. In this Episode The Doctor and his companions Tegan,Nyssa and Adric are in the year 1666.(The darkest days of the great Plauge). The end of this episode is also takes an twist intresteing because As the tardis leaves 1666, The camera then goes to the Pudding Lane sign on fire-which implacates that the Doctor is responsible for starting the great fire of London.(Which of course take place in London in 1666.)A fantastic and Adventurous story(more so in this episode)from the pen of Eric Saward and the great direction of Peter Moffat.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • Plot Hole: Nyssa worries about the Doctor giving the Terileptil control circuit to Mace for the confusion it will cause future archaeologists. Strangely, she doesn't seem worried about the fully intact spaceship and control room left behind at the squire's house.

    • Other Mistake: When Nyssa is attacked by the android, the room starts shaking before she switches on the sonic device.

    • The Doctor hinted at being blamed for the Great Fire of London in Season 13's Pyramids of Mars, Part Four.

    • There was some small controversy at the time of the story's original broadcast when the climax appeared to show the Doctor starting the Great Fire of London.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • The Doctor: We must go. Our presence here would raise too many awkward questions. Can we drop you anywhere?
Mace: I'm afraid your pace of life is a little too fast for me, sir. I shall stay here and fight the fire, a much, much quieter occupation.

    • Nyssa: Where are we going?
The Doctor: In search of our Terileptil.
Adric: You know where he is?
The Doctor: Yes, yes. That's why I'm searching.

    • (Nyssa has destroyed the Android.)
      Adric: You did it!
      Nyssa: I did it.
Adric: You all right? Not hurt?
Nyssa: I'm fine. Just a little sad. It was such a magnificent machine.
Adric: That machine tried to kill you!
Nyssa: It was a slave. It was only doing what it was told.

    • (Adric is trying to materialize the TARDIS.)
Nyssa: Try and think what the Doctor would do if he were here.
      Adric: He'd probably get angry.
Nyssa: I said empathize, not be silly.
      Adric: Got it!
(Adric hits the console. It starts working.)
      Nyssa: Brilliant.

    • The Doctor: How do you feel now?
      Tegan: Foggy, sore and bad-tempered.
The Doctor: Oh. Almost your old self.
