In this episode Colonel Lethbridge-Stewart suggests the need for creating an international taskforce to defend Earth in the event of alien invasions. When next we meet him Lethbridge-Stewart has not only been promoted to Brigadier, but he has been put in command of the newly-created UNIT, the very taskforce he envisioned.
