  • A real case of could have done better - yet watchable at the same time.

All in all, an alright episode, made better by the unintentional comedy. The Silurians weren’t explained in the beginning - they want to kill all humans, like any Doctor Who villain does; yet the Doctor is VERY reluctant to fight them, even down to trying to negotiate even after the missile has started counting down.

Of course any serious Who fan knows the real reason is explained in the original story - Doctor Who and the Silurians (3rd Doctor, story B) but to the casual viewer this story makes the Doctor look like a total weakling. It would have been nice somewhere for the Doctor to talk to someone and recap the reasoning behind the Silurians motives, if he agrees with them that much.

Fairly good performances from the cast - nothing standoutish, and no overacting from the support, although Ingrid Pitt’s kung-fu is.. well, less said the better. Like I said, an alright episode which would have been better had they explained the reasoning. That alone would have made the story more enjoyable, in my opinion of course.
