  • Agree with Duke. Love the idea but the producers reduce 'opponents' to henchmen who work for doctor evil.

    6.1
It would be 1000 times better if they had two opposing views of a battle, or just balanced it up, making shows with some 'axis' pilots, who are still flesh and blood fellow members of the human race, who faced the same terrors and displayed the same braveries. The pilots got over this stuff a long time ago I think, what about the producers? Are we doomed to relive this one-sided story forever? I hope not. The concept of the show is great, peculiarly engaging, but the execution is lacking. Show us a Fiat Centaur Stormo, or a Kawasaki KI-61 squadron, please!moreless
  • PATHETIC worst warplane series I've ever seen. Not history cause representing only one side doesn't tell whole story. Not documentary cause it doesn't use actual records from both sides. Showing victories of only 1 side is propaganda. Shameful production.moreless

It's the first warplane series I've ever seen that in 3 years hasn't highlighted The Battle of Britain.

It doesn't meet the definition of history.

It doesn't meet the definition of documentary.

It does meet the definition of propaganda.

"Dogfigts' lesson being broadcast around the world is that over 90% of all the most important dogfights in history were American victories; the rest were American allies as second-rate victors.

All data and factual errors are ALWAYS to American benefit.

Not a single account highlighting an enemy fighter pilot shooting down an American fighter pilot.

Some pilots and aircraft wizzes online point out even the vaunted CGI mis-represents how airelons, flaps, rudders and dive-brakes would be positioned for maneuvers represented.

"Dogfights" message is clearly that...'only Americans count and make a difference, not you.'

The series and it's fans not only offend but insult every non-American even allied dogfighters, their widows and families.

It is fuel for those around the world who say Americans have no sense of honor & respect for others, even allies.

It is fuel for those who say America's allies should recall their militaries and leave the Americans to fight on their own.

I've purchased or tried to purchase almost every military history series I've seen, but have no intention of buying this.

The series seems to have just been a commercial proving-ground for more profitable video game sales in America.moreless
  • Dogfights takes us back in time and, using modern computer technology, puts us right in the middle of history's greatest air engagements.

    8.5
"Dogfights" is another documentary that uses the latest advances in computer graphics technology to recreate historic events and present them to modern day viewers. However, unlike other programs that deal with ancient history and which can only show recreations of buildings, Dogfights deals with events that happened within living memory and as a result we get to hear what happened from the mouths of the actual participants - the ones that survived, anyway.

Dogfights has good production standards. The interviewees are all well chosen and relate their stories with enough flair to keep the viewer's attention. Although history buffs have seen much of the authentic film the series uses countless times, the footage used is well chosen, high quality and well placed. The computer production that takes center stage in the program looks a little like a modern, high quality video game - but so the scenes from a lot of big budget movies, so this is not a weak point.

Overall, I like Dogfights. It is a good show that deserves good marks. As the capabilities of modern computers continue to improve, I expect we will be seeing many more programs like this one in the future.moreless
  • "Now, your in the cockpit!"

    10
If you are a gamer or an avid aviation enthusiast both past and present this show will knock your socks off! With new technology around HDTV, "media rooms" and large screen TV's, sit back and prepare yourself to go back in time and experience what our brave pilots endured during a dogfight during WWI, WWII, Vietnam or the Gulf War. The special effects and story lines are amazing. Tt's like you are there in the action! Hear the engine's scream, machine guns rattle ,the exposions and crashes rock your world!! This show is at the top of my play list! Boom!moreless
  • Decent show but Lacks variety.

    5.5
Dogfights is wonderful show to watch. However after 2 seasons of watching nothing but American pilots and their warbirds turning Zero's in to soot and ash I've started losing interest. If the creators of the show want to create a show on Aerial Dogfighting then they should expand their horizons. Some of the best well known Aerial battles have yet to be touched by this show. The Battle of Britain, The Crimean Air War, the Aerial duels over Kursk, Leningrad, The air war over the Rhine, the duels over Malta and the Italian Penninsula. And the show has also yet to touch on any of the famous aces during the war.

Hartmann, Rall, Marseille, Nowotny, Sakai, Pokryshkin, Pattle. I love this show but it needs variety.moreless
