Its a very good episode but it gives so many major story points away,

i was wondering did joss just make it to sell fox execs on season 2..?

Its a very cool twist to the dollhouse story, but i wish i didn't see it

because i think it gives too much away.

I wouldn't say it gives "too much" away.

And it was made to satisfy the DVD order (and sales to international markets) for the show which specified 13 episodes.

Ultimately, it did act as an example of what they could achieve on a much reduced budget so, in a way, filming then scrapping the original pilot paved the way for the second season.

    Yay!

Honestly, I don't think Epitaph One was made to sell a 2nd Season. I think it was made because they didn't think they were going to get a second season and didn't want to leave the fans hanging. I think the episode was made for the Dollhouse fans to give them an idea of where the show would go, if given a shot and provide some closure in the event it never gets a shot to fulfill it.

Yes, I think you may be right about the above points.

    I sort of agree.
I don't like the fact that I know where the show is going. The actual episode was fantastic, but I would've preferred to see it all play out over the next few seasons.
but I 'spose Joss had no idea the show would get a 2nd season.

So Joss did say that Epitaph One was definitely the future? Coz I remembering hearing him say something like it was a possibility, but they can change it if they change their actions and the pathways they're travelling on.

I think he said it's definite, but not everything in the flashbacks may have been what it seemed. They were memories so they may not be completely accurate. Or something like that.

With memories, they can be "tainted" by a person's perspective or incomplete knowledge of events/context.
