Remember the thread on her board here asking if she's ever been mean to anyone?

Oh dear god, save us the misery please! I'm one of the people cringing, btw. What are you people watching? Home&Away, Neighbors? Out of the Blue?

Foreign TV soaps must have some maJOR catching up to do. Not that ours over here are any better...

On a darker note, I just found out there never was a dog named Spot on Firefly. My whole life on TV has been a complete lie...Hmm. Just like the Matrix.

I knew a few Neighbours stars. One of them drove through the drive-thru at my work (Maccas) the other day.

Okay just a minute now. It's only okay for Australians to make fun of Australian TV, not everyone else

I think it's fair to say that just because most of the acting in soaps is pretty poor, doesn't mean the actors are poor. Just that they don't have much to work with. Probably don't get a lot of time to get things down, either.

Loads of great actors/actresses had roles in soaps at the beginning of their careers. Just the way it goes.

Ouch. Kylie's an okay actress. She's not bad, but yeah, she's not great either.

How is she poor as Echo? She says "Did I fall asleep?" and "Can I go now?" and then walks around blankly most of the time, like the rest of them do.

I've always liked Eliza, but think she tries to hard to be 'blank' and innocent most of the time as Echo. (The 'they won't wake up' scene in the showers actually makes me cringe a little) And most of her imprints seem to be the same. I guess that could also be the writers fault, but, take Victor's imprints for example. You can tell which 'person' he's being just by watching him for a couple of seconds. With Echo, it would be a pretty damn hard thing to do. I don't really understand, cause I though she was pretty good as Faith...

Tbh though she is playing the "tough girl" role throughout most of the season. Not her fault, that's the roles she was given.

As for the actor who plays Victor, he is outstanding. Better than all the cast minus maybe Amy Acker IMO.

True, but she did say that this show was an opportunity to display her range... Which, to me, she is definitely not doing a the moment. It would be nice to see her in some challenging, victor-esque personalities.

I think its because the writers are failing to write her as anything but a Faith-type character. I thought she was good in Haunted when her imprint was pretty much the opposite of Faith. So, IMO, when the writing's there, Eliza does have the ability to pull off a role that is not in the least bit Faithesque. If only the writers gave her more of an oppurtunity to do so. I'm not saying her acting is flawless though because she does have problems with delivery and facial expressions and whatnot but its kinda hard for her to show range when all of her character's imprints have this intrinsic Faith-like quality to them, ya know?

^^ Agreed NJZ. I thought she was really good in Haunted and True Believer also when she was playing something different. I also loved her performance as that woman in Man On The Street who was convinced her husband was setting her up in a porm film, she was funny there.
