It is evident Dr. Douglas "Doogie" Howser is growing into a very wonderful grown up man, whom any parent would find pride in being able to call his or her child. It also gives he series a true sense of what it must be like for a 17/18 year old genesis in the 1990s. I came to this conclusion at the end when watching Doogie bow out of his blind date making sure that Jack and his date found each other and have an honest chance with one another. A less mature person wouldn't might see the match, but wouldn't bring those two together and then bow out.
I also really appreciate the ending where Doogie basically says "Go with God" to Jack in his journal.
Finally, the scene with Doogie catching his parents planning a night together with an adult movie is outstanding! It really does bring real home life to TV screen.
