Dora the Explorer

Used to watch this,but now I know it's crap. It's stupid and pointless severs no purpose whats so ever unless you want to learn Spanish I guess. Overall 1, and this show needs to burn and get canceled now.

I wanna know, in what way is this show educational? need I remind you it's the same thing every damn episode. Why do Dora's parents ignore her, and let her go into the woods by herself without their supervision? Are they aware she could get molested and killed because she's like 7 or something and pedophiles could possibly hang out in the woods just to get their hands on kids. This is pretty much telling kids it's ok to walk in the woods by themselves, because they copy everything they see on TV, whether it's a cartoon or not, and they think the woods are safe just because Dora comes out unharmed. If I could give a zero on this site, this show would get one.

A bad show for kids!

Ehhh... Never liked shows that talk directly to the audience instead of having messages "hidden" in episodes... even as a little kid.

This show did its best at being the "fourthwallbreakest" thing shown to children. I give this show an award for having the longest dragging time when talking to the audience... yes, they think our children are THAT stupid.

And Map... repeats what he says so many times, I lost my sanity before I even got sanity...

Dora rocks

I can't believe that this cartoon is still on television. It has been on for more than 10 years. What is so popular about "Dora the Explorer"? it's like the worst little kids show that I have ever seen. Even when I was a little five year boy, I was never a fan of this cartoon... I kind of enjoyed it back then BUT there were cartoons that I enjoyed WAY more than this. There are some little kids cartoons that I enjoy even though I'm getting older. How can the cartoons that I've enjoyed were canceled years ago but an awful cartoon like "Dora the Explorer" is still on television? Boots was my favorite character back then when I was little though. Boots is probably the only character that doesn't irritate me alot... I mean, he irritates me BUT not alot like thr rest of the characters on this cartoon. I know this cartoon is educational for little kids but this cartoon is just painful to watch... ugghhh!!! Dora is such an annoying character. To be honest, I would rather have Boots be the explorer than Dora. I also can't stand the Swiper scenes when Swiper is about to steal things Dora and Boots... there so pathetic and stupid. The rest of the characters in this cartoon are all awful and irritating. Overall, if you're gonna watch this cartoon with your little brother/sister then I suggest that you put on ear plugs so you won't hear anything from this cartoon and just relax... I'm BEGGING you not to watch this cartoon, I'm BEGGING you. 1/10

That's right, if you want someone to blame for the dumbing down of preschool television, blame the creators of Dora the Explorer. Long gone are the days of Mister Rogers and the classic era of Sesame Street. The year 2000 (or Y2K) was said to have been the end of the world as we know it due to the increase in computer technology and intelligence. Luckily, that wasn't true (thank goodness), but it was the end of one thing when it comes to television, toddler-aimed television with actual intelligence.



The reason why I brought up the year 2000 in this review is because Dora also debuted that same year. If you ask me, this is a lot like Blues Clues (which premiered on Nick Jr. 4 years before Dora), only the host is animated, obnoxiously shouts to the audience, and has an equally obnoxious monkey friend named Boots. This, along with the aforementioned Blue's Clues, started the whole "breaking the fourth wall to the audience" concept in preschool programming. If you think about it, it's actually a good concept, earlier episodes made it seem like an interactive children's computer game from the 90's. A show with that kind of format had so much potential of being good, only to be put to waste with such obnoxious elements.



It's amazing and sad how a show this obnoxious could last this long, and at the same time, had so much potential due to its computer-game-style format. Two more things I forgot to mention was this.



1. The show also teaches preschoolers Spanish. If you ask me, I think preschoolers are too young to learn any kind of language, especially Spanish.



2. It gives Hispanics and Latinos a bad name, and I think a LOT of Hispanics should be insulted by the show and the fact that it's still on. The stereotypes the show has is absolutely appalling.



Overall, Dora has been an epidemic, it started the formula that continues to this day with the shows on Disney Junior; especially their two flagship offerings, Jake and the Neverland Pirates and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. If I had a choice between this and being detained in North Korea, i'd pick the latter.

How can anybody likes show? It's not that good. It makes Mexicans look like idiots that doesn't how to educate. It makes stupid stereotypes about them. Dora is a dumbnut who has no idea what to do because only the talking map is there for her. And I also hate her side kick boots. He's also annoying. About Swiper, i wish he can just pushing Dora to the cliff. I wish Swiper has a spin off. I would enjoy where the part Swiper steals Doras food and sees her dead. ROFL

right now, my little brother is watching, 'chocolate tree' wrong, wrong, wrong!!!! i can't believe the boots with boots, that are too big for his legs!!! they say, swiper no swiping, and he listens!!! like what the heck!!!! stupid!! sure it teaches spanish, but she needs to go to the real world, and reliaze life is not about exploring with a stupid monkey and talking trees, all alone without permission. i say dora is really stupid!!! but i guess you could let your 0mon- 5 year old watch it, but make sure they still know what the real world is. also when me and my dad were making fun of it, there was a unicorn, and the troll came and said, what animal looks like a horse and has a horn on its head? my dad yelled dora!!! LOL

Okay, at the time of me writing this, I am currently 15 going on 16.



I always thought this show was bad, honestly. It was annoying when Dora "interacted" with the child by asking obvious questions the mountain? where's the mountain? *pauses for a second* Is that a mountain? *points to a tree* no that's not a mountain, silly! Where's the mountain *points to the mountain* Yay!!1111!").



And Don't even get me started on Swiper! Swiper seems to be aware of the economical crisis Americans are faced with these days. Here is Swiper trying to make an honest living and this chick "Dora" be saying "Swiper no swipin'!" Everytime he comes! Like this chick dun even give him a chance to actually steal! Maybe if she stepped out into the real world and realized life isn't about adventuring with a monkey in boots she would recognize a brutha's struggle in the world and throw him a few staxx every now and then. I'm sure he'd 'preciate a sista showing her homeboy some love, can you dig?



Anywho...

It's really not the best show. A pro is that it teaches like 3 Spanish words an episode.

My 2 year old loves dora keeps her busy and focused it not only teaches spanish but colors shapes math opposites much everything I dnt get why people are saying its awsome for children.

Why does the writers for Nickelodeon write that all witches are bad but they show a Spanish Conquistador as a hero? I understand that this is a concept of religious indifference. I am banning Dora from my home. Racist stupid television show

I hate this show! There are many reasons why you should not watch this show. 1 This show forces you to learn Spanish. Unless people like Spanish language or they are from a Spanish language, than nobody wants to learn Spanish. 2 The host communication. This communication is even worse then Blues Clues. Dora will ask you stupid questions such as, where should we go next? Which way is the Mountains? And when you say the answer, they keep asking as if they were deaf. And when Dora wants to know which way a place is, they ask! As if they were too lazy to look. 3 Too Excessive songs. There are twice more songs than a Barney episode. They sing for everything. The Map, The Backpack, Going on their way to the destination 3 times, We did it, and the theme song. I can't stand any songs they are all annoying. 4 The Swiper, no swiping scenes. 1st it's pointless. 2nd That's not the way to get your item back. You just don't say no swiping. If this was for real. The theft would get away before you can say anything. 5 The artwork. OMG is it bad. Let me tell an example. Like i mentioned. After Dora finally answers the stupid question, The path looks like they could walk right there. But no instead they have to put a longer path that's like miles long. 6 The voice acting. Everyone's voice is super annoying. In conclusion, this show is super false advertising. This show is like watching Helen Keller the children's TV series. This show teaches you nothing! It may not look like bad show but it sure smells like it. 10/100 horrible.

This show is so stupid. I know it's for babies, but seriously?

It's simply amusing how people go on saying that it's a horrible show and should be canceled what so ever. I admit; it is boring to watch it since I'm not in the range of toddler age. But as for little kids, they find it fun to watch and it's interactive for them when Dora asks them questions for the audience to respond. Nonetheless Dora will then answer the question she proposed herself.



For people who think is a dumb show and such; what do you watch?

Ed Edd and Eddie? Adventure Time? Spongebob? Disney Channel? ETC.

I don't suppose you all watch the History Channel only?

Why should a show get cancelled because some people don't like it?

How would you feel if a slight percent of the majority didn't approve of what you like to watch and cancelled the show?



Besides; if you don't want to watch it, then change the channel.

It's not like anyone is forcing you to watch it by law.

It's this random show about a spanish girl & a monkey that she found in the woods one day & kept him as a pet. You think that sounds stupid? Well, there's another stupid thing about this show. There's this fox who always steals crap from characters throughout the whole show. Those aren't the only 2 problems. There's another reason to hate this show. There's this map & the only thing it says is "I'm the map I'm the map What do we need for today's journey???" That's pretty much all it says. The most worst of all, There's this backpack that carries heavy objects that normal backpacks can't carry. It's so stupid. It has a rope. What kind of rope could fit in a fucking backpack? I dunno but this is one creepy show. 1/10

This abomination of a show should've been cancelled ages ago. Supposedly, Dora the Explorer is supposed to be an educational show which also teaches kids Spanish. I used to watch this show when I was 7 but now, I'm 13 and I can see that there's certain things wrong with this show.



The characters:

The characters are poor as usual and have either no personality or a questionable personality.



Dora: The main character of the show. She is the worst protagonist after Barney and she needs mental help. Everytime in the show, you would hear her ask the viewers a question which clearly has an obvious answer such as this:



Dora - Where's the mountain?

Viewer - It's behind you.

Dora - Where's the mountain?

Viewer - It's behind you.

Dora - Where's the mountain?

Viewer - For fuck's sake, it's BEHIND YOU! *Viewer shoots TV*.



I'm not even done yet. These questions she asks are so stupid that she needs to go to Specsavers. Another thing I don't understand is how the hell does Dora manage to survive after every adventure she goes? If this were reality, she would've been killed.



Boots: A monkey who follows Dora around. He is another unlikeable character and I don't get how he talks. A monkey doesn't wear boots whatsoever and if this were reality, he would've chased Dora around trying to kill her. That is pretty much all I can say about him.



Diego: The animal lover + Dora's cousin. I don't know how the hell he got his own spin-off show but his show is just as bad as Dora's. The things he does is twice as dangerous because that would teach children to go off into a random area with no guidance as well as using dangerous equipment.



Dora's parents: All I can say is that they're irresponsible. What kind of parents would allow their child to go off on their own into random areas?



Other characters: Stupid and serve no purpose to the show. Especially Swiper. What's the point of adding him?



The plots:

The plot is the same cliche thing as always. Dora has been called on a mission, she and Boots go off to three random places, they face many obstacles along the way and have to stop Swiper. The stop Swiper part is pointless aswell. That teaches children that it's perfectly fine to stop a thief that way when it's not. The plots are also boring since you know what's going to happen anyway.



Educational value:

None whatsoever. I understand that the show teaches kids Spanish but how can kids understand Spanish when it's a complicated language? Unless your child is an exceptionally gifted genius then the educational value serves no purpose.



Summary and rating:

Dora the Explorer is a pointless show and what's worse is that there's a spin-off which is 2x as bad. Please cancel this and put on shows with some VALUE. Nick Jr is now following Disney's route too.

I watched this show 11 years ago and i can still remember the them song. In my nightmares. I can also remember not learning any spanish at all. To parents everywhere, THIS IS NOT EDUCATIONAL. I LEARNED NOTHING FROM THIS EXCUSE OF A SHOW. When i was older (about 12 or 13 year old) i accedentaly pressed the back-channell button and dora popped up on the screen saying, vaminoes or something foreign like that. I screamed. Loud. So loud the neighbors ran over with a rifle. A RIFLE, people. A RIFLE. Do we want that everytime a kid watches dora? This is a CREEPY TERRIBLE SHOW.

Now,first,let me state that I know it's a toddler's show,but there are a few educational shows that are enjoyable,like Arthur,Blue's Clues,and even MLP is aimed at toddlers. But I cannot believe this show is getting more praise than any good educational show,nor I can't believe that parents don't whine about this,and instead,complain about a character on MLP. And it's Dora The Explorer. The show is about this spanish girl named Dora and her monkey Boots,as they roam around the jungle to get to a place. Now first off,the characters. My god,these characters are so unlikable to the max. Dora is the worst educational protagonist since Barney. All she constantly does is ask the audience for help,and yet,the stuff is right in front of her,Proving and stupid,blind and deaf she is. She needs help for EVERYTHING,and I mean,EVERYTHING. Boots seems a bit more likable than Dora,but still needs help. The Map and Backpack are horrible helpers. The Map has that annoying song he always sings,and constantly repeats the steps,as if the audience was only Daredevil. And what's worse is that even when Dora just heard the map,she still askes the audience where the places are. Yes,she is that stupid. Backpack is also annoying,and can fit large things that are not even possible. Dora's parents are so irresponsible. They let their kid do dangerous things. Heck even climb a rock. I mean,they'd rather send her to Alcida (Misspelled) while they're at it. Swiper is easily the worst protagonist to ever exist. He makes Doofenswartz look like Venom. All he does is try to steal an item,and fails everytime Dora and Boots tell him "Swiper,no Swiping". Which is the most dumbest thing to stop a villian. It also teaches kids that that is the appropriate way to stop a thief. Way to teach them Dora. And when he suceeds,he just throws it in a tree or something,which ruins the purpose to steal something. He just needs to be hunted and shot at. There is also no education at this show at all. All it teaches kids is to think otherwise. For example,in this show,to stop the rain,you have to sing that "Rain,rain,go away" song. That's just wrong on so many levels. This show also brings in spanish teachings,which I bet kids won't understand. Seriously,these are toddlers you are talking too. The musical numbers are plain annoying,and are so repetitive to the max. Just overall,don't let your children see this. It's not educational at all,and needs to be avoided at all costs.

A show like this should be considered a crime against humanity and a good way to torture people. In Dora the Explorer it centers around a young Spanish girl who travels with her pet monkey named Boots, and go on adventures. They run into obstacles along the way such as a troll, a puzzle, and other things. Where this show fails is the fact that this show introduced to us a new concept that has plagued new kids shows, breaking the 4th wall. Dora constantly asks where to go next, or where is this or that to the audience, and it gets really annoying really fast. Dora is easily the dumbest character on this show. She always yells at the audience like as if they are deaf, and can't figure even the simplest things out. She is also blind and oblivious as to where things are even when they are right in front of her. Boots is just as bad as Dora. He was founded by Dora and kept him as her pet. What message is that spreading to kids, that animals shouldn't be free and be dominated by humans? The rest of Dora's friends are as brainless as her and offer nothing but padding. Dora's parents are easily the worst parents ever to grace a kids show. They are so bad they make Caillou's parents look good. They never seem to care that Dora is out on dangerous adventures or could get killed, and never are glad to see her. What's the lesson here? Your parents won't care of you go off on adventures that could kill you? Way to go Dora. But the two worse characters on this show have got to be The Map and Backpack. The Map constantly tells us he's the map and constantly repeats what places to go to again and again. I seriously wanted to take a lighter out and burn that map. Backpack is not as bad as The Map, but is still very annoying. He sings a song and says backpack too many times. He also has the uncanny ability to hold huge items like a pole which is not possible. The Spanish education is unneeded. Unless you have a child who is a prodigy, there is no way they will be able to understand the Spanish. Do we really need kids to think that we all speak Spanish? Just keep it English please. Swiper the Fox is the worst villain to hit a kids show. He makes Team Rocket from Pokemon look intimidating in comparison. He constantly tries to take an item from Dora and the only way to stop him is saying "Swiper, no swiping!" 3 times, and then goes away. I know this is a kids show, but even by its standards this was so ridiculous, and the times Dora has an item stolen Swiper just throws it into the woods or something. Why doesn't Swiper take the item, and run off with it? It's even sending a bad message out to kids. It's basically saying the only way to get rid of a thief is to tell them to not swipe anything. Again way to go Dora. Artwork wise, it's OK, but nothing too special or interesting, and the animation is so repetitive. The songs though in this show are just ear bleeding bad. Dora and Boots always sing about where they are going, the we did it song, and there is the map and backpack songs. All of them are horrendous and you are better off muting the TV, or better yet turning it off. It's right up there with Teletubbues and Boohbah as the worst kids show to hit the air. The characters are annoying, the educational value is nonexistent, the Spanish speaking has to go, the songs are horrible, and the breaking the 4th wall is unnecessary. This is a warning to all parents. Keep your kids away from this as well as Boohbah, Teletubbies, Caillou, and Go, Diego, Go!. They are NOT educational in the least bit, and you are better off not letting your kids see this. Put on Blue's Clues, Rollie Pollie Ollie, or Bear in the Big Blue House instead those were excellent kids shows.

1. Why would someone send a 5-year-old in the forest for missions?

2. Everything has a face and talks, even trees! This is all a LSD trip!

3. Every animal tries to kill or steal from Dora and Boots.

4.The map and backpack!

Backpack is telling you to pull a grapple to open it. What on earth?!?!

Map is telling the obvious! We have eyes, Map!

5.CHARACTERS (excluding the ones aforementioned):

Dora is so annoying! When she tells you things like "Wheres the mountain?", it's right behind her!

Boots is a monkey called Boots 0___0

Swiper just tries to steal from them! And, he stops when they say "Swiper, no swiping!)? Wow! You don't stop thieves by saying that!

Everyone else is a stinking animal!

Parents allow her to explore the forest? What if Dora gets lost?

This teaches kids ZIP! zilch! zippo!

HERE"S MY RANT!

When I watched this with my little siblings I just couldn't stand it. Dora is useless in this show. She'll ask you where you need to go and it's obvious that she knows where she is supposed to go. Then the map is annoying, he repeats himself so many times. Saying we need to go to the cave, the mountain then to the house and says it repeatedly. I feel as if the show is slow and really has no pace to it. It's very boring and irritating. I know it's for the little kids, trying to help them figure it out, but really the little kids are not that stupid. They can figure it out themselves without them (Dora, Boots, the map, backpack, etc.) repeating themselves 100 times.

For a baby show it was cool. But I think a show must evolve to survive. Dora has been the exactly same thing for years. I say, it was good, but isn't it enough already?

This is an utter annoyance instead of helping.



Plot: Dora and boots, go out everyday to adventure and discover things. They have friends along the way to help them, and they make stuff around.



Characters: Bad, really bad. Everyone has their own problems, and what? All of the non-living things are alive! Every car, train, even trees! This part of the show can do something to the kids, talking to an inanimate objects.



Value: The only value here is the basic math, other else, no. Will you ask for directions when you can see the place that you are going to? No. Will you tell an thief to stop stealing? No. It causes more problems to kids than helping them in their childhood lives.



Art: Good animation movement, but those inanimate objects, needs to go away. And that map's eyes needs to be trashed out.



Overall: 0. Not even helping kids. In fact, it gives them more problems.

I hate this show very much.This show hardly teaches anything to children.Lately all childrens shows have been going downhill(except Jake and the neverland pirates,Bubble Guppies,Kerwhizz and Charlie and Lola and maybe I might make a review on that next after this!)This show's time is finished.

My 5th review after "The land before time"


Ugh. I cannot beleive I used to be in love with this cartoon when it primermed in August 2000, I was only 7 when It was released. But NOW, I'm 15. Why would she teach kids how to be spainish translators?!?! When you can take spainish class at your local school. I don't get this show at all. This show is very stupid and it will of course get a D. That's right! a D! The only reason why i'm gonna give it a D it's because I used to watch it when i was younger ALL the time. That's the ONLY reason why I'm gonna give this crummy show a D. Want the Results? Here they are!:





Voice-acting: C 6.0/10.0 The voice-acting sounds fair enough, but when dora sings, She makes my ears want to go boom.





Animaiton: C+ 6.5/10.0 The Animatied chracthers and backgrounds are a little goofy, But it's however Decent. Dialouge: F 2.9/10.0 Horrbile. Aviod at all costs. When dora says something to you she'll be slient for 5 seconds. When they pass she STILL gets it. Come on. Childern are NOT that stupid people.





Sound: F-- 1.7/10.0 Abysmal!! They sing the same darn song just about every epiosde!!!





Grapihcs: C-- 5.2/10.0 Medicore at best. A little better then "Squrriel boy"'s Grapihcs, Which squrriel boy sucks butt.





Educational Value: D 4.8/10.0 Too much Spanish talking translationg to order to the sprinkles on top of this poor show.





Lasting Appeal: D- 4.5/10.0 The show gets Horribly Repeitive at most times so you rather change the channel quickly. Overall: D 4.0/10.0 I cannot beieleve I used to like this when i was younger!!!! God, I was such a Flipping Idiot. but I am NOT that stupid. If you like this, go ahead and get your brain translated, If you get a Brain ache, get a Brain Surgeruy if you're 10 or older! This show is one of the worst shows ever when I was like 7 and under years old I really liked it but now I hate it, its like the same thing every time "where do we need to go?" and " where is the blah" was the worst part about it! I really hate the backpack song too it's so annoying. You can go ahead and thumb me down cuz I know this would get thumbs down. And the other day my cousin turned this on and i say " omg turn the channel" I just can't stand this show. I avoid watching this everyday and watch real cool shows, I mean seriously wow wow wubbzy is better than this piece of garbage. I hope I never see this again.
