Dot's Story Factory

Show Summary

Dot's Story Factory is a PBS children's show that was developed so pre-schoolers learn how to construct stories while supporting literacy. The show is hosted by the precocious four-year-old Dot, a little girl who lives in an online world. Dot is also the younger sibling of PBS Kids show host Dash, who guides children through a number of online computer games. Through the use of an age appropriate tool, children learn specific elements of a story including the beginning, middle and ending. Viewers can access glides, graphic stickers and characters to help with story development. There is a text box, button bar and a way to change the thickness of your writing pencil on each page. With the help of parents, children can put together stories and submit them to PBS Kids. Each week, Dot features a number of stories submitted by viewers, which can be seen on television and online.
