It's the time of the Village Flower Show and Cousin Violet, the Dowager Countess of Grantham is convinced that, onece again, as she does every year, her blooms will win the first prize. Her gardener, she tells everyone, grows some glorious flowers so she is bound to win.
Mrs. Crawley isn't too pleased by the obvious fact that the committee give Violet the award every year because of who she is rather than because her flowers happen to be better than other entries. The Countess is none too pleaseed to be told this, nor is she at all happy when Mrs. Crawley tells her that an elderly local has the best roses she has ever seen.
When the time comes for the judging, it is Cousin Violet who opens the envelope to announce the winner. She sees her own name clearly written on the page but instead, awards the trophy to the local gardener. Everyone is incredibly shocked but it shows that a human heart actually beats there!
Meanwhile, Gwen attends yet another job interview and she is hopeful of success as she really wants to become a secretary. Only time will tell if she manages to achieve her goal or not.
