Bees and SIDS

Season 2, Episode 5, Aired

Episode Recap

The episode opens with Jonathan and Ben eating breakfast. Ben's body is seizing up, and he's worried about his health. It turns out Ben has been reading his father's medical books, and is imagining he's not feeling well.

Jonathan enters the office and talks to Laura about what a beautiful day it is today. As the two are looking out the window, Laura notices a bee in the office. Jonathan admits that he has an irrational fear of bees, and decides to go into his office.

Later in the day, Ben talks on the phone with his dad, and describes more of his current symptoms. Jonathan is a little dismissive of this illness, much to Ben's chagrin.

Laura gets ready to go home, as does Jonathan. When he realizes that the bee is still in the office, he asks Laura to kill the bee for him, who refuses. He tells her that the bee hates her.

At the bar, Jonathan explains to Stanley how he once went to a therapist about his bee phobia.

Back home, Ben continues to talk about his mystery illness. Jonathan tells him that he developed "interns disease" when he was in medical school, and that Ben must have inherited that from them without having to go to medical school.

Jonathan complains to Julie about Ben's behavior. She suggests he get a new hobby. Jonathan blames himself, as he's not the kind of father who plays sports or goes camping.

Ben and Jonathan talk once more. Ben had gone to the doctor's office, and was told that he needed to loose weight and be more physically active. Ben believes he may have SIDS. Jonathan is skeptical.
