Episode Recap

The episode opens with Ben and Jonathan eating breakfast, with Ben planning on collecting box-tops to get collectibles in the mail. After a brief argument, Ben asks to borrow the car for the day. Jonathan allows him to borrow the car, as long as he promises to act responsibly.

Jonathan calls Ben in the car, through a fancy car-phone. Unfortunately, Ben can't pay attention to the phone and drive at the same time. The two of them talk, and Ben reveals that he has been having trouble with the car. Jonathan is nervous about what Ben is doing.

Back at the office, Jonathan wants Laura to do something, but she can't because she is on the phone with Italy. Later, he asks her for a cup of coffee. She seems to agree to get it for him.

Ben drops by the office to give the car keys to Jonathan. Jonathan's in with a patient, so Laura agrees to hold onto them. She asks where the car is parked, and Ben answers that he parked in front of the building. Laura mentions that there is a no parking sign there though, but Ben doesn't seem too nervous.

Later, Laura and Ben look out the window, and notice that the car is being towed. Ben starts yelling out the window, and begins to get upset. Laura offers to help.

Down on the street, Laura begins crying in front of the tow truck driver, exclaiming that she needs the car to get pills for a sick relative.

At the bar, Jonathan unwinds with Julie and Stanley by telling jokes. Jonathan asks Stanley to give him a ride home. Jonathan tells the two of them that the car is in the shop because Ben did not release the emergency break. He also notes that Ben won't own up to his mistake, claiming that everyone has their own definition of emergency.

Back at the apartment, Jonathan and Ben talk about his independence. Jonathan asks if Ben thinks about getting his own car someday. Ben says this is unnecessary, since he has his dads car.
